"Food good; server tended to disappear and difficult to get ettention; very noisey but great for large noisey ribald groups; you should find a way to have secluded quieter areas for dining; pico de gallo excellent."

"We tried El Sol for the first time this weekend. We had a girls night. My mom, sister an I. This is the first time I have ever eaten in the city. I have always been happier in the suburbs. After our meal on Saturday I will be a city frequent flier!! All of our meals were perfect...minus the rice...it had no flavor, but I am sure that was due to everything else being so flavorful! We went at 4:45p And we're some of the first diners. We had gotten parking all but right in front of the building. The overall experience was great. Very clean. Awesome food. Good sangria. Good service. I can't wait to return!!!"

"Arrived for 12:30 reservation, mostly empty restaurant. Seated at table near door, it was cold, windy there - asked for change, refused 'cause all the others were "4-tops." Loooong wait for server (15 min) despite relatively empty restaurant, servers standing around chatting. Once server arrived, service was prompt and friendly. Drinks: mimosa was expensive and about a thimble-full; bloody Mary, tho requested not spicy, was pretty darn spicy. Meals: one was very nice (omelet); the other was awful -- Mexican "French" toast -- cold, soggy and limp. By this time, the restaurant had started to fill up, so felt reluctant to ask for re-do. All-in-all, kinda disappointing for mom's special day at a place she loves, but doesn't get to very often."

"I enjoyed the broad but not overwhelming menu and enjoyed our meals. Chips and salsa were good--bringing hot sauce to add to the excellent salsa would have been a nice addition. I had never had fish tacos that I liked, so tried the taco option where I could pick 3 different tacos--one was fried fish taco, one a beef taco and one salmon. They were each very good and the variety made it even better. I had the frozen house margarita (least expensive) with salt and it was very good. The service was good but it was Cinco de Mayo so a little busy. Prior visits the service was even better. Servers always very polite and engaging--a nice addition."

"Made a reservation for Cinco de Mayo weekend - it was crowded and lively as expected. The staff seemed a little frazzled, but the food and service were as good as ever! I always get one of their fish taco dishes and they are always delicious!"

"The food was good,. The service was not quite poor but close. The ambience is very good. The margaritas were very good, but for my significant other the wine list was very, very lacking. They do not cater to the wine drinkers."

"This restaurant is outstanding! The food is excellent and the service is prompt. We usually order the Enchiladas Mexicana and get one of each (beef, chicken, & cheese). It's delicious every time. They offer many good specials, as well - and a lot of fish dishes. If you are looking for real Mexican food (and not Taco Bell), this is the place. Not expensive, either."

"This was our first time at El Sol even though we've heard about it for years. The service was great and the menu was definitely several steps above the typical Mexican restaurant fare. They offer an extensive and unique cocktail list. All the drinks our group had were very good.
The menus was also unique and offered something for everyone. The fish tacos were wonderful.
We did not have dessert but they sounded delicious!
We definitely plan to go back."

"I checked off Romantic-- but wanted to comment on that. The decor & ambiance was condusive to a romantic atmosphere, however, we were there on a Friday night and it was very crowded, and changed the atmosphere somewhat. Not in a bad way - a more "energetic, fun" way! Would certainly recommend El Sol, and will certainly return!"

"As always, a fun night at El Sol. Staff responded perfectly to specific seating request provided through Open Table. We wanted romance and a two hour experience and we got it! Menu is the most fun in town -- full of experiments -- shared appetizers and meals for two. Definitely my place to eat with a date whenever there is a downtown event."

"The reason I picked El Sol was for its proximity to the train station, but the reason I will return, is because of the quality. Service was prompt and attentive. The food was tasty and fresh. While we read the extensive menu, my husband and I enjoyed the house margaritas, which are generous and potent, and the guacamole, which was very fresh and served with delicious corn chips and salsa. I had the chicken mole, which was very good. I am not a fan of spicy food, so this dish was great. My husband enjoyed his tres amigos, and we both loved the mango cake for dessert. The bar is partitioned off from the dining area, but the noise from there carries, so don't expect a quiet evening if you go. We will go again, I want to try more menu items."

"This was a first trip. I was not thrillled about service. We were not greeted in a very friendly manor. It took 10min for someone to come to our table. Waiter said he was confused on what tables he had. We ended up being late for a concert we were planning on going to."

"An excellent place to dine. We took friends there before walking over to the Harrisburg Symphony concert and it made for a wonderful evening. The new specials are a great addition their outstanding menu. This is authentic Mexican... the spices flavor nicely without overpowering your taste buds."

"It had been awhile since we had dined at El Sol. We're not sure why- we had great food and service. We actually were given a 20% off coupon, so will be returning within the month before it expires!"

"This was our third time visiting El Sol, and our best experience yet. The food was fantastic. We had the Ceviche Trio appetizer, which was excellent. For our entrees, we had the Filet Medallion Fajitas and the Molcajete de Mariscos, both of which were amazing!!! The sangria and my jalapeno margarita were also great. The service was top-notch. The only bad thing that I can say is that they did not have the chocolate bundt cake, which we very much wanted for dessert."

"Good but not great. They still had Valentine's Day menu which was nice. We ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp and scallops which were OK. I had the habenero chicken which the waiter warned me would be spicy but I must have numbed my tongue because it didn't seem spicy to me. It was a large portion and I boxed half of it for later. When I did warm it up two days later I liked it much more because then it had a little bite.
Waiter was good, food was slow but good. I'll be back."

"El Sol's Enchiladas are out of this world! I get the dish that has one of each (chicken, beef, and cheese). The food is authentic and you will not find better Mexican-prepared dishes anywhere!"
