Maureen and Clif Holt welcome you to Little Savannah Restaurant and Bar, a unique Southern Bistro located in the heart of Forest Park Village where locals and travelers alike enjoy our distinctive hospitality daily. From fresh locally-grown Alabama produce to one-of-a-kind cocktails, Little Savannah has made its mark as one of Birmingham"s finest restaurants. Enjoy supper in one of the quaint dining rooms or pull up a chair at the bar and spend some time with the locals. In warm weather months, dine out back on the wooden deck beside Maureen's back of the house garden. She grows berries, herbs, and even has a concord grape vine. Meat and produce from farmers across North Alabama help "keep it local," along with fresh, seasonal libations and work from featured local artists hanging on the walls. The dinner menu changes daily to highlight the freshest local ingredients and the award-winning wine list compliments each dish. Join us tonight and see why the locals "feel right at home."
"Incredible food...southern gourmet. Seasonal food, thus seasonal menus. They are big supporters of sourcing ingredients from local farms, which is admirable. Outstanding service. Food is perfectly proportioned...not overwhelming, but you'll leave full and wanting to come back for more. The only negative is that the seating can feel a bit cramped-but that isn't a big deal to us. Highly recommend it!"

"My husband and I went to Little Savannah for our anniversary. It was a really pleasant experience. The atmosphere was relaxing and I loved all the artwork on the walls. Our waiter was great and answered all of our many questions. The food was excellent. The fried catfish appetizer was the best catfish I've had in a long time! We we're also served two glasses of complimentary champagne for our anniversary, which I thought was very nice. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. We'll be back. Soon!!"

"The menu is not suited for individuals that do not eat seafood. Most of the non-seafood items contained at least one seafood component. The chicken was very basic, something cooked at home. Very small portions - high prices. Red beans and rice - beans were hard and the dish lacked flavor. Our waiter was great but our tab was very high and could have made better food at home. All in all we were there for the experience but probably would not go back for the food - maybe a drink at the bar."

"As always, LS (Little Savannah) delivered a top notch, unique dinner and venue. We were entertaining 7 out of town guests and wanted to show off the charm and culinary excellence with one if our favorites. They didn't disappointed! Our guests were so impressed that we have this level of culinary exploration in a city like Birmingham. It's not cheap but the quality far exceeds anything by comparison especially when you consider the atmosphere it delivers. Great unique and creative bar drinks and wine lists. you have to beat the regulars for reservstions however on weekend nights. Well done!t"

"This was my second visit to Little Savannah and I am heading back again tonight to introduce another group of friends to this fantastic restaurant. I hosted a party of four for Sunday brunch and every aspect of the experience was perfectly wonderful. First of all, it is a charming restaurant visually, both romantic and cozy. The service was warm, attentive and highly professional and, most important, the food was spectacular. We had red snapper with a marvelous sauce and crabcake over garlic crea spinach topped by a poached egg. Yum! Owner Maureen and Cliff ( Cliff is the chef) and manager Phyllis were exceptional warm and welcoming. An outstanding dining experience in every respect!"

"Myself and four friends recently dined at Little Savannah and it was one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. We take an annual vacation, each time to a new city, focused on local food and wine. We've been all over the US and Little Savannah ranks at the top. The relaxed dress and comfortable decor made it easy to relax, but the quality of the food and service remind you that you are in a fine dining establishment. The cocktails were creative and fun, there was something for everyone. We highly recommend the fried alligator tail and the Black Angus tender off the dinner menu. Little Savannah is a must for anyone headed to Birmingham!"

"The food and service at Little Savannah is always good. However, on this visit I chose a vegetable plate option, and was a little surprised to see a totally "green" plate arrive at our table. Small garden salad, green beans, asparagus, and spinach. All of the veggies were cooked to perfection, but that was green overload. Maybe just not offer a vegetable plate on the menu if you can't put a little color variety in. Its still a great eatery."

"We always enjoy our meals at Little Savannah. It was very thoughtful for the wait staff to give us sparkling wine at the end of our email when they heard we were celebrating a birthday - nice touch. One of the best things about Little Savannah (beside the great food) is the wait staff knows when it is time for things to move - like when everyone is through with appetizer and you are not sitting there waiting for the main course. Totally enjoyable!"

"This was our second visit to Little Savannah. The Bistro Tenderloin was mouth-watering delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly to order. The service, however, was quite so stellar. After we were seated, the waiter was quite prompt in coming to see if we were ready to order a drink. We had only been seated a minute before, so we hadn't had a chance to look at the menu. I regret that we let the waiter leave. We waited for a while before he returned to take our drink order. In fact, by that time, we were ready to order our entrees. I received my salad promptly, but there was an unusually long delay between the salad and receiving our entrees."

