Park Kitchen is creative seasonal cuisine with nationally recognized Chef/ Owner Scott Dolich. We rely on local and sustainably grown meats and produce. The service is casual yet friendly and knowledgeable. The extensive spirit and wine selection focuses on the local talents.
"We really, really had an outstanding meal. The service was truly perfect and all of the dishes were timed very well. We shared several small plates. Ken's bread & homemade butter are always solid. The pork & rapini sausage + beets & yogurt + cod fritters were very good. The radishes & snap peas + Virginia ham, rhubarb & peanuts were truly amazing. They way that the radishes & rhubarb are prepared in a variety of ways really impacts flavors and mouth feel very positively. I cannot sing the praises enough. We finished with a double chocolate tart with salted caramel . . . delicious. We also had cocktails, which were prepared very well. Truly outstanding!"

"So many seasonal choices! This was our first visit to Park Kitchen and we had a hard time narrowing down what plates to order, but we did it and were thrilled with the results. Really appreciated having the plates come out as they were ready - food was fresh, delicious and just the right portions for sharing. Service was prompt, friendly and present when needed, but not overbearing. We will return!"

"We sat in the back room at a corner table. The kitchen was visible, but did not dominate the room. The lighting low and the ambience warm and friendly, with wood, copper and dark leatherette upholstered seating. The room felt like it had been there for years but the menu was modern. My wife and I we shared two small and one large which was enough for us along with dessert. We had blood oranges with bacon, a house made sausage with sauerkraut and other things and a large order of lamb served with pickled cardoons and greens of some type. Each dish was a combination of a variety of tastes and textures, all well prepared. Nice place, good service. We'll go back."

"We fell in love with the green apple and cheddar cheese soup with pancetta, and are trying to replicate it. Other small plates that were real treats included the chickpea fries, with the squash ketchup - the ketchup was better than the fries, a masterful condiment, the pork and rapini sausage was spicy and tasty, ans the gin marinated clams whetted our appetites for more. The morel stuffed cabbage leaves were exquisitely flavorful and the spinach fettucini and blackened salmon satisfied everyone. The mixologist whipped up a couple of cava specialties that pleased; but the flight of digistifs disappointed. Trying three different desserts, we left full and satiated."

"This restaurant has a warm, welcoming interior and the friendliest, most helpful wait staff. We wandered in early for our reservation, thinking we'd have a glass of wine at the bar in the front but they were able to seat us right away and gave us lots of time to hem and haw our way through the menu. We had some tough decisions to make--everything looked so good! The salt cod fritters were amazing and the soup was (green apple and cheddar) was also delicious. Our entrees were great also, but if we went back I would definitely just work my way through all the small plates."

"Park Kitchen is a really fun, relaxing experience. It's great for groups or couples because you can get several hot and cold small plates to share. Everything I've had is interesting with suprising combinations that always taste fabulous. Great drinks, great food, great service. What else do you need?"

"The food was excellent, though a little bit larger menu would have been appreciated. We went on a Sunday evening and were just one of 3 tables in the whole place (and the only table in the front near the bar). The service was under par for such a slow night. We had two ladies waiting on us. We had to ask if there were specials. No one checked on us between plates. Several times we found ourselves wanting something (like a coffee warm up or water refill) and actively needed to flag someone down to request service. When our main course was finished and we were ready to order dessert, we sat there for a while with empty plates before anyone came over. I looked around for our waitress and saw her leaning against a wall, texting."

"The food was outstanding! The service was uneven with different servers, and slow to bring food and respond to drink requests. We still would recommend the resturant, it may have been an off night."

"Park Kitchen does it again! I had my most memorable meal in Portland there several years ago. I took two friends last saturday wondering if it could be as great as I remembered --it was. I can't imagine going there and not ordering the Tasting Menu. It is an unbelievable meal and extremely well-priced. The staff was friendly and attentive. They seem happy to work there and that makes a huge difference in the experience. The plates were bursting with flavor and we talked about the meal the next day because it was so memorable. I highly recommend Park Kitchen."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Park Kitchen. With four people, that allowed us to have a broader taste of available cold and hot plates that are very delicious. The green apple soup with cheddar, hops and pancetta was superb, the tart sweetness of the apple offset by the taste of the smoky pancetta; the bacon with blood oranges was similarly superb. The flank steak salad with greens and parsley was wonderful and generous. The large plate pork loin was subtle and delicate in flavor, with a vivid punch from the crispy fried catechione. And a side for the table of the chickpea fries with the wonderful acorn squash ketchup. Last, the double chocolate tart, salted caramel, with hazelnut ice cream. What a finish!"

"I read about this place in the Dining Guide. What a disappointment. I suspect the cooks are more interested in standing out with unexpected contrasts than making food that it good to eat. Juxtaposition might be a sound literary device, but I don't always want my food to "surprise" me. Enough cabbage! I'm not in the gulag. Enough pickled food. I hate brine."

"Read great reviews about the food here and we were not disappointed! Best for foodies as you can order a lot of their smaller plates and share.. We told them we wanted to go slowly and order only one dish at a time and share and the waitress was totally happy to accommodate: no rushing us at all. Great cocktails and really nice selection of 375ml wine bottles for even more sampling opportunities. Ordered a cab for us back to our hotel. Romantic and fun. Only complaint is we got there early for our reservation and they tried to seat us at a front table and it was sooooooo cold by the drafty front door. We asked them to move us to the main seating area and luckily it hadn't filled up yet so they were able to move us."

