"The purpose of this visit was a birthday treat for a friend. It needed to be something new and interesting and Bixbys totally filled the bill--my friend was totally delighted.
Hot foods are prepared to order in the kitchen. This kept the self-serve foods on three central easily accessible stations. All were on open trays without those heavy lids to open and close. It was a very comfortable and relaxing experience. The manager came by to check on how we were enjoying the brunch and answered questions about history of the building, restaurant and the flower on the table. The waiter was equally attentive and pleasant.
All the food that I took was delicious. Roast beef, waffle and omelette were my favorites."

"Outstanding in every way!!!! Fresh, seasonal food, cheerful service, wonderful park views, lovely dining room and best of all you are in the history museum. A delightful place for a long lunch with wine and dessert. The Missouri trout was delicious and the coconut ice cream is hard to share. A real gem in the park."

"Bixby's is an attractive and pleasant room with an outstanding view of Forest Park.
It's a great place to have a conversation with your companions, since the noise-level is quite low.
The servers are unfailingly pleasant and efficient.
The food is very good (especially the chocolate crème brulée!!).
And the History Museum itself is a gem!
It is unfortunate that the Museum's parking lots are fair game for joggers, making it difficult for Museum and restaurant patrons - but if you're patient, you will be rewarded with a space eventually.
And if you're up for an appetite-encouraging walk, the MUNY/Tennis Center lots are not far away."

"Bixby's view of the park only enhances the food experience it offers. "Wonderful place for brunch. Very upscale with great ambiance. We stayed for almost 2 hours visiting and were never rushed. Highly recommend! We had a 3 and 5 with us, who luckily were on their beat behavior, it is a pretty quiet place, but do welcome children."

"Unfortunately as we were leaving to drive to Bixby's I received a voicemail from the restaurant manager saying that the restaurant had to close. It was due to some kind of maintenance problem. So I am unable to provide you with a review. However, I definitely appreciated the call which saved us a trip. I really like Bixby's so I will be back another time. I had to select ratings under question number one, even though we did not dine there."

"After a few questionable experiences a few years ago at Bixby's, I stopped going there.
I love going there when the daffodils are in bloom and needing a special place for my 90 year old friend about to undergo a rigorous regime at Barnes I thought this would be a good venue. I talked to the manager about my needs and he was very helpful and accommodating. Obviously, Bixby's has a new manager from a few years ago and it was reflected in the wonderful quality of my experience. I'll go there again and often. It was DELIGTFUL."

"Our server was very nice but not that great. He did not get my order right and it took him a very long time to bring our food and drinks. He did not ask us if we would prefer the smoky bloody mary or the traditional; if we wanted salt or not, etc. He gave us the smoky one and none of us liked it. We had to make a special request for Charles to make our bloody mary!! We should have requested Charles' table! He's the best."

"Bixby's is truly a treasure in our neighborhood. The quality of the food,the and the view of Forest Park set it apart from other museum restaurants I have visited. It is the ideal place to meet a friend for a relaxed gourmet lunch, especially on days too cold or too hot for a sidewalk cafe. Forest Park covered in snow provided a stunning mural as viewed from the second floor location. Portions are sized for lunch and the prices are reasonable. The menu changes with the seasons and the presentation is exquisite. Try the crab cakes!"

I brought a guest who was French, and the quality of the food preparation and presentation could rival a top restaurant in any European city. "They have some really unique main dishes that are absolutely delicious and the quality of the ingredients is excellent, but we didn't care for the side dishes. Highly, highly, highly recommend the chocolate creme brulee. It is unbelievably good. For a restaurant that was almost empty, at the time we were there, the service wasn't nearly as good as I expect for a restaurant like that."

"We have been to Bixby's for Sunday Brunch several times, in groups ranging from 2 to 18 people! Food is consistent and delicious. Small plates from the kitchen are served hot and fresh (although a bit slow sometimes), if you need more than is provided with the buffet. Service is top-notch. You can't beat Bixby's for Sunday Brunch!"

"We enjoyed a Sunday brunch for two, as well as a tour of the exhibits afterward. The overall experience was excellent and the restaurant setting overlooking the park is particularly inviting. The buffet table provides an excellent seasonal choice of items, along with fresh-cooked entrees from an al cart menu, such as: eggs benedict florentine, made-to-order omelets, Belgian waffles, etc., which is included in the $25 price. I'd recommend the brunch for special occasions."

"What a lovely brunch my husband and I enjoyed recently at Bixby's. The items in the elegant buffet were unique with a touch of gourmet, and the food quality and presentation were wonderful. The house-cured smoked salmon was especially delicious. No tacky carving stations here.......the platters were changed out often, and a lovely variety of made-to-order items straight from the kitchen were available as part of the price of the brunch. The country ham Benedict was the best I've ever had....I would go back just for that! The service was excellent, as well. Bixby's was spot on. I can't wait to return!"

*we had to wait quite a bit to be served;
*when we were finally served from the kitchen the food was not very hot, temperature wise. My egg was actually barely warm.

We noticed that while our server poured about 2/3 of a glass of champagne, the server for the next table filled the glasses to about an inch from the top. I personally would have appreciated some other pastry choices on the buffet table, such as some types of danish and assorted breakfast breads. Bagels are not all that exciting! I would definitely come back though."
