The Village Anchor Pub & Roost is nestled in the historic village of Anchorage, KY inside of the Louisville metro area. We are a bistro-pub featuring upscale comfort food with a twist. We also feature a craft beer selection of 62 labels, a boutique wine list & we are on the Urban Bourbon Trail housing 68 different bourbon selections. We have two patios & a covered terrace with a roaring double-sided fireplace for cool nights & outdoor dining. Given our large outdoor dining space, table location preferences cannot be guaranteed, but we will provide you a memorable dining experience.
"VA's weekly specials, featuring 1/2 bottles of wine on Wed, keep us coming back! Service was excellent, menu has a bit of everything & decor is unique & fun. It can get slightly loud but that's b/c everyone's having so much fun!"

"I don't give reviews often, but I wanted to share a few things about Village Anchor in hopes that it will improve. I love the food and cocktails, and the service is typically good. We've had some wonderful servers. I've been several times, and it is a favorite. The quality is consistent. The environment is really hard to beat in Louisville.
The other consistency is the rudeness you're greeted with when you walk in the door. The hosts aren't friendly, reservation or not. In fact, I've tried to make reservations by leaving a message over the phone, and no one calls back to confirm. I really love going to Village Anchor for many reasons, but the host staff isn't one of them. I'm more likely to choose a different restaurant because of it."

"Great food and great atmoshphere. Only downfall is length of time to get the food to you. I believe they have a very small kitchen. The food is very very good."

"Very enjoyable experience. Interesting and diverse menu and excellent execution of dishes. Good place for a couple or maybe 4 diners but very noisy and not easy to hear with larger parties. Will be back!"

"We always enjoy the Village Anchor and have been seated in many different locations within the restaurant. However, this last visit was very loud and made difficult to hear the friends seated directly across from us at the table for 4. Next time we will NOT plan to dine on an evening that has a large group in the same room or we will wait until warmer weather can accommodate outdoor seating comfortably."

"Great place for Girls' Night Out! Great wine list and they were running a Derby special for 50% of all alcohol. The short ribs were fall-off the bone tender and yummy. My friends had the fried chicken and shrimp n' grits and both enjoyed their meals. Just wish the menu was just a little larger - so many appetizers, but limited entrees for people wanting to eat a bit lighter."

"The location is welcoming and the patio, covered on this evening, is pleasant and energetic. Diners can enjoy Rod Stewart and jazz while they dine. I went for the Stilton blue cheese and potato soup and the shrimp and grits. The soup was the best potato soup I've ever had. Not for those that don't prefer Blue cheese though as the deep, rich blue flavor abounds. The homemade bacon chunks are smoky, thick and just downright good. Unique presentation of Shrimp and grits. A whole length andouille, homemade I assume on top of a mound of grits, four jumbo shrimp and fried okra. The fried okra was perfect and this diner doesn't prefer okra. I did ask for and add additional hot sauce to the dish, but I prefer shrimp and grits to have heat."

"A great choice for a ladies night out but not a diner. This is strictly a drinks with light fare kind of place. The menu is not very impressive, but the overpriced comfort food is more than surprising to your wallet. I wouldn't return here unless it was for a business meeting over bourbon on a Thursday night."

"We were seated at the bottom of the stairs down from the kitchen, so maybe that's why it seemed so noisy - lots of traffic by our table. Would have preferred a few lighter options - lots of cheese, butter and sauces - but the food tasted great, the people were friendly, and the atmosphere was good. Will know to pick a different table next time."

"Love bringing clients and friends to Village Anchor. They're always impressed with food and service. We like the lunch , brunch and dinner menus. I brought my daughter and sister this past visit. You now have new customers. They loved the restaurant. Especially the fish tacos and ahi salad. Thank You!! Sherri M."

"Althought this is one of my favorite spots, they always try to seat me outside...in the winter I don't want to spend $100 to sit under a heater in an enclosed patio to eat dinner."

"Servers cleared our plates before we done eating as well as our drinks. We had to stop them on four separate occasions from taking our plates. Asking for more cream and chocolate chips for our coffee was like asking for gold nuggets. Very disappointed. We have eaten here many times and loved it. Very sad to see the service as poor as it was when we spent $250.00 for four people. Papa John's would not be happy knowing how bad the service was."

"The 4 of were placed at a very small table that was jammed in a bay window and another table. The waiter could only reach the corner of our table and had to lean over me. It was so loud I couldn't hear the others at my table. The food was eclectic but taste only mediocre. I doubt I'll go back. I was expecting much better from what friends told me."

"First experience was very good overall, with excellent food and enjoyable ambiance for a date night with my wife! Service left something to be desired, but was at least acceptable. This is more costly than our regular date night fare (cost about $80 for 2, including small appetizer, 2 entrees, 1 dessert to share, and tip), but the food quality was worth that price for a special occasion. Overall, would go back again!"

"The food is always amazing. And they're very king to work around my special requests every time I go there. There were only a couple of areas of improvement; 1) I had put on the notes in the open table reservation it was my birthday, yet no one wished me a happy birthday-maybe those notes were not communicated to them (which would explain why I was seated at the bar versus a table as I had requested); 2) Lisa the bar tender was super nice, translating into super busy-would have loved to see more teamwork from what I can presume to be the general manager (young guy in a suit that was continuously at the host stand staring around the room), waited 20 min for wine top off and plate clearing."

"Menu is wide-ranging from simple appetizers to full chef specialty selections. Service was prompt and courteous every step of the way. One nice touch was the real fireplaces that make a chilly evening quite bearable. The Hotter Brown is always a delight and fills the tummy with great taste. On this night, I enjoyed the sea bass and the curry-spiced rice gave it a real zip!"

"Over the last week I went to Village Anchor three times for lunch to eat one thing...their Hot Brown. Couldn't believe how delicious it was, so I went back to verify that it wasn't an one off event. (Okay I loved it that much!!!) It never disappointed and those who went with me and sampled other dishes absolutely loved their finds too.
At lunch Village Anchor also offer Pick 3 lunch specials which allow you to sample reduced portions of a broader range of their outstanding menu selections. I didn't didn't choose that, but for those who did it appeared they enjoyed Soup or Salad, Main Dish or Sandwich and a Side of fresh fruit, fries or cole slaw for only a very reasonable price of $14.
Can't wait to go back!"
