Review 7 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"Bistro Bis is elegant and comfortable, the staff was very welcoming. Their homemade bread, served warm with unsalted butter is perfect: crunchy crust and airy soft inside. I loved my salmon dish, but the escargot appetizer was a slight disappointment. The presentation was great but the little buggers need help (thats why they are usually doused in garlic and butter), the green sauce was not up to the task. Red snapper appetizer a stand out, and steak frites were very good, but have had better steak elsewhere (Rays). Frites were fabulously done, although my husband said they were a bit salty. Dessert of fig bread pudding and fig ice cream was a wonderful combination, the candied oranges a delightful zing."

Review 8 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"I've had a bunch of good experiences here, however...

I usually order the Steak Frites, which is usually a bargain for a great steak. On my most recent trip, however, the steak was downright tough. Not the usual quality I've come to expect from this place. I sent the steak back, but by the time it was re-delivered, my guest had finished his meal and I found myself scarfing it down in a few minutes. So while I've had some great experiences at this place, the quality wasn't great this week.

Review 14 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"My mom, aunt, and 83-year-old grandmother dined there this past Saturday evening for dinner. I'd been there once for brunch and loved it. Again, the food and service were impeccable and we were seated right next to the fireplace. Our server was polite and available, and the manager, Don was especially attentive. My grandmother is a no frills kind of woman and is typically uncomfortable in such a setting. However, Don went out of his way to make sure my grandmother felt right at home and that her every wish was granted. She didn't have any special wishes, but I think she liked the reassurance. She also subscribes to the mentality that we will not be served enough food unless we go to a buffet. She had to wrap her extra food to go."

Review 16 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"Bistrot Bis had everything good that you would expect from a restaurant on the Washingtonian Top 100 list. My only complaint was the somewhat inane smooth jazz music they played in the background (which, however, I stopped noticing once the place filled, though)."

Review 17 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"Excellent dining experience...Bistro Bis is one of the best restaurants in DC. Their wine list is gorgeous; cheese plate is a must. Everything is good here, but I find the daily specials to be exceptional. Desserts are also fantastic. I recommend Bistro Bis, esp. for those who dine out for the "experience" -- lovely evening with exceptional food. Bistro Bis never disappoints."

Review 18 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"The food was flat, nothing popped for me. Still good, but not excellent. The lamb was okay, nothing amazing, same as the pork chop. Both were very nice cuts, however, capable of stuffing someone if they decided to indulge in a lot of bread prior to the entree. The pierogi stuffed with butternut squash was the highlight of the pork chop dish. The escargot were buried in other flavors, making it difficult to accent the escargot, but still a treat as escargot have become a forgotten dish in many restaurants today. The dessert was the best part of the meal. Lychee and pear...great combination! The two different layers of sweet hit the tongue at different moments giving an excellent flavor profile. The meal definitely built its way up."

Review 20 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"I had read many good and mixed reviews about this place so a few friends and I decided to give it a try. I think I even read somewhere that this was one of B.O.'s favorite places when he was small time. I would have to say that the overall experience was just okay. My frisee was fantastic but my veal chop was just average to boring. I was really hoping that it would get a "wow" but instead it got an "eh." Two standout dishes among my friends were the pork chop and the beef bourguignon. I will say that the decor was not as stuffy as I thought a capital hill establishment would have been but the service was terrible. I wouldn't blame our waiter becuase I think they were just understaffed (but it's a Saturday night!). He seemed to be servi"

"We had brunch on Valentines Day. The service was impeccable. The food was outstanding! I had the eggs Chesapeake, the hint of Virginia ham with the crab was perfect. My husband had the 3 egg omelette and a special request was handled perfectly. Oh, I can't forget about the Smoked salmon! That was the best that I've ever had, meant to ask where they get it from, but forgot! Will be back for dinner the next time we are in the city!"

Review 29 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"Service was outstanding, as was the food. The steak tartare was the unexpected highlight, and was the best example I've had in DC. The Duck Hash was very good, as was the Croque Madame, though in future I will ask for a steak knife to facilitate cutting through the (deliciously salty) thick-cut ham.

