Communal
Nestled in Historic Downtown Provo we have built the perfect home for Communal. Design by Benfell & Furr yielded a space that is both comfortable and modern. Clean lines and smart design set the stage for what could be the best meal you have ever had. Our private dining room is equipped with A/V equipment and is the perfect place for meetings or larger gatherings (up to 12). Communal easily handles large reservations of up to 20 and is ideal for special events seating as many as 40. The bar looks into the open kitchen and the seats there get you as close to the action as possible. Reservations are accepted and recommended. The menu, a la carte, gives you the opportunity to feel all the love that our local farmers & producers have for their products.

"Not often you find a restaurant like Communal and it is even less often....rare, to find it in Provo. Simple, organic, fresh and unique food choices served in a bright warm setting. Love the big communal tables, rustic feel and all the natural light from the full walls of windows. Great for a business lunch, romantic dinner or a fun group. I haven't had this quality of food in such a nice setting for such reasonable prices. I must go to if you are within an hours drive of Provo."

"We ate at Communal for our anniversary and were so pleased with how delicious the meal was! The meals are served family style and are to be shared between two or more, however I think the portions are barely enough for two and I would not plan on sharing between more than two adults. The main protein and accompanying sides really complimented each other well and we were really glad we dined here."

"We enjoyed our meal as a family. The flavors are something to remember and based on that, I would go again. The service was very good. Our beverages were filled constantly. The food came out quickly and was the perfect temperature. My only gripe is the portions tend to be small. We were told the portions were larger and perfect for family style dining. Once we received our food I was surprised to see how small the portions were for the price we were paying. This really reminded me of a small plates restaurant. We have eaten at small plates before in D.C. and Chicago and find their flavors rival with the big city, but not the prices. Even in the big cities we paid less for our small plate portions. Great for couples, not families."

"I love Communal because I feel like I've suddenly left Provo behind and stepped into another city, or even another country. The staff is friendly, and very responsive and professional. I also love that I'm able to support the local community in such an enjoyable way. I can't afford to go often, but when I can it's definitely a treat. I feel comfortable lingering and talking instead of being rushed on my way. The atmosphere is conducive to conversations more interesting than discussing the hottest celebrities. We need more places like this in the area."

"We've been here many times for breakfast and brunch, but really found their dinner a bit over-rated. We ordered the fish and several appetizers and sides as well including macaroni & cheese, mushroom tart and sweet potato gratin.
The fish was pretty good, but the mushroom tart was extremely greasy and left me feeling a bit gross. It was also drizzled with balsamic which is annoying, because my wife doesn't like to eat food with alcohol-based products and it wasn't mentioned on the menu.
The price was surprisingly reasonable for one of utah county's fanciest dining spots, but overral we weren't too impressed with the food. Maybe I'll try the steak next time....or just stick with brunch."
