Menton
Menton, Chef Barbara Lynch’s Fort Point fine dining restaurant, is the final concept to complete her Fort Point trifecta and joins neighbors Sportello and Drink. Located in FP3, the AIA award-winning luxury condominium complex, Menton radiates an understated elegance and offers several beautiful spaces to dine including the 60-seat dining room, a 12-seat Chef’s Table, and the 45-seat private dining room. The restaurant, a glamorous expression of fine dining, was designed by Cheryl and Jeffrey Katz of C&J Katz and features a subtle palette of grays with touches of silver and black. The cuisine of Menton, an artful blend of French technique and Italian soul, displays Executive Chef Colin Lynch’s talent for precision, refinement, and visual artistry in the form of two menu options: a four-course prix-fixe and a seven-course chef’s tasting. Guests will relax and enjoy a carefully choreographed culinary experience under the direction of Chef Colin Lynch and GM Meredith Gallagher.

"Huge Barbara Lynch fan. Love Stir classes, Butcher Shop, B&G, Make a lot of stuff from the Stir Cookbook. It was our five year anniversary and we wanted to treat ourselves. We did the four course prix fixe. My husband's first two courses were not great. Dessert was way too floral. I had the asparagus for first course and was not wowed. My chicken and halibut were delicious. Ambience was not warm and I felt like I should whisper the whole time. Overall, very expensive meal for both us to come away thinking that it was anything less than phenomenal."

"The food was all very good. Interesting and subtle flavors. Our waiter was very good but tried a bit too hard to put on airs. They offered some tasty little treats between courses. They were gracious and generous when they made a small mistake on our order, quickly rectifying it. Overall it was a wonderful experience."

"We celebrated our 20th anniv last weekend & had a terrific 4-course meal. The atmosphere is lovelywith nice space b/w tables & a perfect noise level. The waitstaff are very professional. The amuse bouche (3 I think!) and courses flowed out of the kitchen-quite the choreography. However, the pace, from menu selection to paying the bill felt rushed. There was little time to enjoy each step or review the wine menu. It's was hard to have much conversation since we were interrupted every few minutes by a server describing the next presentation. As soon as we finished, the bill was put on the table & quickly picked up again. We were there just over 1.5 hours-not too long for a fine dining occasion. It became clear they needed the table."

"If you are up for spending the money, Menton does not disappoint. Tops in everything. The tasting menu with wine pairing was superb. So many flavors packed into those tasting courses. The wines were paired expertly -- so fun to taste the wine first and then taste again when the course arrives. Though you are there for quite a while with so many tasting courses, the pacing is quick and time flies by as you having so much fun. The service is excellent and so friendly, not stuffy at all. Great special occassion restuarant."

"I took my lady friend to Menton for her birthday, and I had the most amazing dining experience of my life. I had the chef's tasting menu--which turned out to be an endless parade of exquisite tastes and textures. My mouth will never be the same.
The service was outstanding. We were treated like royalty. A dapper, professional crew whisked in between courses to renew our place settings to a continual state of perfection.
I need to find another special occasion so that I can justify a return visit."

"Even with rather "constrained" dining styles aka pre-fix or tasting menu, there is great variety available. And the olfactory and gustatory journey my wife embarked on was quite stellar. A fantastic mix of textures, colors and tastes which don't overwhelm you volume wise but are quite satifying from an appetite perspective.
The only drawback ... the price ... it's hefty but worth it."

"A memorable dinning experience. The "Captain" that was our primary server was very knowledgeable and the servers explained in detail what each dish was. When told about food preferences they changed the dishes to accommodate our tastes (I do not care for sea food). This was one of the, if not the best meal I have had and priced as such..."

"An evening at Menton is a very special treat. The seven-course chef's tasting menu was absolutely spectacular. A simple list of ingredients is presented before several amuse bouche are presented. For some of the courses, multiple presentations are offered, allowing patrons to sample the same ingredient, prepared in a different format. Each morsel is a revelation; each ingredient highlighted and presented in an equally gorgeous and delicious plate. Each and every detail is pristine without being overly fussy. The waitstaff is one of the best I have seen in a very long time; they are highly informed and joyful as they attend to your every need. Menton is a sheer delight!"

"This was only our second time here but we had another great dining experience. Everything was great from service, to wine selection, to food. I chose not to get the wine pairings with my meal but asked our server for recommendations for wine for 2 of my 4 courses, and I was not disappointed. Very nice meal. Creative combinations of tastes. "My girlfriend has been bugging me to take her to Menton so, for her birthday, we went. All i can say is WOW!! The food was absolutely amazing and the wait staff was not only spot on they were as friendly as could be. Now I think it's a hard task for a wait staff to be available so you don't want for anything but so clse they hover around you. The staff at Menton was impeccable and the food shear perfection!"

