In 2000, Gastronomy opened it"s first location outside of downtown Salt Lake City. Located in the southern part of the city, the Market Street Grill and Oyster Bar Cottonwood were Gastronomy's first restaurants built from the ground up. Serving the same delicious fresh seafood and tender steaks that you have come to enjoy at our other Market Street locations, but with stunning views of the Wasatch mountains, our Cottonwood location also features a Fresh Fish Market and spectacular patio dining. Private dining facilities include our Creekside Private Rooms, the Garden Court adjacent to Big Cottonwood Creek,and extraordinary Roof Top Dining.

"I will admit, it's been a few months since we last visited, and it was partly due to an unfortunate situation, encountered at our last visit. That situation aside, we returned, and as always, the jumbo lump Maryland Crab Cakes...YUM! The Halibut Oscar was phenomenal and the medium cooked broiled filet, melted in my mouth! If there was anything we would have done differently, it would have been to share ONE creme brulee, not each have our own. Oh well. We really enjoyed the table, with a great view of the running creek. Well done, Market Street!"

"If you're a fan of seafood and dining in a quaint locale with a great view you must dine here. I have always loved the Market Street grill, and I think this is their best location (I prefer places that have a touch of nature nearby, not dense city scenes). There's a lovely creek that flows right past the restaurant. They have an awesome year-round menu with seasonal specials. Everything is prepared wonderfully. The clam chowder is to die for! (though I must note that I've never had New England Clam Chowder in the New England area, so I have no right to compare it to the real deal) One thing that you must know, they lightly season their food, so you need to season to your own taste. If you don't, you might be disappointed with the flavor."

"Enjoy Market Street for their great fish and seafood selections. Overall able to find something on the menu that satified everyone at our table even though few non-fish favorites have been taken off the dinner menu since our last visit. Prices have increased and special beer is more expensive here than most restaurants for the same item. ($13.50 for a bottle of Epic vs. $8.00 elsewhere - seems a bit unreasonable to me). Expected it to be loud as it always is. Waited 30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated."

"Had the crab artichoke dip w/tortilla chips - dissappointing - not enough dip to use up all the chips. Dip was dry and chips tasteless. Fresh made chips with a little more dip a little less dry in a deeper bowl would be superb:) Soup and main course was very good.

They have a large area where tables can easily be combined to accommodate large parties--there was a party of 10-12 on the day we ate there. "I used to love this place. in fact this is probably my fifth or sixth time here so I clearly liked it in the past. We ordered fried calamari. I love fried calamari and am kind of a snob when it comes to them. With that said though, this was some of the worst I have ever had. I figured being a seafood place it should at least be okay. Some pieces were cooked correctly, but others were rubbery. the breading was also very thick and not very crispy. The sauce they had with it was just cocktail sauce. Way too strong for delicate calimari! also kinda seemed lazy to me. I got a halibut special with a crab cake on top. Overcooked fish! the one thing that a seafood place should do well is cook fish!"

"The food was very good and fresh. The service was very average. We've eaten at Market Street several times recently and find it takes forever to get wine served and the pace of dinner is erratic. On one occasion it took what seemed like a long time for the starters to be served and then the main dishes were served almost before the starters were finished. The staff are friendly and professional but there seems to be something about the organization or division of responsibilities that keeps the ovefrall experience from being as good as the food."

"I have a gluten intollerance and the waiter was helpful in making my selections. Unfortunately, that excluded immediately just about every option on the crabfest menu, and much of the regular menu as well. The shrimp cocktail was good. I selected the halibut grilled. It was a rather thin fillet and was cooked well done...meaning a bit dry.. but the flavor was okay. There were some good selections for wine by the glass. There was one dessert made with almond flour that I could eat and was delighted to have it.
Overall the service was fine, and the food was fine. I think the prices are at a level where the food should be better than "fine"."

"This was my first visit to any Market Street Grill, and my wife’s first visit to this location. The atmosphere stood out the most. The sounds of life and an operation in full swing, all packaged into an open space with nice seating and a notable trout lighting. The clam chowder was great. The crème brûlée was amazing. My wife’s shrimp plate was good. My mahi mahi was only passable. I will probably be back, ordering a new dish, absorbing the atmosphere and tempering my expectations for my entrée (though my expectations for the chowder and dessert will be astronomical)."

"I love Market street Grill and always have had great service. Unfortunately this time they took to long to bring the food. We order eggs bennedict and the server said side order of potatoes was extra. Maybe the server was new."

"Wonderful service. Everyone was very friendly and fast. WONDERFUL food!!!! I have never ever had bad service or bad food at Market Street Grill. This is my favorite resturant! I would recommend it to anyone."

"Market Street Grill never disappoints. We went during their crab fest and enjoyed the crab ravioli as part of the special. I'm glad the waiter highly recommended the creme brulee that was a choice to go with the crab special dinners. The bread and clam chowder are always fantastic, and I love the crab cake appetizer and salmon dinner. All fantastic!"

"Fine for raw oysters, clam chowder and fresh fish. Also, liked the bread loaf!
Ordered the sea scallops.....got the outter bank scallops.....waiter said they were the same???
Waiter said halibut would be two dollars more for Oscar addition.....it was five dollars more; waiter
Was asked about the difference when the bill came and he passed it off as incidental...did not change

Also, sent back the vodka martini as it had too much water in it...was ordered "up"!
We will try other places unless we just want raw oysters and clam chowder!!"

"This was a very bad experience. The food has gone way down hill and gotten even more expensive. The service was horrible too. It took over an hour to even have the opportunity to place our entre order. The drinks took over 30 minutes and all we ordered were sodas. It wasn't crowded either. We complained to the manager and she said she would expedite our order. Still took another 45 minutes and they deep fried the halibut when it was supposed to be grilled. Just too expensive to have a special birthday dinner ruined like this. I won't be back to Market Street. Quality, service and experience have gone way down and prices have gone up!"

"Very nice experience overall though the restaurant was a little chilly for some of the folks in our group. The server was excellent though the wait for the meal was longer than we expected but the restaurant was busy. The food was good but some of the meals not as hot as we would have liked. However, we had a good experience and will return again."
