Oenotri
Oenotri is a southern Italian restaurant that is committed to authenticity, quality and value of product, and local sustainability and seasonality. Our name literally translates to "vine-cultivators" in ancient Oscan, a tribe that settled southern Italy before the Romans. We consider this a philosophy as well as a name when it comes to food and wine.
Oenotri serves lunch Monday through Friday and dinner nightly. We also offer late night dining Friday and Saturday nights from 10PM to midnight.

"Had an amazing dinner at Oenotri. Began dinner with a cured meats board which we could not decide which was salumi was better. My partner was looking forward to the Spaghetti al' arrabiata but our server mentioned it was quite hot so she opted for the Trompetti pasta with lamb heart ragu. I know it is a bit odd but it was absolutely amazing. I definitely had food envy even though my pasta with squid was very good. Very reasonably priced and they do have an extensive wine list but a bit pricey. I did see folks bringing in their own bottles of wine (I assume that there is a corkage fee). Overall it was a wonderful dinner and we will definitely go back."

"Half of the table opted for pasta dishes that were underwhelming (especially the LINGUINE WITH MANILA CLAMS). My husband and I received dishes that were over-seasoned (FRIED CAVALO NERO WITH HOT PEPPER AND PECORINO) and burnt (CROSTONE WITH BELLWETHER FARMS RICOTTA, CITRUS AND WILD ARUGULA).
Despite this, we were most disappointed by being forced to pay for the poor service as gratuity is added for parties of 6 or more. Attitude, empty wine glasses (where did our decanted wine go?), and forgotten polenta is not a good combination. I especially did not appreciate the "here is your lightly toasted crostone" comment for requesting something other than mouthfuls of charred toast."

"This is a very good restaurant. The only negative is there are only three entrees every night. We had the halibut & braised pork shoulder. The halibut was good but the pork left a lot to be desired. Small portion & the pork itself was marble size. We shared an asparagus, snap pea salad which was delicious. We also shared a pasta dish with guinea hen ragu. If we go back we will share some appetizers and get a pizza which looked delicious."

"Great dining experience overall. I strongly recommend the chef selection of salum. They make all of their salami in house and it is fabulous. Service was terrific and all other items we ordered was great. No beers on tap, but I guess it is Napa and we should all be drinking wine!"

"Choices on the menu very limited. Only 3 main courses and if you don't like how they prepare them you are out of luck. I asked the swordfish to be put on top of a bed a lettuces and got arugula that was very over salted. Then they had the nerve to charge an extra $9 for more arugula on top. Very poorly done. If you have to go to a new place in town that doesn't have much variety this is it! Our waitress was very accommodating and let us know she had relayed our requests to the kitchen and made us feel very welcome."

"We live in Napa and had been here once before about when it first opened. I remember that the noise was a factor for not going back. But, after all the great write ups I decided to try it again with our out of town guest. This time we shared Asparagus Pizza which was this and tasted great. But, it got a bit soggy from all the liquid. We then had the Linguine pasta which was perfect. And again we were fighting the noise. As older people this is a problem since we had to basically shout at each other most of the night. Unless something can be done about the noise, we will not be going back."

"Charcuterie plate was excellent. Very good mix of interesting meats. Can't believe they make it on site. Had the home made noodles which were as good or better than we had in Italy. Our waiter was very helpful explaining the menu and telling us what was special. Definitely one of my favorite Italian restaurants. Only negative was that they had lots of Italian wines which I understand since it is an Italian restaurant, but we were visiting Napa and would have lived to taste more Napa/Sonoma wines."

"Oenotri stands out as an exceptional restaurant. They change their menu almost daily and use the best ingredients and the best techniques. For instance, I tried their octopus on Sunday and it was massaged for who knows how long to make it the most tender I have ever had. They prepare all of their own cured meats and salumis in-house! Whenever I travel to Napa (i'm from the east coast) I always make a point to have at least one meal at Oenotri."

"First time guest. Server was knowledgable about the menu, and was able to make good recommendations . Wines by the glass were just ok. Never like to order a bottle since we rarely drink more than one glass, and never eat the same thing. The noise level makes any private conversation a little difficult but over all I recommend. I loved that our dinner was light., even the pasta. You can't go to an Italian restaurant without trying their housemade pasta. Order it and share as an appetizer ! Delicious! Charcuterie is worth trying as well. Nice job chef!"

"This is my favorite Napa restaurant and I think one of the best in the area (definitely beats Bouchon and Angele, IMHO). It's a great space with a fantastic view of the kitchen from almost every table, the service is excellent (friendly/casual but very attentive), and the food never disappoints. That salumi selection is pretty unparalleled (don't miss the Sardinian sausage with saffron!!), the pizzas are delicious, as are the pasta dishes. Good wine list as well with a lot of local selections. If you're a foodie, definitely ask for the two seats at the bar by the kitchen. Haven't yet sat there but always want to."

"The hostess was attentive and seated us promptly with our reservation despite a long waiting list for drop-ins. Service was erratic. We had cocktails and received our wine order from the floor somm before the waiter even described the menu. Enjoyed the house made salumi and the yellow fin tuna salad, which we shared. The pizza was well made, but the toppings were excessively salty and included several items not mentioned by the waiter or the menu. Overall. we thought the portion sizes were small. Courses were delivered promptly, but the table was cleared after a long wait and my expresso was served very slowly. Not sure what the service model is. . . The room was extremely noisy - even for a hot, hip place.my"

"The food was exceptional. The service was average mostly because it was too loud to hear us and the fact that they were understaffed for a Saturday night. I had to yell at my friend across the table it was so noisy. Will not return, perhaps they expect the tourist business to keep them busy?"