A wonderful, low-key, food-centric place to grab weekend brunch, a business lunch, or a romantic dinner. Highly recommended.

"Bistro Bis was spectacular! We had wonderful food, wonderful service, and an incredible evening! We always use a restaurant's bread as an opening salvo in determining whether we would return for another meal...we would go back to Bistro Bis solely for the bread! Review 31 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"We went for Valentine's Day, and it was pretty full. We made reservations 2 weeks in advance and most time slots were booked. While we looked over the wine list, the waiter brought cheese puffs "from the kitchen". They were pretty good, and the bread was very fresh. I had the beet salad and risotto. Both were very good. The salad was delicious, and the risotto had an interesting mix that was surprisingly good. My boyfriend had the beef and mussels and loved them. He has a pit for a stomach and was actually quite full."

Review 32 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"It was our first time eating at Bistro Bis, as we went for a nice Valentine Dinner. The restaurant has very nice decor and we were seated promptly. The waiter was very nice and helpful in us choosing out our appetizers and main courses. The food was very savory, and I would definitely recommend their glazed pork chop (although they give it some fancy name). My only problem was the wait in between our appetizers and main course was over 25 minutes long. Even with this setback, all in all, it was a very good restaurant, and I will most likely visit there again."

"I have been coming here for years and have yet to be disappointed by the food. The chef always delivers. The interior of the restaurant was a little bare, but very nice. There was a slight vibration while we were there, we think it must have been underground trains or something, but we didn't notice after about 5 minutes. We got the Eggs Benedict and Corned Beef Hash, both of which were delicious. I hate onions and the chef very kindly made me a serving of Hash without, even though the dish is pre-prepared with them. I was very grateful. Our server was very nice. Service took a little long but I think they were busier than expected. Will def go back, want to try dinner!"

Review 37 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"Food was generally very good, although the number of menu choices was quite limited -- about 8 entrees. A pork chop was truly excellent. Wine list was extensive but had few wines that we recognized and high prices. Dessert options were not all that appealing, perhaps because by that time we were not hungry. A petit four platter had tasty tidbits but not even one petit four. We were there the Friday after the great snows so the restaurant was uncrowded but still managed to be very noisy, evidently has very reflective decor. Service was very pleasant -- attentive but not intrusive."

Review 38 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"It was so nice to be out and about after the blizzard of 2010 and the staff at Bistro Bis made us feel very welcome. The server was a little pushy on some items (wine and particular dishes); fortunately for him, they fit what we were in the mood for! The presentation of the desserts warranted a picture (and I took one)! The only real downside was that my colleague ordered coffee with his dessert, and it never arrived."

Review 42 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"We had a most pleasant dining experience. I took my bf, who is very picky, for his 44th birthday. He was most impressed. Both food and service were excellent. Portions were generous. And for once we could actually carry on a conversation without having to shout. The cloth benches and carpeted floors helped immensely to absorb sound. Handsome restaurant without being overdone. Tastefully elegant. Would go again for a special occasion, but could not afford to go on a weekly basis."

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"I love the modern, chic, yet cozy feel of this place - nice wood panels along with a fireplace. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The french onion soup was amazing and the croque madame served with a salad between two massive onion rings was inventive. The chocolate "soup" was quite delicious as well. Everything was quite good but made me ready for a nap. Service was a bit slow but otherwise fine."

Review 47 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"Dinner at Bistro Bis is dependably delicious. It's always hard to decide among the interesting appetizers, but the beet or endive salads are superb. We sampled the mushroom risotto and the scallops on this trip -- they were well-prepared. The only drawback was not having room for dessert. Bistro Bis can be noisy, especially if you are in or close to the busy bar area, packed with Hill staffers and lobbyists. So ask for the back dining room and enjoy a leisurely conversation over a great dinner."

