Ondo's Spanish Tapas Bar
Co-owners and Executive Chefs, Curt and Deicy Steinbecker opened Ondo's in the Fall of 2009 with a vision of creating Denver's finest tapas bar. Trained at "La Escuela de Cocina Luis Irizar" in the heart of picturesque San Sebastian, Spain, the Steinbecker's infuse every dish they create with extensive knowledge and passion for Spanish and Basque country cuisine. Deicy and Curt studied, lived and worked in San Sebastian and Barcelona for 5 years. During this time, they had various internships at some of the most renowned restaurants in the city, including places with three Michelin stars, learning from internationally renown Basque chefs like Juan Mari Arzak and Pedro Subijana.

"I just got back from a 2 week trip to Spain and loved the food there so thought I would try Ondo's. The food was really good, dishes I had in Spain were prepared a little differently but I thought overall it was pretty authentic. The only downside was the service. The server had an in your face attitude and this is the way it is; like it or leave it approach to the food. Will go back and hopefully not get the same server."

"After a wonderful summer vacation across Spain my family and I were desparately craving authentic Spanish cuisine. This was just the place! We loved the pintxos at the bar and iberico jamon. Everything was delicious and the waitress friendly and informative. The flamenco tunes added the perfect touch. We will definitely be back for more."

"Great Tapas restaurant for friends to enjoy a shared meal experience over drinks and good food. Best item by far was the beef smothered in a Gorgonzola sauce - FANTASTIC! Overall, we ordered about ten plates for four of us and not one was disappointing. I would highly recommend the Gin Germaine if you are a gin drinker. The service was knowledgeable and prompt; we received everything in a timely manner."

"After hearing about this place for years, I finally tried it. I was not disappointed. There were 4 adults and a child, and we ordered 8 plates to share. 7 of the 8 were fantastic, especially the beef tenderloin, the only one that did not impress suitably was the scallops. The wine and cocktails were very good, and the service left nothing to be desired. This will be repeated soon."

"The food is simply amazing. With every bite, I felt like being at a Tapas bar during my last trip to Spain (except the ham leg hanging from the ceiling... Hahaha). Service was good. The waiter took our order in a "mental" note and unfortunately missed one of the things we ordered, which turned out to be ok because we were full at the end of the night. I had a beer with dinner, but my girlfriend mentioned her "house Margarita" was a bit too strong. Place was crowded, but the noise level and the Spanish music in the background were perfectly set you could have a normal conversation. Overall, a little bit of Spain in Denver."

"My husband and I went to Ondo's for the first time during Denver Restaurant Week, and we absolutely fell in love. The food was unbelieveable! One of the best meals that we have ever had. I don't believe that you can find better Tapas outside of Spain. We will be coming back, and have already told family and friends to check it out. "The food at Ondo's was very good and reasonably priced. We sat at the bar for dinner and were comfortable. The bartender Joseph was our server and he was very knowlegable and attentive, even though he was also servicing the dining room waitstaff for drinks and a fully seated bar. We had a variety of tapas including desert and everything was well prepared and tasty(!). We will definitely being back to try more from the large and diverse menu."

"I have been to Ondo's several times and wanted to share this under rated restaurant withe friends. Everyone is so gracious...the owner seated us. The food was absolutely fabulous and the wine special went very well with all the foods we selected. Their filet with blue cheese sauce just melted in your mouth...the fish and scallops were cooked perfectly. Definitely a hidden gem in Cherry Creek North!"

"We went for Restaurant Week, as a treat, and were very pleased. We will go again, probably for the Happy Hour and its selection of foods available then.
Live in Lakewood so it was a trek, but well worth it. Our server, Brian, was very helpful--just enough attention, not overly gushy."

"This Cherry Creek gem has its own parking, very nice interior and friendly and helpful wait staff. The food was very good and well presented. Tapas allows you to share the flavors with your companion and enables one to leave comfortably filled but not with that over-stuffed feeling. The desserts are too great to pass up. Highly recommend it."