"We once again did the chefs choice and were wonderfully rewarded. We especially enjoyed the grilled salmon with razor clams (esquisette);the hay roasted lamb, the carrot salad; the anchovies with a coddled egg, and a special treat from chef Snyder in the form of beautifully prepared oysters. Our entire meal was a wonderful adventure in fine dining. Our friends who had never been here were delighted. It appears this restaurant is focusing on creating wonderful food and providing fantastic service to create a memorable dining experience. We will most definitely return again."

"The staff was very friendly and the service was fast; in fact a bit too fast. We were a group of 8 and chose both hot and cold tasting menus and the dishes were hitting the table faster than we could taste them or talk about them and we felt rushed. The menu looked like a nice blend of flavors but about every other dish was somewhat bland and unremarkable with all of the ingredients tasting the same
This is not meant to be a negative review. The restaurant has potential if the dishes can be tweaked to have a bigger pop, more distinct flavors. I think that as it developes it will be a much better restaurant in a few years."

"The service was wonderful; everyone was genuinely nice and fun. However, I was pretty disappointed with the food. The lamb with sliced truffles (the large plate we had) was by far the best thing we tried. The truffles complemented the lamb well, and the meat was tender. My husband's only complaint with this dish was that it was on the small side for the price.
I found the small plates we tried to be far-reaching. It really felt as if ingredients were paired together only for the sake of "pushing the envelope." While it sounds interesting, topping fresh perogies with fish roe does nothing for the dish. The flavors and textures were incongruous, and this mistake was repeated in the other small plates."

"This was such a memorable meal. Park Kitchen was well appointed but unpretentious, which is how we like it (I was dining with my teenager/son who is quite the gourmand). It completely exceeded expectations in regards to the menu, quality of ingredients, creativity and preparation of the dishes. The menu was well curated and the presentation and portions just perfect. A great place to order many dishes and share! Wine list was excellent as were the cocktails... service was perfect."

"We went on Valentine's Day for the 4 course special, the only thing they offered. The food was very good, as usual, but there was no choice on the first course, and assuming that everyone likes an oyster on the half shell is overly assuming. There were 3 choices for the large plate, with the lamb costing an additional $10, which seemed petty to me when you're already paying $65."

"Portions are small. The price would be justified if the food was consistently outstanding, but the salmon dish left something to be desired. Everything else we tried was excellent, if not completely filling.
The service is friendly and attentive, which is helped by the restaurant's small size. The decor needs to be updated, but a changing weekly menu keeps things exciting. Wines on tap are definitely worth trying."

"Front of House is great. They are attentive w/o being pushy, knowledgeable, friendly, drinks were great. Kitchen is clearly skilled, but it was not clear what they were trying to pull off (to be). The dishes try too hard to be unique. Example: Roasted Pork with Hominy, this looks like a deconstruction of Posole. And while an interesting idea ... "Eh" was the best I could say about it. I'd rather have Posole in a bowl. Best dish by far was the Bacon, blood oranges, watercress. It may be purely a tastes and preferences thing (mine not in alignment with the chef's). Again, it is clear there is a lot of skill in the kitchen, but there is a big gap between this kitchen and some of the hot ones in Portland right now."

"A creative restaurant with a broad menu of small and large plates, much like tapas but more substantial. If you are planning on dinner (and not merely a snack), try the small and large plate tasting menu. While it's strictly "chef's choice", the variety is excellent and the value is superior. You get two small plates, one large (dinner) and dessert all for $55. My wife and I ordered it for 2, and the assortment was sensational."

"We haven't been to this restaurant in years, but an out-of-town visitor wanted to eat here. Food was delicious, but entrees are priced way too high for the amount of food you get. The cabbage roll (as in one cabbage roll) was laughable at $24. There were only four tables of guests so that was a bit surprising."

"We decided to go for the "gusto" and did the small and large plate chef's tasting. We were not disappointed. The carrot salad and beet salad blew us away (we love beets) and the flank steak salad is always a hit fornus. We were very impressed with the salmon and clam dish and the braised pork and hay roasted lamb were soooo delicious. Our compliments to chef Ethan and his team, we felt well cared for and really enjoyed this time sharing a wonderful dining experience with our friends."

"All of our 8 small plates ordered were interesting flavorful food. Given the ambience - a bit clattery and urban/tight, the prices and scene fit Brooklyn, not Portland. Please mark down closer to the $$ range and we can come in more often."

"This was (no exaggeration) a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience. My parents were visiting from out of town, and we were able to try out several of Portland's hot spots over the weekend (Beast, Aviary etc.), but Park Kitchen was by far and away our favorite. We especially liked the house-cured anchovies, the bacon & blood oranges, the carrots, and the pork & hominy. The goat panna cotta for dessert was unforgettable. The service, also, was above and beyond. The servers answered our questions and were happy to chat with us, especially my (very chatty) parents. They kept our glasses full and were very attentive, but never overbearing. So rare in Portland! A real find."

"Overall nice time and enjoyed the food and ambiance. The only hitch for me was the music which was eclectic and interesting, but not loud enough to enjoy, just loud enough to compete with everyone's conversation. I think I would prefer something less obtrusive and more mood setting."

"We loved the open kitchen atmosphere and the great food provided by the "chef's choice" option on the menu. The server helped select a perfect wine for our meal and we enjoyed being delighted with a great meal selected by the chef. We especially enjoyed the homemade butter and butter milk bread plate, lamb sausage hot plate, tuna belly salad, the anchovie & coddled egg plate and the charred carrot plate. We felt well attended and being asked if we were being pleased during our visit was a nice touch. The chef did an outstanding job providing us with a wonderful dining experience. Thank you."
