"The staff were very nice & the food was delicious. However, there was a problem with the service. We didn't know who our server was, the dishes were explained one way, but were delivered in a totally different way. We were never asked if we wanted an adult beverage and constantly had to ask for water and coffee. I called the manager on Tuesday and he was to call me back on Wednesday after talking to our server. As of right now, the manager has not returned my call. We were given the excuse that there was a party of 25 and that's why there were so many problems. The manager gave me this same excuse and I mentioned to him that was not my problem. It will be interesting to see if the manager calls me back and offers any apology."

"I have never had to write a negative review in all the years I have utilized Open Table.
But this experience was so overwhelmingly poor that I felt I needed to give feedback.
The food was poor tasting and dried out. It was impossible to eat so we did not bother
eating our entree after a couple bites. When we asked for the check, not having said anything negative to
anyone, the waitress said, "I see you couldn't eat your entree because you ate too much
of your appetizer." Never even asked us why we didn't eat the entree. Won't ever be
coming back and will make sure I never recommend it to anyone."
But this experience was so overwhelmingly poor that I felt I needed to give feedback.

"I have been to AKA Bistro multiple times and brought a friend for her birthday. I was very disappointed, but luckily she enjoyed her lunch. I had the shaved spring vegetable salad, which was virtually tasteless. If there was a vinaigrette, I couldn't taste it, and the vegetables were very bland. The pork katsu on brioche with an egg on top sounded delicious but had little personality. She had rock shrimp tempura and then soba noodles, and was happy, so I will consider it just an off day for the kitchen on what I ordered. Though the room was nearly empty for lunch, with more people sitting outside, the service was pretty lackadaisical. However, I won't give up, and will be optimistic that next time AKA will be back to its usual form."

"We eat at AKA fairly regularly -- it is a very nice setting with interesting and well-prepared food. Service is generally quite good altho our last visit on a Friday night at 8:30, service was slow. It was also too warm in the restaurant that night, but as other diners finished their meals and left, the temperature was more comfortable -- we ran into friends that night who had eaten outdoors but moved inside for drinks and dessert because of pesty mosquitoes/"

"I have dined here one time before and live in the next town. It was a quiet evening, early in the week--not busy. I reserved with the notification that one of our party was a vegetarian. During the ordering process, where the maki/sushi rolls were reviewed, I asked for a small modification--omit the fish and just make an avocado + Cucumber roll or the equivalent. the poor server ferried the request to the chef and had to then relay back to us that "we just do DO that." I was shocked that omitting the seafood from a maki roll--which I have done IN JAPAN, IN FRANCE, and the world over without even a comment--was such a problem for this master chef. My dining partner was equally shocked and offended. The waiter was wonderful though!"

"I have only been for lunch and enjoyed it both times. Last time the food was very late. The waiter did apologize but I did knock the service because of it. Otherwise a lovely, creative and intriguing menu, well worth another trip. I love trying new items. This time I had the scallion pancake which was tasty and crisp with a duck confit. The fish batter on the fish and chips is the lightest and tastiest I have ever had!"

"Aka Bistro is one of Lincoln's hidden gems. They serve french bistro food and modern sushi - either or, not both. Perhaps as a result of the emphasis on fish in the japanese side of the house the french fish dishes are reliably outstanding. I am particularly fond of the roast cod."

"Very courteous reception! set the tone for a wonderful experience. the wait staff , attentive but not obtrusive. Things seemed to happen automatically...water glasses filled, ice brought...orders completed accurately. Very good hard crust rolls and two selections from the Dim Sum menu arrived much to our delight. We could have easily made a meal of just these selections had we made multiple orders, they were so tasty.
Selections of varied entrees were excellent, shared by all and judged to be above average. We lingered after eating. there was no pressure to depart as we enjoyed truly casual dining. We would all return for visits here and would highly recommend this restaurant to others. A wonderful leisurely sunday meal. High scores."

"The menu was varied enough to experience a nice balance between the French and the Japanese fares. The food was prepared well and presented in a visually interesting way. The wine list was, no surprise, French wines, and the Saki selection was good, but could have use a few more choices. The service was attentive at the front end of the evening, but tailed off as more diners arrived and our food was brought out without a lot of attention. The person who introduced himself as our server for the evening disappeared and was replaced by a variety of persons during the course of the evening, reappearing on occasion. Our dessert order was forgotten twice and added a good ten to fifteen minutes of waiting."