Review 57 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"We celebrated a birthday with 4 girlfriends for lunch. We ordered different entrees and desserts so we could sample different offerings. The food was amazing! I started with a Salade Frisée au Lardons. The lamb, Gigot d’Agneau Rôti, was especially wonderful---perfectly seasoned, with carrots, pearl onions, mushrooms and gnocchi. The desserts were all spectacular and dessert should not be missed at Bis. We had dense chocolate cake with chestnut puree and candied chestnuts, fig bread pudding with fig sorbet and fig conserve, and panne cotta rolled in toasted hazelnuts. The birthday girl's dessert was treated to a birthday greeting written in chocolate on the plate with candle. The staff was truly gracious and we will return again and again!"

"I went during Restaurant Week, which may have affected the quality of the food, but I was disappointed. The food was alright, certainly not great. "The food was excellent down the line. We also experienced something unusual and extremely pleasing. We called in advance just to see if by any chance a wonderful appetizer could be ordered, even though for our dinner date, that appetizer was not listed on the menu. I spoke with Shaun, and he said he would see if that could be arranged. When we were seated that night, and when our waiter came over, he reported (without our asking first) that Shaun was indeed able to arrange for that appetizer to be available. We ordered it, and were delighted with it. Finally, our waiter, Denis, was as good as they come in every possible way. Overall, a terrific and memorable evening!"

"I did not have a good experience here...perhaps it was because I went here during restaurant week. The restaurant was very busy when we came. It was three hours later that we stepped out after 3 courses. Maybe we ordered the wrong things...the onion soup was 70% cheese which is just too overwhelming, the salmon was fishy, and the pork was overcooked like crazy. The creme brulee was worth the wait though. But that was the only thing that was worth it about Bistro Bis."

"What a disappointment! Never been before. Went for DC restaurant week. Special menu had limited selections with many items surcharged. Ordered 2 beers to be served when soup came. They came 15 min beforehand. Onion soup was good, but not great. Potage St. Germaine was initially lukewarm. When returned, it was hot, but thin and overwhelmed by smoked bacon - no pea flavor. Pork chop very tough, and even though of even thickness, not evenly cooked. Both it and the coq au vin plates were almost all meat, with starch and veggies served in condiment-sized portions. Apple tart desert was excellent. Too noisy to enjoy conversation with my spouse directly across from me at a normal-sized table for 2 in a corner setting. Never returning!"

"Overall, very good dining experience during Restaurant Week, a hectic time for most participating restaurants. My pate appetizer and trout main course were excellent. Review 73 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"I went here with my parents who were visiting from out of town during Restaurant Week. The food was fabulous -- it's French bistro food with a twist. The mussels come in a light cream sauce with spicy ham, and the salmon comes with a spicy mustard seasoning, and everything is much more flavorful than standard French fare. The endive salad was also fantastic. Desserts are amazing -- we had both the apple and pear tarts, which were amazing. Definitely on the pricey side, but a great find for restaurant week!"

Review 76 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"Our waiter, Dennis, was the best waiter I've had in a long time. The appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts were all perfection. I had salmon and my boyfriend had Rockfish - as two people used to good seafood, both plates impressed us. Also had a bottle of sparking wine, which was high quality. Highly recommend this restaurant for couples looking to get out of the house and enjoy each other's company."

Review 82 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"We went to Bistro Bis for Restaurant Week. The dinner was $35.10 per person but we each ended up spending $80. To be honest for the amount of money you pay the food was not that great. I had the Steak and fries and it was OK at best. The salad I ordered was average. I think you could get the same type of food for much less at any other place. Will not go back again. Service was great, our waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly."

"I thought our service was incredibly slow - not leisurely - but we were packed in there for Restaurant Week after all, and the food was delicious. I especially appreciated our waiter bringing me an "extra dessert" - I ordered the apple tart (absolutely delicious!!) but wanted a taste of the chocolate soup, and he was able to do that for me. I would definitely want to return another time to this restaurant."

Review 84 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"Had a fabulous table for 4 during restaurant week at Bistro Bis and a great time. The four of us savored a variety of dishes, some of the standouts included, their onion soup, the entree of sea scallops and the apple tart. Service was good, but not great. We ordered a bottle of Cote du Rhone and 4 glasses of Chardonnay arrived at our table. When we reminded our waiter we had ordered a bottle, he returned with 4 glasses of the Cote du Rhone - still no bottle. He mentioned the mistake would be taken care of although, we never discovered what that meant. Clearing the table also was an issue. We had to ask that the bread basket and bread plates be removed when dessert arrived. Nothing major, but these minor problems can be irksome."