"Being a resident I was interested to see what moved in after Marie Calendar's went under. I didn't have high expectations going into the meal what was presented to us was well below. For the amount of time the building was vacant, no upgrades or remodeling was done and looked the exact same with an addition of a bar I believe. We were seated at a booth overlooking the freeway which wasn't bad, but the paint on the windows was chipped and you could see past paint jobs, and there was also wood damage to the window frame. Instead of taking the time to fix it they placed white duct tape over it to try and hide it. The server was very slow, didn't inform of specials and the food was average at best. Had to ask then waited 45min for our check."

"In contrast to many recent reviews questioning the quality of the food and service: I found them both the be excellent. Wonderful food, exceptional service. Loud, but that's an observation, not necessarily a complaint--i could talk to my wife without whispering and know our conversation was private. Additionally, its developing an excellent Italian wine list."

"The "Crudo of Scallops and Razor Clams" and Pizza were very good. Unfortunately, the other two dishes we had were simply not good. The Tagliatelle with "Crab" and roe were simply not good to us and the recommended side of Cavolo Nero needs work. While the strong "fish" flavor of the tagliatelle pasta could be a personal taste issue, we found the flavor overwhelming and my wife could not eat it. The Cavolo Nero was, unfortunately, over cooked and the seasoning very uneven. The spicy chili flakes on the dish were present very unevenly and you would get one of the fried kale leaves that was very spicy and others with literally no spice or cheese."

"We came here because Thomas Keller noted it was his favorite Italian restaurant in Napa. If this is the top Italian that Napa has to offer (w/o price consideration), then it is no better than most mid to mid/top range Italian restaurants in NYC.
Also made life difficult for itself by having an extensive Italian wine list in the Napa region instead of focusing on Sangiovese-minded producers in Napa and surrounding areas.
The food was good, but not great. Nothing super creative. Definitely try pizza, but just not 4 star relevant."

"We had a 9PM reservation on a Sat night. Oenotri was buzzing with customers at every table as well as at the bar. The noise level was off the charts, necessitating that my husband and I shout at each other across the table. Happily our delicious specialty cocktails put us in a mood to enjoy the energy and have a great time. Had we been in the mood for a quiet/romantic dinner we'd have needed a different restaurant or perhaps a different night. My personal favorites were the bread, the beet salad, the cocktails, the Barbera wine, and our Meyer lemon granita dessert. I'm leaving my pasta dish off the list as I found it too spicy and wished I'd gotten a pizza as I've heard they are delicious. Our waitress was rushed but she did not rush us."

"We have been here 8-10 times and have sent many of our friends. One of our favorite spots. Well, this time it was mediocre at best...
The restaurant itself, atmosphere, vibe, etc. remain great. But the service and some elements of the food were disappointing. Service was rushed, cold, unattentive. Hope it's not becoming a tourist spot
The apps we had were very good, but the main courses arrived cold. When we mentioned to the waitress all she said was "sorry, I will let the kitchen know" and walked away. We were not sure if she meant she'd bring a replacement set, but after a while we realized all she was going to do is "let the kitchen know". Here we were with tasteless, cold dishes, by now already not enjoying the evening."

"This is my second time at this restaurant! Amazing food. We had the ravioli and one of the pizzas. We also started with a salami plate. Outstanding service. It is one of those menus that needed some explaining (I did not know what some of the items were) but amazing food!! I can't imagine anyone having a bad time. Also, we took our 20 month old with us. They were very accommodating to us!!"

"With a short Italian menu that changes daily - often featuring home grown veggies, fresh pastas and house cured meats - featuring an extensive, albeit expensive list of Italian wines - I should like it a lot. I didn't. Dinner was mostly well prepared, but nothing cried out, "You have to come back." The fried cavalo nero sounded better than it was - the leaves splintered at a touch - it was like eating seasoned dust. The polenta with gorgonzola dolcelatte was OK, but not great. The quail was nicely done, but under seasoned. As for ambiance, I never thought that I'd complain about tables being too big, but they are. The room was only half full, but because your dinner compainion is so far away, you have to shout - the noise is deafening."

"We have dined here pretty often, and think that the service and food are on a noticable decline. The pizzas remain high quality, but salads and pastas are becoming way too salt laden. On our last visit it was almost impossible to enjoy our dishes as the sodium level on the food was way over the top. Also, we had to wait exceedingly long times for our food to arrive. Maybe their early success has caused them to become too complacent?"

"We have gone to Onoetri every Valentine's Day since it opened as well as other non-special times. It is a wonderful place to dine. The menu is always fresh, the food deliciously prepared. The service is outstanding even on the busiest evenings. Everything has a special flavor to it, it is amazing.
Lunch is a delight also and in good weather the patio area is a lovely place to dine. It is tucked in back of the restaurant so very little traffic noise.
We can't wait to go back."

"Oenotri’s from start to finish is phenomenal. This warm and cozy restaurant serves the best southern Italian cuisine in the valley. Oenotri also has a great selection of wood fire oven pizzas, charcuterie plates and pastas. I mostly enjoy this restaurant because of their attentive service and the fact that they use locally sourced vegetables and fruits. I have dined at this restaurant multiple times and have never been disappointed. Even though the menu can seem limited and extremely sophisticated still give the restaurant a shot and I promise you will be leaving wanting more."
