Chef/owner Chris Santos has teamed up with Tao owner Richard Wolf, Peter Kane originally of Double Happiness and Happy Ending, and the James Beard 'Best New Restaurant Design' award winning firm AvroKo, to create the newest 'jewel' of Manhattan's Lower East Side.
The design of this three level hot spot tips it's hat to the neighborhood’s garment history and offers diners a culinary odyssey. All menu items are designed for sharing, offering guests a chance to experience multiple dishes and flavors throughout their meal. In addition to its 120 seats, The Stanton Social offers a raw bar, a lounge and the hippest new bar in New York City. Dishes range from $7 - $18 each.
"I have never been rushed out of a restaurant so quikly. We had a group of 6 and were there no more than an hour and 15 min. when bus boys came by to clear our plates and drinks. We literally still had food on the plates and were not done eating. We had to hold on TIGHT to our drinks because they tryed to take those as well including waters."

"The brunch at the Stanton Social was wonderful. Each course was inventive and full of flavor. We sampled several different sliders, goat cheese potato perogies, pull apart orange bread, and chicken and waffles. All of which were excellent. Although famous for the french onion soup dumplings we found them to be just average. The drink menu is extensive with lots of good options. The tables are close together but what you would expect from a hot spot in NY. I will say the noise was not energetic but deafening so if you are looking for a quiet romantic spot this would not be the place to pick. Overall a very enjoyable experience and we will be back. ."

"The downstairs rooms is beautifully designed and inviting. My husband and I were excited to be eating our anniversary dinner there. Unfortunately, we were shunted to the claustrophobic upstairs loft area and placed in the back near the kitchen, even though we had reservations. I think it was because we are an older couple. Everyone in the back of the loft was older, less nicely dressed or from out of town.
The service and drinks were good. Food was served as a series of small plates, generally consisting of 3 portions. It varied from first rate (the famous French onion soup dumplings) to dreadful (the crab meat corn dogs). The smoked duck salad was also good and the pulled chicken, OK. Don't order the pizza unless you love garlic."

"The food was good - but what I thought would be an excellent tappas restaurant was instead a loud club environment. We arrived at 11:30pm and didn't expect to have to wait in a loud bar for another 30 minutes before we were seated. Although we asked for someplace a bit more quiet, we were placed right under one of the speakers... Not a good place to talk and have a romantic dinner. I am assuming that the scene is quite different earlier in the night, but our experience was not a positive one..."

"I went there with my husband and we were meeting 2 friends whom we had not seen in years. They put us at a table at the upstairs bar level and within an hour they started increasing the music volume and it got to a point where we could not hear each other speak. This should not be called a restaurant. It was a nightclub that happened to have tables where they serve foods. I would never have gone had I known it would be this loud."

"Food was good, but the amazment level from last year was gone. Still the onion-dumplings were and always will be the highlight. Service - meh! not only are the tables very close to each other so servers and busser would bump into my shoulder with butts and hips (some ppl might like that and give the other star, but not for me) drinks were empty for majority of our meal, thanks for taking care of my liver, sparkling water was brought without being ordered and then being poored into empty cocktail drinks just shows of short attention span. Nevertheless food was good, Hanger steak was kinda a tough chew, but chicken and waffles made up for it..."

"The food is amazing. Everything we ordered was delicious (wine, meatballs, shrimp and grits, areas, taquitos, smores creme brûlée). The service was very good as well. The atmosphere is also great, but can seem crowded when the restaurant is near full capacity."

"The place was filled with a diverse collection of patrons most of whom had their mothers in tow. A liitle loud for the older mothers. Still the food was fun and adventurous. The waitress and help-staff were very friendly and accommodating. A fine treat for my sister and her son."

"I enjoyed Stanton Social, but I felt really rushed and wasn't very happy about it. We finally had to tell our server that if she wanted we would talk to her manager, but we were there to celebrate a birthday and didn't want to have to put in our entire food order immediately and be booted out. The table next to us turned three times while we were there, and we weren't even there that long for an expensive dinner."

"Stanton Social you have spoiled me. Any time I have small plates/tapas anywhere else, nothing compares. Went for brunch recently and everything was to die for. The lobster benedict was the best I'd ever had. The little pancakes, and as always the meatballs. This place is a must for anyone in NYC"

"My friends and I took my parents to The Stanton Social when they were visiting NYC. The food was wonderful, between the five of us we split about 10 different items as they are small bites and meant for sharing. The French Onion Soup Dumplings were to die for and everything else we ordered was delicious as well. This is a great place to go if you are with a group so you can try a bunch of different items. I can't wait to go back."

"The 2nd time I have been here. I love it because for a party of 4 you order about 8-9 different dishes and share. The variety of choices is amazing and all the food was great. The onion soup dumplings are a must. Great service. They don’t rush you at all but they just keep coming with the food. As soon as you are one with 2 of your dishes they bring 2 more. Save room for the hot donuts with sauce and I had to order the red velvet twinkie...FABULOUS!"

"This is a perfect way to start or end your night. The fact that the food is mouth watering is only half the reason why this place should be the top of everyone's list. The atmosphere is chill, laid back beautiful decor. I went on a Friday night and the music was perfect. Mix of hip hop, house. Really, really awesome. I can't wait to go back!"

"Elegant decor, nice staff, and pleasant atmosphere. Good place for diners who like to share food. The noise level is high and for those on a date; be prepared. We has: lamb souvlakis, meatballs, red snapper tacos, mushroom and fontina quesadilla, raviolis, doughnut holes (comes with 3 sauces for dipping). Everything was pretty tasty and although the portions are small (tapas like) and meant to be shared there are quite substantial and filling. My only 'complain' is I was expecting more complexity and taste for each dish and thought it was a bit flat, hence I'm not convinced TSS is a place I would recommend for foodies, but overall it's pretty good and we had a great time. I recommend TSS and will definitely go again with friends."

"Excellent food, and courteous service. Our waitress was friendly and knew which dishes to recommend which would complement the other plates we had chosen.
Only fault was on settling the tab the guy was in a rush and he put the wrong amount on both cards. An annoying end to an otherwise excellent dinner."

"Too loud for brunch with children. The ridiculously high volume of the 'background' music + the horrible acoustics make this a horrible atmosphere for brunch with a young family. Fine for young, trendy things. I would have thought that they would adjust the volume level for weekend brunch … but it's just as loud then as it is at night."

"Stanton Social is just a consistently great place to go and it is still my favorite restaurant!I love that after all of these years it hasn't changed - the food is still great if not better. The restaurant and bar and the sidewalk too are always packed with people who are having a wonderful time or who're anxiously waiting to get their party started. Whether it's a party of 2 tucked a way in a quiet corner or a large party of 6 living it up in the center of the restaurant - it's a fun, energetic place where a good time is meant to be shared with great food and libations."

Table bussers and food runners worked very hard and efficiently.
Wait staff was more social with each other than I would expect for this type of restaurant. (lots of hanging around the service station) The last time I went the service was better."

"Sometimes slightly quirky restaurant formats (in this case tapas) can be a bit more miss than hit; not here, where we enjoyed every dish we chose and had a good value bottle of wine. Great for a group night out. Only slight criticism was that the tables are pretty packed in if you are not in a booth."

"It was a very nice experience... Food was good and wait staff were pleasant. The tapas dishes came in either 3 or 4 pieces in which some of us needed to share. They should offer us the option to add on pieces to commensurate our group size and for an extra charge of course like beauty and Essex."
