"It's great that the restaurant is kid friendly, but some parents need to understand that kids should not be allowed to scream and jump around. This has nothing to do with the restaurant, just the parents who clearly didn't care if you were able to talk and enjoy your meal or not. I have four kids so I'm an expert at this and I would not take my children, or would take them outside for a time out, if they misbehaved.
The food was great, the service was excellent so apart from the screamers we really enjoyed our dinner!"

"The meal was great - what we both wanted. We were hoping for a table by the window but I hadn't reserved far enough in advance. No big deal. We were mostly there for the great meal and we weren't disappointed. I had the Steelhead (always my favourite) and hubby had the Maple Glazed Salmon. The rice was weird - too perfumy for him and he doesn't like broccolini. But it was great and we'll definitely be back."

"My husband and I were impressed with the level of service that was provided from the time we entered the restaurant to the time we paid the bill and left. We often expect a high level of service from a restaurant of this calibre, however, are often surprised that we do NOT receive it...The Boathouse New West did not disappoint! We really appreciated that we were seated in the main area of the restaurant and after about 5 minutes we were approached to move as a more scenic table just opened up. Our server was polite, knowledgeable and attentive. The food was delicious - the bread was warm, our appetizers were served in a timely manner and our main course was cooked to perfection. Thank you for creating a great experience for us!"

"One of our friends brought her son and she ordered milk for him and it was sour. When you saw it it was bad and had awful smell waitress still delivered. Manager came out to say sorry and would get new one never came back to check on us. Waitress was awful kept rushing to order and leave. This is a regular place we visit monthly but not no more."

"Although the price was reasonable and the food was good the service was unacceptably slow and the restaurant was privacy was poor. It took almost one hour for our appetizers to arrive and the dinner was over two-and-a-half hours in duration before desert was served. This is unreasonable and I will not be returning to the restaurant and will never recommend it to others. As I watched those around me I noticed that many other tables received the same slow service. The tables are positioned too close together and I felt like I was having dinner with those at the adjacent table. I can't imagine what the atmosphere and service would be like when the restaurant is actually busy."

"Food was quite good (as in above average), staff generally friendly. Hostess area seemed a bit disorganized, not a smooth entrance. Waitress well acquainted with the menu, and able to combine different specials to achieve the best value. Helpful comments on menu selections. Had hoped for a table with a direct view of the Quay, but reservations made too late for the limited tables available along the boardwalk. Booths also available, and several groups were in attendance between the two other areas. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the evening."

"The food was good, however, It took three tries to get a drink right. Not just waitress problem but one drink you didn't have any strawberry stuff for the drink I ordered, the next I had to send back...It was horid...the next wasn't what I ordered....then I finally got the drink.....after everyone at the table was finished their's. So I guess that was 4 tries. However, we will be back...we enjoy your restaurant anyway."

"We went for the Sunday lobster specials, 1 lb or 1.5 lb whole lobster dinner. We have always liked the restaurant for its view of the Fraser River, casual atmosphere and consistently good seafood. We started out with Polar Bears, Grand Marnier and hot chocolate, to warm up. We were a little disappointed with the smallish size of the 1lb lobster, which must have been weighed when the scale was broken. Nevertheless, it was good and went well with the Chardonnay that was recommended. Desert was sourdough bread pudding with Baileys creme anglais and vanilla gelato, which was delicious and filling."

"We had reservations for Feb 14th @ 7pm. The hostess seated us in one of the last available seats (and after many walk in people with NO reservations had seated). The seats given to us were in a busy walkway area. We ordered a bottle of white wine Oyster bay Savignon Blanc...the waitress brought us Oyster bay Chardonnay...not a huge concern for us. We asked her for a ice bucket for the wine...she said "oh there isnt any available...they are all being used"....a $48 bottle of white wine needs to be on ice...and that night there was ice everywhere with products on display. I went to the bar to inquire about a ice bucket and our waitress interjected me when i was asking the bar tender for a bucket (or sometthing equivilant) to put the wine in.."

