"Other than it was close to our apt. and easy to get a last minute reservation, there were no other redeeming features. We arrived at 7:30 on a Sat. night the restaurant was barely half full. While the staff was friendly, our waiter was slow and it took over 10 minutes for him to take our order. I asked for a drink on the rocks, it came straight up, we asked for bread it came later, the food was fair at best. Chicken parm was ok, the broc. rabe was tasteless, the roasted asparagus were over salted and my parpadelle with wild mushrooms tasted like the sauce was a can of Cambell's mushroom soup.
We did not stay for dessert b/c I could not bare to waste anymore money. This is prob my 6 or 7th time there in the past 15 years,"

"We have been a couple of times now - is definitely better than average. I suspect one might be better with the pastas which we think deserve a "very good" rating than the meat/fish entrees which are a little less distinctive"

"they had a B rating wine was good food was fare although my wife liked her Bronzini. My daughter returned her salmon to the kitchen. My soup with clams, muscles and shrimp was bland."

"Bad! The entree had no coordination between the ingredents. It was hastily prepared and bland. Nice location, warm atmosphere but food was poor. They served stale bread too.
I will not return."

"Pappardella never disappoints and always satisfies. The service and food are excellent. It is festive, but it is never noisy. What we like best is that there is no attempt at Pappardella to be anything other than what it is-- a neighborhood place that consistently serves delicious food. This is a wonderful spot for dinner with friends or a romantic dinner,"

"We went to Pappardella for the gluten free menu. The restaurant deserves kudos for having the ability to accommodate GF needs with grace and without missing a beat. Good garlic bread and pasta. Only minor comment - no need to add tomato sauce to fresh tomatoes, in my opinion! Otherwise, thanks to the servers and chefs."

"The food was outstanding, there were four of us and we tried a variety of different things. We were with friends who are very Italian, and very critical of "other people's" Italian food...they were impressed and said so several times. A misunderstanding by the waiter about what my wife had ordered was corrected quickly and satisfactorily. When we ordered desert (also excellent) and coffee, we told the wait staff that we needed to be out of there in 15 minutes to make a show, and we were. Can't wait to go back!"

"I think this is a very basic Italian restaurant with an attentive staff. We did not try the specials. The regular menu is fine but not quite worth the prices. Also side dishes were disappointingly small."

"This is a great, little restaurant in the heart of the UWS. Has nice ambiance with exposed brick wall and very attentive service. Menu has something for everyone but leans toward pasta and classic Italian dishes. I had a leg of lamb which was perfectly prepared with a terrific mint jelly while my husband had a pasta dish which he thought was delicious. There was a family with 5 children next to our table and the waitstaff was very accommodating to this family who did not bother us one bit. We will definitely return to this neighborhood gem."

"We went there because of the gluten free menu. The pasta baresi dish I had was very good in terms of taste, however, the sausages were "skimpy" - thin slices instead of more substantial pieces/amount I expected in a main course dish. The salad was very good - tricolore. The service could have been better -- the waitress was good but not as attentive as should be."

"Pappardelle is an easy, comfortable neighborhood joint that will neither surprise nor disappoint. my sole disappointment was with the Spaghetti with seafood sauce, where they started the description as including lobster, which is on the verge of misleading - one tiny piece of overcooked lobster. otherwise the meal was pretty good."

"Such an adorable place with the exposed brick and the welcoming atmosphere. The staff are attentive, and what I've had was good, but I'd like to try other dishes since I wasn't overwhelmed. Two of us shared the kale salad, which was the best dish of the night and really something different but great. Then we waited an awfully long time after the salad for our two main entrees, especially for a Monday night, when it was busy, but not packed. The papardelle with wild mushrooms was flavorful, though by the end of the dish, the mushrooms were too mushy. The pizza was thin crust and flavorful, but too heavy on the cheese for such a thin crust. All over very cute cozy place with great atmosphere and service. Plan to come back and try more."

"My wife and I have been fans of Pappardella for many years. This neighborhood italian eatery is a gem. The food is consistently excellent, as is the service. The ambiance is wonderful, too. The decor is contemporary, with just a touch of Tuscany. To me, Pappardella is NYC's closest thing to a cafe at St Mark's square. Try it just once, and you are bound to fall in love with Pappardella. My favorite? Fresh whole Branzino, with a nice crisp Italian white. Salute!"

"One of my favorite restaurants in the UWS. Food is very good - any of the pastas is a hit, my favorite being the Pappardella Buttera. The pizzas I tried for the first time this weekend, and they were amazing. The sausage, goat cheese, spinach was fantastic. Service is warm and attentive. Highly recommend."

"Had a coupon through GILT so the menu was pretty limited. Regretting not getting the Sausage Pizza because it smelled and looked delicious from what I saw spying on the table next to me. Omelette was good though. As were the Bellinis."

"food, service and buzz always v good. chicken parm w/ pasta very tasty and large. app of asparagus w/ pesto & garlic (fyi, LOTS of pesto) is unique and very tasty. extra kudos for our last visit (23Feb) where a busboy noticed our table wasn't stable. we didn't motion or say anything, and he swiftly inserted a wedge that stabilized our table. wish we had asked his name. this level of quiet, un-requested attention is too rare and is rare even in the super high-end restaurants."

"Attentive service, well time delivery of dishes. Enjoyed the cured meats and cheeses appetizer and main portions were properly sized. Noise level was a bit high, but this was due more to the fact that the place was full also a bit dark, so plenty of flashlights to read the menu."

"The food and experience here are top notch! I go for the full gluten free menu. In other words, it's not one with the three things from the main menu that are "safe" but rather a complete menu of so many wonderful Italian dishes made specifically gluten free. They use the Schar brand of pasta and bread. The GF menu is extensive: appetizers, salads, pizza, pasta, meat & fish entrees and even desserts. My friends & family eat from the main menu and rave about their entrees as well. Highly recommended!"

"Our waiter was very pleasant but not so on the ball. He forgot our water until our salads came, then forgot to get my pasta dish order with the rest of it and it was a long wait for me to eat more than shared sides. The food, though, as always, was great. The dining room consistently has a good low-moderate buzz that is perfect for good conversation. We were seated by the window - me right against it, and despite being a very cold night, it was not cold and that was a real surprise."

"My boyfried and I truly enjoyed this restaurant. Service and food were excellent. We didn't wait long from our drinks or appetizers and when our main entrees came out they were nice and hot. Entree portions were more than generous. I ordered their Pasta Pappardella special with lamb and it wass delicious...best I've had. My boyfriend loves lamb and had the rack of lamb which was was cooked perfectly. We will definitely be coming back to this restaurant."

"This was a great restaurant on the Upper West Side. We originally went here due to the extensive Gluten-Free menu. The dishes were very large and priced fairly for the size. The GF margarita pizza was very tasty and the chicken parmigiana with a corn-based breading was great. The GF pasta and homemade sauce were very tasty. We had the flourless chocolate cake and it was amazing!!! I can't wait to come back."

"The food and service was very good, but the place can get noisy especially if you have a singer with a strong voice seated next to you who doesn't realize how much his voice projects, which was the case, unfortunately the night I ate there. Otherwise the margherita pizza, arugula salad with avocado, and spaghetti were great."