"Our meal was delicious (onion soup, endive salad, lamb shank - fell off the bone, duck confit, apple croustade, pear tart). I would come here again and again! I couldn't stop talking about the lamb for days, it was the best I've ever had. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the various dishes and took the time to explain them fully to us (we were one of the first reservations, so maybe that's why he had the time...?), very appreciated."

Review 90 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"The food was too good to just rate "very good," though perhaps not at the very top of the list. For appetizers we had the crock of onion soup, which was so delicious it makes my mouth water just thinking of it, and the pork pate which was very good. The coq au vin was by far the best I've had. With the cubes of bacon fat already accompanying it, I can't see how it could be improved. The mushroom bordelaise was only so-so. The apple tart and chocolate soup with banana sorbet were very good. For a hotel restaurant it had a warm pleasant atmosphere and tables for groups and couples. If you're taking advantage of the free-with-validation parking across the street, you may want to been breadcrumbs to find your way back through the maze."

Review 91 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"The wine was fabulous (by the glass menu). Our guest had the mussels in cream sauce which he found delicious, but no bread was served to enjoy the sauce until we asked. There must have been 2 dozen plus mussels--very generous. I had the beet salad--terrific! My husband and our guest had the rockfish and really enjoyed it. My own choice--the chicken salad--was less inspiring. The chicken breast was tasty and large, but the salad that accompanied the chicken was tiny. A little more greens, a litle less chicken would improve this entree as would perhaps a revision of the description of this dish. The desserts were delicious and portions quite adequate."

Review 93 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"Bistro Bis was a really great dining experience. The atmosphere is nice and the restaurant is a lot larger than it appears. The food is delicious. I had the mussels and they were excellent! Such wonderful flavors. The apples added such great unexpected element to the mussels. Next I had the duck which was quite delicious and a great first time experience for me. Now last but not least.…the white chocolate blood orange creme brûlée. One word.....AMAZING!!! I can't even describe how good it was. The top wasn't burnt, instead there was this great crispy sugar crust. Yum, I could go back for the creme brûlée alone but everything I had was good. I would definitely recommend to anyone interested in good French cuisine in a nice atmosphere."

Review 94 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 2.0 out of 5 (Fair)
"We arrived on time for our 5:30 reservation, but they were not ready to seat diners until 5:45pm. The pear salad with blue cheese tasted mostly of vinegar. The scallops were under cooked and barely warm. The pork chop tasted overwhelmingly of hickory. The room was very over-heated to the point of making dining unpleasant for both of us. This is the second time we've come to this restaurant with an Open Table reservation and, despite a near empty dining room, been assigned one of the least desirable seats in the room. It makes us feel like they view Open Table diners as second-class citizens. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants, but it will be a while before we return."

Review 95 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"We went here for date night during Restaurant week and we really enjoyed it. We started with beet salad and pate and both were delicious. The French Onion soup looked great but my husband didn't want to order it. For entrees I had scallops and my husband had duck. I LOVED the scallops and was full after eating only half. I tasted the duck and liked it even though I am not a huge duck fan. For desert we had an apple tart and creme brulee. The best part was the little sugar cookies on the creme brulee. They were chewy and delicious. Service was very polite and unobtrusive. Good for a romantic dinner. Very friendly staff and very plentiful. Only complaint is the tables for 2 in the back are very close together."

Review 96 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 2.0 out of 5 (Fair)
"We arrived for our reservation at 6:15pm and were seated at a table in the bar. We wanted to sit in the dining room, but management made it seem that we were at a special table. Did not enjoy having dinner in the bar. Cold drafts every time the front door opened. Our appetizers were good - enjoyed the onion soup (the best part of the meal). The duck confit was overly salty to the point of not being edible and pistachio crusted scallops were a soggy mess. Our dining partners were satisfied with their choices but not enthusiastic. Dessert was ok. We realize that Bistro Bis is just that...a bistro, but the quality of the food wasn't there.

