Red hot... just like the name, fire was smoking from the start. Owner-chef Douglas Katz hit a bull's-eye with this trendy American bistro. There are no gimmicks here. "We were in town from Pittsburgh for a little overnight getaway and were hoping to have an enjoyable dinner. fire fit the bill perfectly. Our waiter was top notch and although the food was a bit slow coming out, that was fine as we were "making a night of it." cocktails were lovely and the food was delicious. Highly recommended."

"Both my dining partner and I ordered a fish entree, and in each entree the portion was tiny. For $28 I would expect to get a little more than a 1.5 inch long (.5 inch thick) bite size piece of fish. No vegetables or anything of substance accompanying it, other than a single snap pea and a tiny carrot slice. While the flavor of the dish was exceptional, the entire entree consisted of 3 bites. Very, very disappointing."

"This has been my favorite restaurant in Cleveland for some time. However, the service during my previous three visits for brunch have progressively gotten worse. The food, as always, was absolutely superb. On this visit, our table lacked beverages of any sort for over 15 minutes. Our waiter failed to check in with us after our food was delivered. We were also going to order dessert, but after waiting another 20 minutes, the waiter just dropped the check on our table. He didn't bother to ask whether we wanted anything else or enjoyed our meal. We left feeling our patronage was completely unappreciated (there wasn't even a "have a nice day" or "thanks for dining with us" as we left). So, come to "fire" for the food, but not the service."

"been here multiple times, very nice spot, and an asset to shaker square. Food was yummy, not outstanding fall over myself delicious, but very good. enjoyed the drinks, and banana split dessert was fantastic, I love the sugar on the bananas. The duck was a bit dry, but duck is a difficult dish to cook properly and our service was so great that it more than made up for it. I'd definitely go back again."

"The food was consistently good and the service very competent. It was just that. I think, I expected to be really impressed by the food and the service . Holiday weekend. Place was filled with carefully dressed older yuppies who knew each other. In spite if this the service was not at all snobbish. Chairs are just uncomfortable enough to say they expect to turn the table. Tables are a bit too close together. I would not bother to come back but neither would I discourage someone who wants to go here. It is just fine but not really that special."

"We started with the clay bread appetizer, which was unique and delicious. The complimentary bread and olive oil also went well with the Malbec our waiter recommended. We continued with the beet an chic pea salad, very refreshing, and the parsnip duck soup was tasty. Our pork hop was perfectly charred and sweet almost like a glazed ham. We finished with Chai and the Fire Split, which was an amazing blend of caramel, banana, chocolate, and rich cream. The service was very impressive as well, as our waiter explained everything with expertise and the staff constantly replaced our silverware and refilled our glasses of water. This is definitely a great find and highly recommended. A+!"

"Our server was very efficient, friendly and said yes to all our requests. The food was tasty and the atmosphere was just right for brunch on a beautiful sunday. The chef was making his way around the dining room when he noticed that my pasta sauce had become oily. He immediately sent it back to the kitchen for a new plate without me having to say anything."

"This was our first time in Cleveland, and we found this restaurant on the internet. The food was inventive and delicious. There were six of us, and we all loved everything - which included apetizers, entrees, beer/wine, desserts, coffee/tea. I highly recommend this place. It seemed that we were getting special attention, even though the restaurant was very busy. Everything came in a reasonable time, but we never felt rushed. We would absolutely go again."

"I can not say enough good things about Fire. One of my favorite restaurants anywhere. The menu is seasonal and always has great staple items and the specials are always off the charts. "We've been coming here for several years, mainly for special occasions. When you have something to celebrate, this is the place. The food is routinely spectacular. The menu retains old favorites and regularly introduces novelties.
The tables are sufficiently close that you can easily converse with a happily – met friend, but far enough apart that you are not required to hear what you don't want to. Chef Katz is a benign ubiquitous presence. Servers are knowledgeable, friendly, prompt and informative. They seem authentically to enjoy themselves. You will have a good time, and you will return."

"Have eaten at Fire for dinner but had heard rave reviews on the brunch. I requested going for Mother's Day but due to work came in the day prior. The service was a bit slow but the food was incredible! We started with the sticky buns for the table and sampled many entrees between everyone at the table. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. The drive out from Willoughby Hills was worth it and we will find another excuse to come again soon!"

"I've eaten at Fire several times and have always enjoyed it. However, this was the best meal I've ever had there. The beet and chick pea salad was great. The swordfish was wonderful. Everyone in our group of 11 enjoyed their meal!"

"Was looking for a great local restaurant while visiting Cleveland Heights with my family. Fire was highly recommended to me by a friend. Saturday night at 7:30. We were seated promptly and had a knowledgeable and personable waiter. Claybread and warm olives made for excellent appetizers. I had crispy duck confit (the ducky was just ducky!) and my dining companions enjoyed the maryland blue crab and farfalle and ribeye steak. For dessert it was the fire split - fudge brownie, salted caramel ice cream and brûléed banana. I would call it a divine experience. Chef Douglas Katz came by the table and I hope we expressed how much we loved everything! The inside space is not huge, so be sure to make a reservation!"

"Was much better than expected. Had a lovely Brunch. Gin and OJ speciality cocktail was supurb especially for a Non-Gin Drinker. It just sounded wonderful. Stick bun was excellent. Lots of house made caramel and extra buttery dough. Wife had their version of Eggs Benedict and was top notch. I had pork stuffed crepes - again was done with culinary "LOVE" The crhf/owner even stopped at the table to see how everything was. Nice touch. Will be back to see how dinner is."

"We celebrated our 40th anniversary at Fire and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Several managers stopped over with congratulations and our desserts had a special touch to commemorate the occasion. My husband's Lollo Rosso salad was extra delicious as was the mixed berry crisp for dessert. The presentation of every course was outstanding making the evening even more magical. The special "no-oil vegan" dish made my evening! The entree was creative, yummy and presented with exceptional flair. We look forward to returning for our next celebration!"

"When they brought out my wife's entree with mussels instead of the clams she ordered (from their Specials list), no one bothered to ask her if that was o.k. Since our waiter didn't bring the food himself, he also wasn't around to ask us if our meals were satisfactory. We had to hail one of the floor-monitors over to inquire. Waiter seemed spread a bit thin--covering too many tables no where near ours."

"We went to celebrate our anniversary. We had an outstanding meal. Through appetizer, salads, and entrees, we were commenting on the outstanding flavors. We came early because we were going to the theater. As the tables filled, there were many other couples, family groups, groups of friends and all seemed to enjoy good service and to be having fun. I highly recommend Fire for the outstanding food, good service and pleasant atmosphere."
