"A friend reccommended Providence and we went on our annaversary. The staff warmly greeted us and immediately took us to our seats. The cocktails and wine options were great. We had a five course meal with a wine paring and loved every dish. The staff was very accomodating in allowing a substitution on one of the courses for my wife. The staff was engaged and friendly but not intrusive. All the people in the restaunt seemed to enjoy their food and beverages.
One of the standout items was the dessert. It was farirly simple as far as the ingredients went but the flavor and textures made this one of the standout dishes. Hats off to the pastry chef was David!

"When you go to an expensive special occasion restaurant, your expectations run high. You want beautiful ingredients, expert, unique preparations and excellent service. You get all three at Providence in an upscale, yet relaxed setting. We selected the chef's menu and weren't disappointed. Each dish was well-conceived and meticulously assembled. My favorites were: spot prawns seared on hot soapstone and sea urchin with summer truffles topped with a thin slice of lardo. Service was attentive but not fawning. Wine pairings were spot on. Truly spectacular."

"The food at Providence is excellent. However, we were not seated in either of the 2 main dining rooms. Rather, we were seated in a side room that had no windows and was barely decorated. Before we sat down, I asked to be seated at another table. I was told there was no other table. However, from my vantage point, I could see a table for 4 in the main room that was open the entire night. I felt the treatment of us was very insulting, and also that the host lied to me."

"It is so nice once in awhile to sit down and enjoy good food. Here in Los Angeles Area, people think, that a well cooked steak, eventually with a (frozen) Shrimp on the top, is the way to go. I am one of those people, who like to go out and eat something, I could not have prepared myself. Providence is one of those places, where I can do that. Very well prepared food. One Star of is because I've seen all the Dishes before. In this Caliber, I expect a Surprise or two. The Wine Pairing was very good. Coffee is a few bucks extra. Bill 1 Person 123+Tax&Tips. Will definitely be back."

"We came here to celebrate our anniversary. The whole night was everything that I had expected and more!
Their service was excellent. Even the valets were attentive after we had parked on the street. We were welcomed and seated immediately. We were given adequate time to settle in and the wait staff and the bussing staff were all fantastic! Given the high prices you might expect a little snobbery, but there was absolutely none. Truly outstanding service!
Then there is the food. It was amazing! We chose the Chef's Menu, so we very luckily had come with big appetites! 15 courses of bliss! We were excited for and really liked the wagyu but come here if you love all seafood! And I recommend the wine pairing too!!"

"As always, Providence delivers with great ingredients, magical combinations and exotic seafood selections. The decor is certainly simple but also elegant in a very modern, California style.
We went for the three-course menu and thoroughly enjoyed the starters and main course. However, when it came to the deserts, we found a definite departure from the more natural approach we tasted in the other courses. So, the finish was a bit artificial, with too much work being done with the ingredients which resulted in muted flavors that were over-powered by an overall sweetness.
So the deserts are an area that needs some attention to match the pureness of the other dishes."

"I took my fiancé to providence for her special birthday dinner. We got 3 apps which were all amazing!!!! Our main dishes is what, we felt, lacked. I had the steak and she had the black bass with sweet breads. Both very disappointing. Steak was chewy and the added Dijon sauce was disappointing. Dish was accompanied by a bone marrow side, which was GREAT and something I've always wanted to try. The black bass was ok and the sweet breads were prepared very nice. I feel I've actually had a better steak at Outback, sad to say. The most disappointing moment of the night was getting home and finding not everything boxed up! The half eaten bone marrow wasn't in the box!! Very sad!! Spending close to $500 on a dinner has never been so disappointing."

"Did 5 course tasting menu. Everything was great, but sea bass was spectacular. Sommelier helped pick a Rhone white that worked beautifully. Our server was passionate about the food and very knowledgeable about the preparation. I would probably order the 3 course menu from left side of menu next time, mainly because I have a big appetite. But I felt the whole experience lives up to the hype. A special place for a special occasion."

"This was a wonderful experience that just didn't blow me away. The service/ theatre was perfect. The ambience sufficient. The food, at times, great... But not earth shattering as the price and the hype would lead you to believe. The wine pairings, to me, only adequate.
Overall... A good foodie experience. That being said, if I return, I will not go for a tasting menu for the regular offerings actually looked better than much of what I received in the "chefs tasting menu""

"Providence has an exceptionally pleasant space and warm, informed, attentive service. The food is creative and perfectly prepared and presented. It is also very, very expensive. As one for whom that makes it quite a reach, I hope at that level for something transcendently great. I am not sure the food reached quite that level, at least not for me, though it was certainly excellent. But in the end I prefer food that's a bit less understated. "The service was outstanding. The wait staff was very attentive. I got the 5 course tasting with wine pairing. I would definitely suggest the wine pairing. It had some amazing wines! The food was also delicious. I left quite stuffed at the end of the meal. I don't know how people can eat the 15 courses! 5 was definitely adequate. I am not a big seafood person, but everything that I ate I very much enjoyed. If you can afford this pricey gem then I would definitely suggest it. One of the nicest restaurants in LA with the service and food to back up its reputation."

"As hard core foodies we try to select restaurants where the food (and wine) are the most important, and where the noise level and inter-table spacing accommodate civilized, non-shouting conversation. Providence was worth a significant car ride and we can recommend it highly - sophisticated but not overly fussy food (we did the 5 course tasting menu with starred items), nice mixtures of tastes while still being able to taste the primary ingredients, all beautifully presented. Not cheap, but worth it, and great for a special occasion."

"So very disappointing. My husband and I were expending the calibre of Melisse, where we dine about two-three times/year and it was so...not.The maitre'd was either having a rough night or was still in training. Dropped one of the spot prawns (one that he didn't haphazardly choplike the others) he was preparing on the floor and was clueless about wine reqs.Despite having called twice in advance and confirming they'd have a gluten free dessertwaiting for hubbie's bday, they did not.Food was ok, but overall a real let down.Happy to pay for a fine dining experience and we will continue to do so... at Melisse."