Nice place to meet for a drink, but there are better dining options.

Review 97 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"The four of us enjoyed our lunches during restaurant week. The trout was thought to be the better choice over the coq au vin (salty). We all thought the onion soup was terrific and would return for that alone. I have found that onion soup tends to be overly salted and theirs was delicious and on the sweet side. The creme brulee, apple tart and tiramisu were superb.
The service couldn't have been better; the waitress was exceptionally pleasant and helpful when we asked her for opinions and they did reserve the table near the fireplace for us.
All and all it was a successful lunch and worth the metro ride from Bowie.

Review 98 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 1.0 out of 5 (Poor)
"While I would like to think that the very serious delay we experienced in receiving our meal was a fluke, it was not handled well at the time. Although generous amends were made when the bill was presented, our waiter was nowhere to be found and we were given no information about the problem while it was happening; we simply were left sitting there for over 30 minutes, wondering what had happened to our order. I will not take friends or business associates to this restaurant in the future, and I will advise colleagues of my unfortunate experience. A shame, because the food, when it arrived, was delicious."

"We were celbrating a new job and this was a wonderful place...and we were fortunate it was Restaurant Week so we got an extra special "deal". "Very nice meal during a busy lunch hour. Good creativity in food, especially with the chocolate soup. Apparently this was Restaurant Week and there was a special prix fixe menu, but it was rather confusing because everything was mixed together and most all items on the menu had "+$___" markings; I would have preferred to have a regular a la carte menu, and then have them do a separate page for the prix fixe without all the extra charges."

Review 103 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"We went to Bistro Bis for Restaurant Week, and it was fantastic. As expected, the food was simply fabulous (though I recommend the lamb over the veal -- my date "out-ordered me"!). What was a truly pleasant surprise was the incredible wait staff, especially given the Restaurant Week crowds. Our lovely waitress allowed my date and I to order apps before deciding on entrees which is something hurried waiters during this week do not usually allow. She treated us with the same attentiveness and patience as you would expect when paying full price. As a RW connoisseur, this was the best RW service I have ever received."

Review 108 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"I enjoyed dining here for lunch this week, Winter Restaurant Week. They had a good variety for a Restaurant Week menu. The service was great, the food was elegant but not too high-brow (portions were reasonable). The place is kind of cafe-ish. I guess this is because it is a French restaurant. But because of this, I wouldn't highly recommend it for romance, I imagine it may get a little loud during dinner. It is a pretty small place. I enjoyed the food and service and I feel like the money was worth it. My bf and I had the onion soup, herb-crusted salmon (dijon mustard and a hint of cheesy = yum), Coq Au Vin Chicken (very herby almost cinnamony tender chicken) and tried the pear tart and creme brulee."

Review 112 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"Visited Bistro Bis for dinner during DC Restaurant Week. Can't say enough good things about the experience, which was certainly my best restaurant week dining experience ever. While there were a number of choices on the menu that required supplements, there were more than enough options that didn't - and that were delicious. The meal was exceptional - beautiful food and good portion sizes. What's more, our server and all of the associated wait staff, were warm and attended to our every need (water glasses were refilled regularly, bread basket was immediately refilled etc.) I can't say enough good things."

Review 117 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"Despite the delicious food and the attentive service, Bistro Bis has its downsides. The restaurant does its best to utilize every inch of space by squeezing more tables into its intimate dinning room than it has any right to. Feel lucky if you have made an advance reservation for three or four and are seated in one of the few cozy and comfortable booths. If you are unlucky enough to dine alone or with just one other person, then you will be seated at a two-top, and wedged so tightly into a row that you will become a part of the conversation with the parties seated on either side.

Another caution...the restaurant also dings its customers on beverage prices by charging per glass. I paid $13.50 for three glasses of plain old iced tea.

Review 118 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 1.0 out of 5 (Poor)
"Very disappointing experience due to service. We were explicitly offered seats in the dining room or at the bar where "we offer full menu service" - wouldn't have thought about the bar but since the maitre de suggested it, and the bar was quieter, we decided to eat there. BIG mistake: 15 minutes before the bartender even acknowledged our presence, only then did we get a drink. The bar wasn't even crowded. From there on it never improved - the guy was totally missing in action. We had to repeatedly request bread, water, another drink. We were looking for a "date night" out night on the town, and instead had an exercise in frustration. In fairness, the dining room had lots of waiters - probably would have been a better experience there."

