"We called as we were delayed in rush hour traffic buy about 20 minutes. No problem as our favorite table was waiting for us. This is a great spot to go before the Opera. Service and food selection is outstanding."

"Lloyd's is an excellent value when you are downtown, rsprcially if oign to the opera. They will give you a voucher for $6.50 that pays for parking in the building... quite a savings. It is just across the stree form the opera house and it never takes long to get out of the parking after the opera."

"We -- like many people in the dining room that night -- went to Lloyd's solely because of its proximity to the Lyric Opera. I expected mediocre food and hoped for decent cocktails in the old school Chicago tradition, but my date and I were pleasantly surprised. The food was "good," the wine list was quite nice, the cocktails were fine, but what raised the overall level was the exceptional skill of our server, Nadi, who knew precisely the right balance between attentive and over-attentive, brimmed with personality, offered detailed descriptions and informed recommendations, and guided us to a perfect -- and entirely unexpected -- wine. In many ways, Lloyd's is average, but we will absolutely be returning based on our pleasant experience!"

"We initially went to Lloyds because it is across the street from Lyric Opera. We keep returning as the food is very good and very reasonably priced. Service is quick and attentative. Atmosphere is warm and comfortable. Noise level is much better than most due to carpeting and lower ceilings. Also, the tables are not too close together. Friendly wait staff.
I really enjoy the corn and crab soup and the Lake Whitefish. My wife had the beef shortribs last visit and they were excptional. The peanut butter pie is sinful and should be split between 2 people lest you feel like you just downed a pound of peanut butter fudge."

"The staff was great. Our original seat was in the back room and very loud. We asked to be moved to a less noisy area. The staff apologized and immediately moved us to a quieter area in the front of the restaurant. Unfortunately the food wasn't very good. Overall, because of the staff, our experience was good. Because of the food, I'd have to say we're unlikely to return."

"Every time I go to Lloyd's the experience is a good one. The food is always tasty, the portions are more than enough, the service is excellent but not "hovering". Its a good place to take clients because it is stylish but affordable. I also appreciate the fact that the acoustics of design don't make it difficult to carry on a conversation - may of the restaurants downtown have that problem."

"My wife and I had an early dinner prior to a Saturday opera. We were seated immediately upon entering and confirming our reservation. The place was pleasant and had traditional jazz playing (not too loudly) on the sound system. My wife had the special soup of the day (black bean), a salad, and hummus appetizer, and she enjoyed all. I had the filet medallions and thought it was very good and cooked as ordered. With two glasses of wine, one dessert, and coffee, the tab was less than $70. Service was timely and unobtrusive. Lloyd's is a good option before opera or theater."

"This was my first time to Lloyd's and I didn't even know it existed! We were going to the Opera so I did a search for restaurants nearby and Lloyd's appeared. The food was good, the decor was amazing, and the restaurant was huge. Our waitress was not all that great at being attentive and introducing herself. I would go back again and sit in a booth next time."

"My third visit here, this time after work on a Friday, and I learned a lesson. Forget Friday night here. The place was packed with noisy drinkers. The service was slow and forgetful with too many different servers and seemingly no one in charge of our table. A few of the problems: service plates for the appetizers came right after we finished them, the calamari was rubbery, had to ask three times for cream for the coffee, entrees took almost forty-five minutes to appear, my steak was cold, had to shout to be heard by my companions, special dessert promised for a birthday celebration dropped off the radar, etc., etc. Moral: Stick to lunch and mid-week dinners here. This is usually a much better place then."

"This was our first time at Lloyds which was recommanded by a friend who eats there before going to the opera. When arriving my date and I were greeted promptly and cheerfully and seated right away!! IE...not being asked to sit at the bar for a drink. When seated we were greeted within 30 seconds of our waiter. The watier was polite and knew what ingrediants were used in a certain dish. The staggering of appetizers and main meal were spaced properly. The food was fantastic...hot, delicious and wishing there was more room in my stomach for seconds!!! You will not be disappointed with the service, food or price."

"We choose Lloyds because it is directly across the street from the Lyric Opera and we were going to the opera that night. When we arrived they had our table waiting and we were sat right away. The waiter was attentive and the food excellent. The decor was contmeporary Frank Lloyd Wright style which I enjoyed very much. I would recommend Lloyds to anyone."

"Having spend 3 hours at Lloyd's, I can honestly say we had a great time. The drinks are wonderful (special priced martinis on Thursdays) and we never felt rushed during our visit. Hubby and I each had "comfort food" dishes - I had the tortellini and he had the chicken pasta, both with a cream sauce. Our *only* complaint would be that the cream sauce is very, very thin and not very satisfying. The rest of the meal - including the caramel cheesecake dessert! - was wonderful."

"I am always impressed with the standard of food,service etc.They cope with a big pre-opera crowd perfectly.The parking is included in the meal if you park at 1E wacker which is a great plus. Highly recommend it."

"We were seated at a table in what is basically a hallway by the door, coat check and host desk. If we'd been seated in the real dining area we wouldn't have had to deal with half an hour of a man pacing with his cell phone. They print their food menu on 11x17 paper and there is ONE vegetarian entree IF you ask for the tortellini without the bacon. The cream sauce was actually a cream soup served in a bowl. The pasta was well past al dente. The service was fine, not bad but not great. I hadn't been to Lloyd's for many years and now I remember why. When they moved they should have considered refreshing the menu and the service."

"Sat. 5:00pm we were among the first reservations. It was low key Frank Lloyd Wright atmosphere and very quiet at our booth.
Wide variety to choose from on a VERY reasonably priced menu.
What a nice surprise to find that our deliciously moist 2 selections of tuna and salmon came with potato and vegetables. Generous portions of the 3 items!
The bonus was to be able to walk directly across the street for the performance at Lyric Opera House! Self park garage was directly below the restaurant!
Recommended to us by frequent Opera goers who enjoy their meals HERE before each performance.
We thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience and would definitely return!"

"I feel I owe it to Lloyd's to report a good experience this week following a not-so-great (and abnormal) one last week. Server was on top of things, extremely efficient and pleasant and our meal was served just as ordered. Whitefish and tuna ahi entrees were well-prepared, and we were out in plenty of time for our opera. Whatever the problem was last week, it was cleared up and things were as good as usual."

"My tuna sashimi dish was excellent, my friend's lemon chicken very good but not outstanding. I highly recommend Lloyd's for a pre-opera dinner or any other time. The food and the service is good and the prices are quite reasonable considering it's location. The addition of affordable parking right in the building is a plus. All in all, Lloyd's was quite a pleasant dining experience."
