"The service was terrific and so was the food. We shared the tuna tartar -- it was fresh and delicious. We both had mussels -- different preparations. The mussels were perfectly cooked in broth that was flavorful, but not too rich. A lovely meal."

"We walked over for our 9:30 reservation and we were late. No problem. We got the delicious rabbit cannelloni and the lamb tagine. So much delicious food. Drinks were too sweet and citrussy for our taste. Great spot to eat before going out"

"Having been gifted a prepaid card, I made a reservation prior to my departure from NZ. On arrival at Chambar I was warmly welcomed and escorted to my table. The service was friendly, welcoming and efficient, with menu advice available if required. The meal itself was superb, the main course served piping hot as it should be, and everything beautifully presented. I had no hesitation in asking my waitress to pass my compliments to the chef. A stranger in Vancouver, and on my own, I was helped to feel totally relaxed. Overall a wonderful evening."

"Chambar has been one of my favourites, but it's now off my list. The menu has become very precious, there's little variety (almost all fish), portions are ridiculously small, and prices have gone sky high. The service was the worst I've had in years. Time for the team to take a step back and think again about how to keep,Chambar au courant."

"We had a party of five and everyone ordered something different--and each dish was brilliant. Not fussy, not TOO thought out, just perfect. And perfect portions as well. The service was very friendly and efficient. My only SLIGHT complaint (whine?) is that it was a bit noisy.But it certainly doesn't come close to disturbing the whole experience. If you're a tourist and have only one restaurant to try in Vancouver, I would recommend this one."

"On making our (OpenTable) reservation I noted that it was our 1st. wedding anniversary."If possible a quite table would help make our night special". The main seating area was 90% full and our table was not what we had hoped for. Upon our request the waiter asked the manager if it would be okay to seat us in the closed area. In an instant the manager had put two tables together (so we could sit side by side), lit a candle and ushered us into the empty closed area where we were treated to the most enjoyable dinner, evening we have ever had!

"This was our second trip to Chambar. It was busy and noisy but everything was excellent. Our server, believe we had the first time too, gave us just the right amount of attention. He suggested items that we did end up trying and were not disappointed. We ended up sharing five appetizers amongst the two of us as well as a side of pomme frites. All were good and the fois gras was exceptional."

"A delicious meal can be guaranteed. Service is superb. However, the food could be so much more, with many of the ingredients sourced from around the world there seems to be a disconnect between the "carbon neutrality" they say they have and what's on the menu. Originally meant to be a Belgian restaurant, the place has started to cater to the general Vancouver dining crowd and is threatening to lose its edge. I hope they can get back on track with simpler (does not mean more boring) creativity and continue to be my place to go for a special night out. Until then, I'm sticking to places with a more local source of ingredients (ostrich pate? that's much too cheesy right now)"

"As soon as we entered the hostess was polite and asked us how we were doing. Once she saw our reservation she took us to our seats. We were a bit disappointed that when we asked for a window seat she took us to a table that was a bit closer to the window but not right beside the window. My fiance was a bit disappointed because we both though she would have given us a table right beside the windows (lots available at the 5:30 time slot). Other than that mishap we did enjoy the food (Congolaise moules-frites, poutine a la belge, bread roll & smoked paprika butter and Morue charbonnière au beurre d'amandes) and the servers were very friendly."

"I love Chambar and have for years but was a bit disappointed in our meal this Wednesday. The place was busy so we had made reservations previous to coming in and I doubt the special requests were paid attention to in my open table reso. The server was pretty absent and un-engaging and the boar (cut into three pieces essentially) was 1/3 completely fat. It wasn't the great first date experience I was hoping for. That said, I still love the restaurant and the style and what they're attempting."

"Unbelievable. Where do I start? Phenomenal food, prepared perfectly, served flawlessly, at prices other restaurants charge for everyday meals. Wide-ranging beer menu at reasonable markups; some rare items to be found. There are actually not that many items on the menu--perhaps a dozen small plates, four sides, three styles of mussels and seven large plates.
This meal went off without a hitch. Multiple servers; no one ever auctioned off food. All six beers we ordered were served in the proper glassware, at the proper temperature, and poured correctly. Servers were knowledgeable about food and drink.
Food was outstanding. Creative. Belgian meets Northwest without feeling like trendy fusion. I'd go again and again. A must for any Belgoph"

"I ordered the crab which was a mistake as it came with regular gravy on top and then deep fried chicken with pesto came on the same plate except it wasn't basil pesto, just a tasteless green mush.
However, I think I ordered the wrong thing. My husbands fish was excellent and we both ordered the foie pate which was fabulous.
No specials though.
Their home made chocolates are also to die for.
Lovely place, great atmosphere and I would definitely go again."

"I received such warm and personal service that made my birthday dinner there extra-special - the food alone was an exquisite experience. Some of the flavors made time stop, I swear. The waiters and sommalier were so genuine and really went out of their way to make me feel like I had the place all to myself --- when in fact, the place was overstuffed with loud boisterous hockey fans who went there post-game...and who in no way shape or form were repectful of the other diners with their drunken screeching and hollering. They didn't treat the establishment any different than they would for a dive-bar or sports-pub, which to me is shameful. It's a testimony to how incredible the service and food is at Chambar, it literally made me forget it all"

"This is the second time that I go at Chambar and it will be my last time. I love the service, the ambiance and the decor but the food is really not tasty and had no flavors. I went with two friends originally from Belgium and they were also very disappointed. It's much to expensive for this type of food. I had some mussels the owner should compare with the restaurant 'Salade de Fruits' what it's like to have tasty flavor full food."

"This restaurant is exceptional. I was greeted by the assistant manager twice. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. The cocktails, appetizer, food and wine all had a special touch of attention to detail. Great for a romantic date. It is tucked away on Beatty St and doesn't look like much from the outside, but the atmosphere inside was excellent."

"Chambar had been on the list of places to try for sometime and it did not disappoint in any way. The restaurant is much bigger than the frontage would suggest, opening out the back into a lovely dining space, with a mix of intimate and group spaces. The menu was mouthwatering and service extremely attentive.
The Belgian beer menu was excellent and a dining highlight. We finished our meal with one of the best cheese boards we have had in Vancouver. Definitely a location to return to."