"It has been maybe 2 years since I went to Little Savannah, but we used to go often. Past experiences have been great food, creative cuisine. It is on the pricey side for Birmingham, but always been worth it. Until now. Salad was tiny, only vinegar for dressing, 2 raisin size goat cheese, 1 raisin size fruit, maybe 2 walnut pieces. No taste or texture to dressing except vinegar. Chicken liver appetizer - very over-fried, plus slaw which had different ingredients from salad, tasted the same: very acidic vinegar. This and a cocktail (ginger martini, delicious) was to be my light supper. Would've been perfect except for the taste !! Will no longer recommend, which I hate, because it used to be a favorite."

"Wait staff is friendly, accommodating, and attentive. Portion sizes were woefully small for the money spent on the meal. Satterfield's, Bottega, and Cafe DuPont each serve more for the money. Food portions do not need to be huge, and one does not need to leave the establishment with a doggy bag, but the portion sizes provided were pitiful! Wine list was fine but quite expensive, again compared to the above captioned establishments. The brown paper table cover is cheap appearing; paper over linen is fine in a bistro, but if you feel this is necessary to reduce laundering costs, a white paper covering would be more in keeping with the dear prices commanded for the meals. Delivering only 4 mini corn muffins for a party of 4 is chintzi."

"Dined here for Valentine's Day. Tables were very close together, but it was not much of an issue. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Candles on tables and low lighting was nice touch, so it is romantic, but not super-romantic.
Food was Outstanding and 3 course meal with wine pairings was a great value at $85. I will definitley do it again."

"This restaurant is a gem. From the innovative cocktails to the diverse and well executed menu, it is almost always a delight. On this occasion, we visited for the Balentine's Day prix fixe menu and were not disappointed. The service was not quite up to some other locals spot in a similar price range. Our server (all of 23 years old) told us he had a "sophisticated palette" and his recommended wine tastes "like diamonds". We declined and took the suggested pairings. Other than the uninformed and inattentive service, the meal was delicious."

"I have dined or brunched here four times. The food is fantastic, but the portions are miniscule and prices are high. I would say if the portions were larger the price would be acceptable. Bread/biscuits were not provided to munch on while awaiting the entree (had this been provided we may not have left brunch hungry). The service is mediocre at best, for example the last time I dined here: 2 of the people in our party got menus upon seating yet the rest of us were asked 5 minutes after being seated if we would be needing menus also, and we had to ask for spoons when the waiter finally reappeared as they weren't provided with our coffee. The staff missed the mark. For the price I would expect an impeccable staff and more food."

"We ate late so some of the items on the menu were no longer available. The food we did have was fantastic. The fried oysters were small in portion but fried perfectly with great texture and flavor. Our group had ordered 4 different dishes and everyone thought the food was very good with ample portions for each. The chocolate truffles for dessert were very good. I would recommend this restaurant for adults but taking kids could be difficult due to the space and menu. Great restaurant."

"My husband and I dined here recently on a date. We live in Birmingham but have never tried Little Savannah.. The food tasted good but my dish came out cold. I thought the portion sizes were small for the price. The service was great but we were sat so close to the other tables we felt like we were all supposed to introduce ourselves and eat together. Definitely not what we had in mind for a date night. I would have to say there are better experiences in Birmingham for fine dining. Sorry Little Savannah..."

"Always great local food; beautifully prepared. Menu is limited to what is fresh and available so it is not always extensive and dishes change. If you have strict dietary requirements, you should check the menu before you head over. The smoked duck breast and risotto were spot on for a cold, rainy night. Great place to meet friends for dinner--can sit for a couple of hours, enjoy your wine and conversation, and eat at a leisurely pace; service never feels rushed. When it's crowded, it can get a little noisy and the tables are pretty close together."

"When recently dining at Little Savannah, my party was seated in the front room near the door on a cold night. When we initially asked if we could move to the other room, we were told it would be very difficult for the hostess to rearrange seating plans in spite of the fact we had a reservation. After trying to accommodate the hostess but feeling gusts of cold wind twice as other diners entered, the staff moved us to the other room after our second request. As we were seated, I noticed only one other table in the room was taken. This made it hard to imagine that our change in seating had any bearing on the reservations of others, making the hostess's remarks seem disingenuous. The food and service were good after we moved, however."

"The food and service was great but for the money it would have been nice to get a little more food on the entree. My husband and I where both still hungry after we left. We had drinks and appetizers but the portions are small. We shared two apps with another couple. Overall it was a very nice place and out waiter was very cheerful. Just paid a lot of $$ to leave somewhat hungry and I do not want to fill myself on sweet desserts late night."

"Really wanted to like this restaurant, but a tiny cold frittata for brunch gets no stars from me. It tasted as if it had been made the previous day and wasn't even warmed up. The flavor was just bland and boring. Although the service was good, with so many stellar restaurants in Birmingham, we will go elsewhere. At least we could walk across the street to V Richards and find something delicious."