Review 122 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"The food was not what we expected. We went there for new years thinking it would be nice to celebrate the occasion but felt that for the price point places like cafe Belga or Oya offer better selection and value. The Onion soup was generic, endive salad was good, escargot was different (felt out of place). Entrees were better but my filet was over cooked."

Review 124 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 2.0 out of 5 (Fair)
"We made reservations for New Year's Eve at 9:30pm. When we arrived, we were shown to our table, a table for two placed very closely to two other tables. Getting into the seat against the wall was difficult and the neighbors were visibly annoyed. We could hear everything the couples on both sides of us were saying.

My boyfriend was constantly bumped by the wait staff as they brought and took away dishes and drinks, not only to our table but to the neighboring tables. Not once did anyone apologize. A busboy almost knocked over a glass of wine (we caught it) and dropped food clumsily on the table.

The food was pretty good, but overall, we would not recommend this restaurant because it was not a nice dining environment.

"My 2nd time here was a great experience. My girlfriend and I came on the evening of 12/12/2009.

We started with the scallop dumplings and beet salad. For entrees we had the beef bourguignon and roast duck special. Everything was excellent, although I found the dinner portions a bit much (not that I'd complain too much about leftovers). For dessert she had the chocolate mousse with a pine nut brittle/crust. I tasted a bit (amazing!) while I sipped on my hot cappuccino.

Our server was very attentive and did a great job with the food recommendations and wine pairings. He made us feel very welcomed and I will definitely be back again.

Overall Rating 1.0 out of 5 (Poor)
"While I hope this was a freak occurance, I'd say that our experience was awful. We went there on a Saturday night and all started well. Unfortunately, after we were seated, everything seemed to go wrong. First, we ordered a 2005 vintage for about 50bucks. We were given a 2006, which was immideately removed from the table and placed on the serving station--we couldn't pour our own, and they were too busy to do it for us. Then, both of our meals were mixed up--neither I nor my partner recieved the meal we ordered. It took a while to correct the error. There wasn't really an apology or a discount, which I feel with that many things going wrong ought to have happened."

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"On a Saturday night, Bistro Bis provided for a pleasant dining experience. The Bistro Wine List was a pleasant surprise with decent values. The food was good: exception was the overly rich escargot. The Quenelles appetizer and Beef Bougoneone were excellent."

"We had a great brunch for six. Overall, the food was excellent, but the Croque Madam was leaden and the Chicken Crepe was a little salty. Service was just right: attentive, friendly, but unobtrusive."

Review 143 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"My family and I have been going to Bistro Bis off and on for a few years now. Recently we had Thanksgiving lunch there and it was a really great experience. We hope to repeat the same for next year. We were placed upstairs in the Mezzanine. It was a little hot but otherwise my party of 8 had a very nice time. Our server was very attentive and patient. The food was delicious as usual. We paid roughly 65-75 per person but it was worth not having to slave in your home kitchen for hours and then slave again cleaning up the mess."

Review 147 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"The oysters gourmandise appetizer was very tasty, but the duck confet was overcooked which dried the meat out and made the dish barely eatable (saved by the sauce). The macaroni and cheese side dish was very good, and the service was friendly and attentive."

Review 148 for Bistro Bis

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"We visted Bistro Bis for the first time on Saturday, which I understand is a good night to go; not as busy. Service was top-notch, and the food was very good but a bit more minimalist than what I was expecting for a "bistro." The duck liver parfait was outstanding, the sweetbread entree was very good but it could have used another sweetbread and a tad more salt in the coating; the rest of the ingredients were far more subtle than what was expected given the description on the menu; more "essence of". My husband had the salad with goat cheese fritters and the lamb entree. Good execution but, again, no obvious tie-back to the menu description. This is not to say that the entrees were not enjoyable, just not what was expected. Good wine!"