"It's not bad, but it's not worth the price. Out of my four course prix fixe, two dishes were good (halibut, lamb) but simple, while the two others (kampachi, chocolate moelleux) were underwhelming -- the kampachi rather tasteless, the chocolate moelleux with a jelly-like texture. In addition, we had to wait about 30 minutes for our first bite (an amuse-bouche that tasted essentially like a cheese cracker) to arrive. They served a few other items in between that were similarly unconvincing. On the good side, the champagne (Aubry grand cru -- $28) and the cheese tray were excellent.
All in all, lame for a $400 dinner. Doesn't compare to L'Espalier, its closest equivalent price- and style-wise."

"This restaurant has so much buzz around it, I expected much more. The Ambiance is sterile, and it just doesn't make for a warm experience at all. This place screams stuffy. The food was excellent, but the chef tried to outdo himself so much that each item in the chef's tasting was competing with every other item. I would not return. For the really hefty price tag, it's not worth it. Go to Asta instead...new place, great tasting menu, warm environment and outstanding food."

"I hadn't been to Menton before. I booked a table for my husband's birthday and was surprised to hear from the restaurant a couple of days before our reservation, asking if we had any allergies or special dietary restrictions. Everyone who waited on us was friendly, professional, and made us feel well taken care of. We had the fixed price menu and I honestly can't decide which was my favorite course (foie gras, Scottish salmon, Colorado lamb). Each was complete perfection!"

"We had the Chef's tasting menu and it was FANTASTIC!!! The food was delicious and meticulously and carefully assembled in beautiful presentations. The ingredients were so fresh. Every course was delicious. The staff were extremely friendly and professional. The amount of food was absolutely perfect (I was worried it would be too much or too little). With the Chef's tasting, one of the staff recommended a fantastic wine that went perfectly with the entire meal. We loved it so much that friends of ours that were also in Boston for the marathon weekend went there for dinner two days later. They loved it too!"

"We each had the Chef's Tasting Menu with the wine pairing and sat back and let the chef and the staff take care of us. Each course was creative and superb and very well paired with the wines. It was fun to try wines that one would not normally experience and then to appreciate them even more so when paired with the special course. After the main courses and before dessert, we inserted a cheese course which was exquisite and made the evening even more special. The staff are very well trained and the meal with all of its activity of many, many courses and wines, was perfectly orchestrated. They achieved that fine balance of just the right amount of attention and service. It will definitely be on the calendar to go again."

"Our experience here was mixed. The decor had some beautiful aspects to it, but the overall noise level in the room, the lights from cars outside and the number of waitstaff running around detracted from a relaxing evening, not to mention occasional outbursts from the speaker system of astringent jazz. Once we got to our table, it was one hour before we received our first course. They did bring some delicious amuse de bouche before, but it was a long wait. The chef uses a very heavy hand with the salt which is a main basis for flavor. Portions were tiny, to the point that we were hungry after eating four courses. Flaws in the service included empty water glasses and an empty wine glass left one the table for more than a full course."

"The restaurant is in a large room surrounded by windows and the tables are placed at good distance from each other so that there was no interference from other tables and the table was roomy.

The dinner was not only tasty but also very entertaining.

"Wonderful menu for their take on restaurant week. Service was perfect as was the meal. I had a slight problem with some undercooked pork which was dealt with quickly with a smile and an apology AND a complementary glass of wine! The staff even apologized again at the end of the meal."

"I'm not sure we have ever had a dinner experience this perfect in Boston. The dining room is elegant and opulent - and there's so much space and openness yet richness and warmth. The service was impeccable - now I know why Menton has the reputation of such amazing service. There was always someone at our table doing just the right thing without intruding on our romantic dinner. And the FOOD!!! Just amazing. Every delicious bite was perfect and we left there feeling satiated but not overstuffed. The cocktails and wine are amazing too. I can't wait to go back!!!"

"We went to Menton hoping to be wowed by the food. The food was very good, but did not wow us. We have enjoyed many extraordinary meals in several countries, so the bar is fairly high. Nonetheless this was an enjoyable food experience. One thing we did not like is that we felt a bit rushed. At this price point we expect to have a slow, leisurely meal with wait staff being sensitive to our pace -- and we are slow food types. We felt that the courses came too quickly -- the desert was brought before we had even finished our wine. We were not sure if we were being rushed to free up the table or if that was what wait staff are generally instructed to do."

"This was quite possibly the best meal I've ever had EVER and I'm a huge foodie. The experience was great. People were taking their time with finishing up, so we sat in the lounge and had a few drinks on Menton before we sat down for the performance. I say performance because the whole night was so beautiful and beautifully choreographed. The food was outstanding. The restaurant is not big, which is nice because the noise level is low. Barbara Lynch happened to be there and she spent 15 minutes at our table. This was my food crush dream come true.
Can't wait to go back. The "unofficial restaurant week" deal made the experience more enjoyable because it was more affordable."

"I'm not the type to write a review but I had such a great experience I feel I must. I knew going in the food would be amazing, and it was. The wait staff was extremely knowledgable and attentive. We had six or so courses over three hours, it just flew by. Nothing but good things to say about our experience. It's a little pricy, but it was worth every penny!"
