"The menu is was drew us to visit Urban Bar & Grille.. So many wonderful and creative dishes. The veggie burger was great! There is patio dining so you get to people watch, which is great since its in the heart of the Gas Lamp District. Prices very reasonable and the server was very relaxed, but on top of it as well. We will definitely go back when we are back in San Diego."

"Eat here late on a Saturday on their outdoor patio. They had a live musician inside that was the perfect background music. Our server was friendly offering San Diego vacationing ideas as well as food recommendations. I ordered the polenta crusted chicken - the sauce on the chicken will live in my mind forever! It was amazing! My companion ordered the Urban Burger which was said to be delicious and perfectly cooked. The restaurant had a decent size wine list with bottles ranging from cheap ($30s) to more expensive to suit any taste."

"Made reservation for Sat night and noted that it was for a birthday. Arrived early - it was dead. We were shown to an inside table by a surly hostess. We asked if we could sit at one of the empty outside tables and were told we didn't reserve that. Hello? Didn't even know that was possible. She said we would have to wait to 30 mins(keep in mind there were empty tables outside and inside). Decided to wait in the bar. Drinks and service in bar was good. Waited 50 mins for a table. Waiter seemed annoyed. Also no mention of the birthday was made by the staff or any dessert tray presented to our table and we would have paid for the dessert. Food was great but service was poor. Will not go back. Plenty of other great restaurants."

"This was my first time dining at UB&G and I could not have asked for better. First of all, our waiter's service was impeccable and I will return to this restaurant over other options in downtown because of the service my party and I received (with two children, a well-behaved ages 6 and 2). It was very nice to see staff treat our children as little ladies. The parmesan crusted salmon was delicious and my husband's rigatoni dish didn't survive past five minutes, it was so good he barely spoke so he could continue eating. The girls received linguini with marinara sauce and also sliders with shoestring fries - both were loved and made the girls very happy. Draft beer selection was around 6 (?) but well selected. Happy all the way around :)"

"Great food, and very attentive service. Some of the food items are pricey, the beef dishes and desserts, but worth it since this was a special occasion and I had a $50 gift certificate.

it wasn't crowded so my friends and I were allowed to eat and chat as long as we wanted. We didn't feel rushed to leave once we were done eating.

The ribeye and short rib dishes are fantastic."

"Everything was good, the food was pretty delicious and fast. However, when I asked for the bill, i let the waiter know that I had a certificate and put my card along with it. They didn't credit the certificate and ended up charging me the total amount, I let them know and corrected it, but then my card did was not authorized and they could not cancel the previous check. I ended up borrowing my girlfriend for her card, and made me feel embarrassed."

"Made arrangements for a group during a conference in SD. Got feedback that everyone enjoyed their meals very much -- including lamb, halibut, lobster, salad, pasta, and more. Service was good and attentive. Drink specials in the bar during happy hour were very nice. $5 for a delicious martini. Waiter was good about making suggestions for shared appetizers and being honest about what dishes were or were not his favorites. I would come back when in SD again."

"Decent restaurant........ nothing great, nothing spectacular. Everything was completely decent. The Quesadilla was decent, the kobe burger decent and the chicken dish was decent. The server was decent.......... again nothing great, nothing spectacular. I would rename the establishment........ " Decent ". The only thing that was not decent was the price..........if you want to charge 17 for a burger and 20 for a chicken dish YOU BETTER BE MORE THAN DECENT. Gordon Ramsey would kill this place.........kill it. If you love mediocrity and just decent things things in lfe......... go here. I have high standards.......I want more than decent when I dine, watch a movie or go on a date!!!!!!"

"Some food was excellent, but others were slightly lacking. The sliders were delicious. I could make the polenta encrusted chicken with quinoa at home if I wanted to. It was good though. The drinks were all well mixed and really delicious. The service was great and he accommodated all our coupons and such gracefully. We really enjoyed ourselves."