"We arrived on time for our reservation and were kept standing by the door for 30 minutes. Sent out champagne after 20 minutes as an apology for waiting. We also had a mixup on the entrees. We all thought the food was very good, but the wait really ruined the evening for us."

Even though we ordered (delicious) appetizers, we were STARVING by the time dinner came out - it was a full 70 minutes between app & entrée, and we ordered everything at once, and were among the first to be seated in the restaurant? Food is so good, we didn't want to spoil our appetites by filling up on extra bread.
TIMING definitely off the night we went - great waiter, but delay in getting our meals seemed out-of-the-ordinary & really felt draining -- not to be dramatic, but lack of communication was the crux of it. Waiter could have just helped set expectations WHILE we waited.
Will return - hope for better timing next time"

"omakase sashimi dinner had imaginative dishes like yellowtail topped with sea urchin roe and a think slice of radish. it was pricey, but much less than comparable meals in the city. the level of staffing and service and frequent changes of flatware are also unusual at this price. i just wish they would make it easier to get replenishments of their excellent baguettes."

"We went for the sushi but it is not offered for Sunday brunch. Perhaps our own fault, not having researched the menus fully. The croque monsieur featured cold ham, delicious but cold and melted cheese on the outside, not what I expected. The portobella frites were just that, fried mushrooms, not a grilled portabello with fries. Again, we should have asked for details.
Also, lots of young kids and babies around. Not ideal."

"Aka Bistro was easy to find, it's at the heart of Lincoln center. I had not expected to find a great restaurant out in the greater Boston area so we were pleasantly surprised to have a romantic evening planned at this one. The restaurant is french-asian, we were looking forward to enjoying the blend of the two. We opted for the chef tasting menu for two which comprised 7 courses, 4 sashimi 2 french & 1 dessert. Included as well was wonderfully baked french bread which we enjoyed as well. The service was excellent, non-intrusive and courteous and helpful."

"My husband and I went to AKA Bistro a week ago Saturday. We thought we had a reservation for restaurant week,when we got there we were told it ended so we shrugged it off as we were wrong and anticipated a nice dinner regardless. The food was very delicious & presented well, my husband is a highly trained chef and I have been in the restaurant business for over 30 years. We appreciate a nice restaurant. The only thing we would differently next time is, I would sit next to my husband in stead of across. We also were not crazy about sitting between people so close to us. We do not go out to hear everyone else's conversations. Hearing chit chat in general is one thing but details of everyone's day is another."

"Open Table led us to believe that the only open times were 5:30 and 8:30. In reality we were there from 6 to 7:30 on a Friday night and it was only half full.
Dislike the stone floor and hard walls....cold looking and noisy.
Food unusual and good."

"We had an amazing meal in a warm, friendly restaurant served by an enthusiastic, knowledgeable staff. Our choices were all delicious; especially outstanding were the mushroom tart and the dessert lemon tart. The foie gras sashimi is in a class all it's own-a must have!"

"Portions were very generous. as with most fusion food, flavor is somewhat sacrificed in function of mixing ingredients too much (ie, potatos in an asian flavored seafood dish didn't seem to blend in too well. but all in all a very nice dinner and will want to go back."

"I am always vaguely dissatisfied by AKA Bistro. The food is fine, but not outstanding, and I find it quite expensive. Worse, the noise level is so high that it is difficult to hear the person on the other side of a table for two. The first two wine selections that I made at lunch (by the glass) were not available, and that has happened before. The pea soup was bland, and the mussels were fine (but a huge lunch portion). The lemon bavarois was an exquisite dessert (bright lemon that was not astringent), sitting on a thin bed of raspberry sauce and with a miniature tuile. The service was slow at the beginning but a bit better toward the end of the meal."

"Mixed review this time. My eggs were cold. I sent them back. Waiter was great about it, but actually too apologetic. They made me an entirely new omelette which was very generous, but it wasn't that warm either : ( Plates were cold too so that may have been why.
Recipe included wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, and gorgonzola cheese, sounded amazing. It just wasn't.
On a more positive note, I was there for dinner another time, it was great."