"Dined here during Dine Out Vancouver 2013. It was a Friday night and very busy. Service was slow, it took an hour to get our entrees and when it arrived at the table, it wasn't hot. For a dineout event, one one think that they could be more efficient in anticipation of the dinner rush."

"We have been going to the Boathouse for over 4 years now.
The service was great BUT with the new owners and menue items,
we will NOT be comming back!!

We were there for lunch and the there was only a few tables being used.
NO NEED TO MAKE RESERVATIONS.
The waitress did tell us that the amount of customers has dropped since
the new menue and owners took over.

"We all agreed that we had a great meal and the service was excellent. If we have one complaint it is the time it always seems to take to get in the first drink order. After that everything moved along great (although it was not busy). We have been to the Boathouse quite a number of times over the years and timeliness of service has ALWAYS been an issue. It is not the servers but how long it takes the bar and kitchen to respond. This is not something that we alone have noticed but pretty well everyone in the Quayside neighbourhood that we have spoken to. We do wish to emphasize that our server Roxie was fantastic!"

"The hostess when we walked it was so unprofessional. we told her we had reservations and she said ok. never took our name. my boyfriend when back to ask her how long she say had us down and said 2 different names then his.
The lounge where we were first seated was so loud we could hardly talk. the table next to us was appeared to be drinking, were talking so loud and every second work was a swear it was unpleasant. I wished that the waitress would have asked them to tone it down I bit.
After 25 min of sitting there the waitress finally came to take our order. we got our drinks and after another 45 min are table was ready in the dining room and our appraiser was finally served.
The waiter made the experience all better."

"I am a regular diner at Boathouse so I usually know what I get when I go there. Food was good and we were glad to see the garlic smashed potatoes where fixed as our last 2 visits they were watery and no flavor. Service was friendly but not overly attentive during the meal, only at the start and end. It was a busy evening and maybe they were short handed."

"We enjoyed our dinner. Waiter was friendly and attentive. Food, especially the melt in your mouth Halibut, was great. We asked for a quiet corner which we did get, although next to a large group table. We would definitely go back another time and are looking forward to trying out the Brunch one weekend which we've heard is well worth the $$ It is also next to the riverfront boardwalk (for after dinner walks in summer months) and the River Market (for shops,wine store, etc.)"

"The service was awful. We had to wait more than 15 minutes for our drinks, and we only ordered coke and iced tea. It took forever for our orders to arrive and they messed up our bills as well. When we brought their attention to the mistakes they made on our bills, they took the bills to fix the problem. When they came back, they had only fixed one of the problems, but not the other two!!!"

"I felt that our waiter tried very hard and at the beginning of our meal the service was exceptional but about dessert time we hardly saw the wait staff and waited about 15 min to pay our bill despite the fact that I had my card out. Another staff about the machine so that may have been the problem. Next time I will make sure I have cash. Also there were two children running around and sitting at unoccupied tables.The mother had no control and I think the person in charge should have talked to her or the children. Otherwise it was a very pleasant experience, the food was great and the waiter at the beginning was attentive without being pushy or in your face. I think he may have had too much to do at the end. He also took time to thank us."

"Very disappointed. The lobster was not the best. The salmon was good the rice was bland.
Also we mentioned we were celebrating a birthday but they made no special effort to recognize the birthday person. The person at the next table got a sparkler on their desert though, and and they did provide the birthday person with free desert.

"The service was not very good, the food was not nearly at the level I would expect from the boat house.
Exsessive wait times for service, some items were cold, desert was half melted by the time the server got it to the table.
I found the server avoiding the table when things were taking to long.

"Dinner was very good as was the table service. The menu had a nice variety of choices but, as I am a vegetarian, I would have been pleased to see a couple of options for non-carnivores!
We arrived for dinner at 6:30 and found that it was very noisy. We were thankful to be seated in the lower area by the window (somewhat quieter so that we could engage in conversation in a normal tone).
Overall, a good experience but would choose a later dinner hour next time in order to avoid noisy family groups which include cranky kiddies (not the kiddies' fault!)."
