Latitude 43 Restaurant and Sushi Bar is a contemporary seafood restaurant on the harbor featuring coastal cuisine and creative sushi. The beautifully constructed restaurant is a delight to the senses, featuring green architecture, museum worthy sculptures, beautiful water views, and a sushi bar lowered into the floor for an authentic sushi experience. The restaurant also houses a cozy living room with a granite fireplace and a casual tavern with a pub style menu and regular live entertainment. In the summer, dine outside on our oceanfront patio and indulge in one of our many culinary delights while sipping on a creative cocktail. In the winter, relax by the warmth of our fire with a glass of wine and a tasty appetizer.
Latitude 43 is more than a restaurant, it is a truly unique aesthetic
experience.
Reservations are accepted for the main dining room only.
"We dined at Lat 43 while vacationing in the Gloucester area. We ordered from the traditional menu. The food was outstanding. Just a brief recommendation on the service. Our waiter, Brett was rather abrupt in his presentation and seemed preoccupied. When describing the local fish of the day, we did not hear him clearly, however when he repeated it, he did so with impatience. We then saw other tables being brought bread baskets, so had to ask for ours. Overall, we would return to your restaurant based on the food quality and would hope for a different server."

"Food here is quite good, but overpriced...$20 for fried pollock ?!?!? Cmon folks! However, the appetizers are lovely and you can get 1/2 sized entrees. Just make sure you order correctly because they will not ask if you want the 1/2 size! Overall, it's a good place (kid friendly too) for fresh fish & sushi."

"We have been to Latitude 43 several times with special guests and the quality of service is exceptional each time. The entree selections boast unique, creative combinations, something for every palate. All the resturants related to this chain have a familiar design that makes you want to stay longer to drink it all in. The sushi bar is simplictic perfection and balances the menu perfectly."

"My wife and I have been here several times and we live locally. Given that the space is so nice, we wish the food were better. It has never been bad, mind you, but never excellent either. On this visit, I had salmon that was over-done, sweet potatoes that were way over-done, and greens that lacked seasoning. You'll get a good meal, just don't expect fine dining. It's sister restaurant in Gloucester (Alchemy) is always better."

"If youve seen this reality show. This place needs a makeover. . Although our server was outstanding my daughters order was wrong(she has food al.lergies but yet they served her food with cheese . I ordered a fishermans PLATTER which was served in a metal basket. Other resturants that Ive dined in have always served scollops as one of the ingredients this one did not. It contained one small piece of dry fish three shrimp a ridiculous amount of tiny calimari rings and some overcooked stuff that I guess was supposed to be fried clams. The dish was overcooked a very greasy, the absolute worst fishermans platter Ive ever had. Oh did I mention the mound of mushy fries.....blah I wouldnt go back there."

"Excellent meal as always. My daughter and her friend love the Sushi. Zorba was without a doubt one of the best waiters we have ever had --- anywhere! Great selection of food, wine and drink -- something for everyone. Highly recommend it."

"This is my second time at Latitude 43. The first time I was not impressed, but because I LOVE Gloucester, I wanted to try it again. Glad that I did. First off, the service was so much better than last time A+ to the staff. Second, the sushi improved, very tasty. I also had a signature salad that was fresh and out of this world. Let folks know that this is a great place to eat."

"I was visiting familty on an extended stay from a Boston convention. Lat 43 was my g/f's mom's go-to spot. She considered it a gem, so it made me excited to be there.
I was looking for an experience halfway between touristy and local (local is fine, but they don't necessarily try hard to impress; touristy impresses, but is less genuine). Lat 43 delivered on my needs.
The service seemed sparse; our server--Toby? bald, caucasian gentlemen--had a /= 5 table section on a slower night, including an 8-top with kids, a slow eating older mom & son, chit-chatty lady friends, and our casual three top, but did a great job of managing his time and letting us know that our requests were knowledged, even if he couldn't get to us right away."

