"It's nice to see that Bacco is still doing well after 20 years - that was the last time I lived in the neighborhood. Now that I have moved back, I wanted to check out the local haunts. Bacco's decor hasn't really changed much, and neither has the food. We had a various selection - octopus, antipasti, seafood pasta, rabbit ragu, veal medallions. The Montepulciano was perfect. All were excellent. The tiramisu was spot on. A great night of food and wine!"

"I have been to Bacco Ristorante several times and each time the food and service have been wonderful. For this occasion we were celebrating birthdays and had a group of 14 - which I thought was a rather large group for the restaurant but they were very happy to accommodate us. We were seated in an alcove so that we were away from most of the smaller tables, the wait staff were attentive and the wine and food delicious. We needed gluten free meals for some diners and Bacco was totally ready for this request - actually, they initiated the question with us!"

"I had a lovely meal at Bacco. I can't believe I've lived so close to it for many years without trying it. I enjoyed the food and thought the prix fixe was very fair, although I ended up not getting it myself, some of my friends did. I had the beet gnocchi which was really good, but I was jealous of my friend's Sacchetti which had a more homestyle taste. I would definitely order that next time. I liked the restaurant and service. I will be back."

"I've been to Bacco before and really liked it in the past. This time the food was just OK, not great. I was entertaining out-of-town guests so that made it a bit more disappointing.

"Had been meaning to go for a long time, we live only blocks away. Food was okay but not impressive by any means. Large portions but mediocre quality made food overpriced. Terrible service, waitress walked away mid-order and never checked in after "serving" us. I would have sent my dish back (black squid ink pasta with calamari) because the calamari were over cooked and dish was flavorless. Will not return."

"A very disappointing visit. I know that restaurants sometimes have special menus for Valentine's Day, and that was certainly the case here. My partner and I had checked out the menu before going to Bacco (our first visit to this restaurant), and had two appetizers and two entrees in mind to order. NONE of them were on the special menu. I heard the couple at the next table ask if they could order from the regular menu, and were told no. It seems to me that this abbreviated menu benefits the restaurant, not the dining public. I can't imagine going back there. Future Valentine's Day celebrations will be held on February 13th from now on..."

"We are regulars at Bacco and love the neighborhood atmosphere and excellent food. Service is always warm. At peak times, the noise level can get very loud (with tile floors and other hard surfaces). And there does not seem to be any heat in the place! I always go prepared with lots of layers, and notice that other diners are sometimes wearing their coats."

"Make a reservation. Not that they will not accomodate, because they will, but make one anyway. The place was packed and a young couple walked in without reservations. After a few minutes, the friendly and courteous staff made it happen for this young couple. Instead of turning them away, a place was made/found for them.
The food is incredible. The staff is super friendly. Food was served as ordered. The place was filled with mostly locals from the neighborhood and a couple that came specifically to this side of town for this restaurant (we overheard). We were the only tourists there and it felt like we it right in.
You will love it."

"Although the food was quite tasty, service was slow and very unwelcoming. There were only a few other customers the evening I visited. My party of six finished our meal at 9:15, yet, when I asked to order a meal to take away for my husband, I was told the kitchen was closed. My family frequented Bacco years ago, but we stopped going because we felt they were unwelcoming to our several young children. That's fair enough, although one would think a neighborhood restaurant needs to accommodate children. On this recent evening, I was part of a party of six adults but again felt a lack of warmth. Maybe it's just me, but I think I won't bother to try again."

We each ordered the Prix Fixe option and shared the salt cod with polenta appetizer and a green salad. I got the risotto with safron and green peas, and it was fabulous, while my husband ordered the tagliatelle pasta with wild boar ragu, which he enjoyed. The flourless chocolate cake was fantastic. The staff was friendly and attentive to my special needs, the food was excellent, and the setting charming and intimate. Overall, a very good experience. Five stars!"

"We were disappointed to find that the white tablecloths have disappeared. Howeverm the sauteed calamari was outstanding, the wine list interesting, and they happily split a secondo for us. Bacco is back on our A-list."

"I found this restaurant while exploring SF awhile ago. It has been a must stop spot during each trip since. I've dined alone and with friends at this remarkable restaurant. All of the pasta dishes are exemplary. I recently started with the split pea soup, tasting nothing as good since my last trip to Europe. And it's great having a wine list you won't find elsewhere. But what I love most are the people. Each person is eager to assist your entire dining experience. Perfecto!"

"I went to Bacco with some level of anticipation - the menu looked interesting and there were enough delicious-sounding pasta options that I had a difficult time choosing. (The options for secondi piatti were more limited, however.) Unfortunately none of the four dishes we ordered were anything above ordinary. The highly-touted rigatoni (with sausage, tomato and cream) lacked any creamy goodness. On top of that, the flavors seemed out of balance. The fettucine was cooked al dente, but the wild boar sugo put me in mind of Fancy Feast - not so much the taste (not that I've actually tasted Fancy Feast) as it was the little cubelets of meat. The beet salad was ordinary, and the meatballs bland."
