WEST restaurant & bar is a 3 level dining restaurant. We have a 125 seat wine bar dining room on the main floor, a 240 seat lounge on the second floor and a 480 seated roof top patio facing SW overlooking 8th Ave. Our cuisine is Global-Mediterranean.

"Made a reservation for Tuesday. Upon arrival was told to go up 3 flights of stairs to the patio - on a day when the forecast called for rain and the clouds were threatening. If I had requested a patio seating this would have been good, however not being given the option was not ideal. There was no note when the reservation was made that the inside restaurant wasn't available, and a comment to that effect to the hostess was ignored. Started to rain as we were leaving, and I felt bad for those diners that were still finishing their lunches.
Food was okay, service was extremely average."

"Not friendly for people with mobility issues, a long way to the table from the second floor, a lot of stairs, sat us on high stools and would not move us to a chair when requested by one of our party with mobility issues. We asked the server if we could move, she asked management and then told us they would not accommodate us. One of our group had to leave without eating, and after we stayed we discovered there were still a lot of tables that could have accommodated him."

"West has one of the best patios in all of Calgary I think! Really enjoyed the food and service. The view and outdoor ambiance is unique and wonderful. They have heat lamps for slightly cooler weather to keep you warm!"

"Great lunch on a sunny Calgary patio without distracting passers-by. The WEST rooftop location is a relaxing place for lunch. We found the service quick and the food - excellent. I was a little disappointed that I could no longer get a burger on my gluten free bun (new recipe, meat has wheat?). However, the chicken club option worked just as well; especially when paired with a yummy gazpcho!"

"I ordered a chicken club and my lady ordered a steak sandwich... Both hers and mine had the toast burnt.... Instead of complaining we decided to order a bottle of wine to help wash the burnt toast taste. Both meal could have been great if it weren't for that burnt taste. Her steak was indeed cooked to perfection. It's a great place to have a drink! So if I was interested in just drinks I would return."

"We were celebrating my wifes birthday and booked a table for 6 for 6pm. We wanted a later dinner time but the only availbility on Open table was 6pm. We showed up for dinner and were one of the first groups in the place as they open at 5pm. The service was good and food was great however by the time we left about 1.5 hours later the place was till pretty much desearted not sure if this is typical but it was frustrating that we couldnt get a later reservation for a place that was pretty much empty except for another birthday party consisting of about 2 dozen other people. The menue seems to be a little small in terms of selection as well and had been changed since my previous visit."

"Overall great service and excellent food! The only thing I did not like was being seated in a back corner right beside the kitchen for our reserved double date. The dining room was not very busy and seating with an open view of the restaurant and hockey game would have been appreciated. However, after mentioning dissatisfaction the staff was more than accommodating to move our party.

"West is a great spot, whether you are working downtown and are looking for a quick lunch (they have a guaranteed "ready in 20 minutes or less" lunch menu for those in a hurry), or a fun nightclub on the weekend (try the rooftop in the summer time - it's complete with a bar and a DJ!) They also have private rooms / areas if you have a large group. In general the food is pretty good. They are also very accommodating with food allergies."

"I brought my clients to WEST for lunch this week and was very impressed. "They've taken away the ahi tuna entree. This was their best entree, and placed them in a higher class restaurant. The food is now plain, something I would expect from Montana's. Bring back the ahi tuna entree, and I'll be back.

"The table was very uneven which made cutting your food a challenge, the soup of the day as described by the server was not what was ultimately presented to my husband and he didn't like it. For a place as big as West and more known for being a bar I couldn't believe they didn't have a drink menu - just a wine list which wasn't the best anyway. If they do have one, our server didn't know about it. Our server wasn't very good, she kept making mistakes and forgetting about us. We didn't find that it was good value for money and we don't plan on going back anytime soon."

"First time I have had lunch in the restaurant. Wine was great, we had the lunch special, the Artic Char open faced sandwhich..and I am sad to say it was some of the worst fish I have had in some time...It was so badly overcooked and very dry, which is a shame because Artic Char is one of my favoite fishes, and I recommended that my friend also have it. We were unfortunatley disappointed on the lunch, but the dessert ( hot chocolate in a cup, was very very good)"

"We had the Artic Char special, it was awful!
I routinely order Artic Char at Blink and it's far superior...or if you want to serve high quality sea food you might also want to compare the grilled Ahi Tuna at the Met Grill (also very good). The sea food at West is no where near the same standards as these 2 places.
I won't go back to West for the food, there are many other better choices in downtown Calgary to entertain my clients"

"Had the West burger and the bun tasted like it soaked up all the juice off the plate. I would maybe grill the bun for a couple minutes to sear in the surface so it keeps the juices from soaking up the juice. The soup was fantastic though. Server was good."

"West did not seem too busy, and our party of 5 ordered drinks and appys, and everything seemed normal. However, when the mains rolled in, one order was absent, and it took about 20 mins to appear. it seemed unfortunate, but our group took it in stride. The Manager at West however, knew they shoul dhave done better... and came over to our table, apologized, and proceeded to let us know that the whole tab was on the house. Very gracious! Thanks again West."