"We felt that the on-line reservation system was great. Parking was good (we had a handicapped person). We felt that the food choices were slim and my Cobb Salad was just fair. The chowder was declared very good. As a group we tend to look for restaurants where entrees and drinks are a little less prohibitive. None of this means we will never return. We might. Reservations are a big advantage."

"Great sushi and martinis. Try the frescatini - it will give you a buzz. The sushi is great and there are two vegetarian options. The tuna was delicious served with rice cakes. Their Arancinis are always good. Soon one can sit outside and enjoy the harbor scene - you can't beat that."

"This was my first time dining at Lat43 and it was amazing. The sushi is the best and very fresh. The atmosphere for what Gloucester represents and the staff is friendly and has great knowledge of the menu. I will be coming back very soon"

"We've been to Lat 43 many times. This was a first with a group of 6. The menu is perfect for a large group between the sushi (the best around), small plates, and small portion options of the delicious entrees (day boat scallops!)
After the meal we kicked it up at the Minglewood Tavern with fantastic live music."

"I have eaten here several times, a few times in the bar, a few at the restaurant - the food is consistently excellent - I think I die and go to heaven every time I eat the NORI roll!! The service was excellent as well - literally we ordered our food and we felt like we had a personal chef, because no sooner did we look up, the food was served. Our waitress was very good, she knew the beer menu like the back of her hand, brought a sample for one guest and was right on the money with her recommendation. We even let her surprise us with a dessert because of our trust in her! We then love going to the bar to hear live music - one of the biggest reasons we come north half hour drive... overall very happy with our night!!"

"We loved it! This was our first time at the restaurant and the night was excellent. We had a table that overlooked the sunken sushi bar. The atmosphere was very calming and enjoyable. Apparently in the summer, the restaurant is accessible by boat, as its back wall faces out to the ocean. After enjoying very tasty meals, we headed into their small lounge next to their bar with flatscreens, to have an after dinner drink while sitting next to the wood fueled fireplace. Through a hallway, you can opt to enter their bar, which I thin is actually a different name/establishment. I would encourage you to give this one a try."

"We were seated immediately using open table reservations, even though others were waiting. Food was excellent. We ordered sushi, scallops, pappardelle pasta and fish and chips. All was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. Excellent wine list and martinis were good too. Something for everyone. We'll be back for sure!"

"This was disappointing. Our soup was luke warm at best, My wife's main dish of scallops were crusty on one side and lightly grilled on the other which made them dry and they were luke warm which maybe because they were left on the kitchen warmer for a while. The Small potatoes were cooked the other side of raw and were hard but the sliced brussel sprouts were nice. At the urging of our great waiter Bret, I had the short ribs which were great but they too were just warm and the broccolini that accompanied it was inedible and ruined the dish. Overall we were very disappointed because we don't get out often and were really looking forward to the night. I guess to sum our food was like if you were late for dinner and it was left in the oven."

"Great establishment, yet the service could use polish. All staff, including the kitchen, should be aware that their actions and conversations are very visible to the public, even when not with a guest. Seemed more like a hang out for staff. Polishing this would make this restaurant exceptional!"

"Latitude is such an experience. Love the area with couches next to the bar, makes getting drinks with friends so much more comfortable and inviting, especially with that roaring fireplace! We had the salmon with cranberry chutney and the fisherman's platter, both of which were delightful. Can't go wrong with anything off the mixed drink menu either!"

"We've been to this restaurant a few times and have consistently had very good food. Unfortunately this occassion was disappointing due to service that didn't show up to the table for over 20 minutes, forgotten drinks, wrong drinks served, forgotten coffees with an attempt at humor to mask the extraordinarily poor service. Quite a shame for the first experience at this restaurant for our friends."

"decent food but poor service. We have tried this restaurant several times, always leaving not very impressed, but willing to give it another try. This time, we decided we won't be returning. Service is poor. Wait times are very long. Ambiance in main dining room is in need of improvement - Harsh overhead florescent lighting doesn't feel like the same cozy lounge with the fireplace upon entering or the chic sushi bar. Very mediocre experience overall. We have much better experiences in this restaurant group's other restaurants and will continue to frequent those, but not Latitude 43."
