"I generally go to Oya for lunch and I usually have the $22 prix fixe menu. The seven-pepper tuna roll was wonderful, as was the trio of ice creams for dessert. I had orange steak as my main course, which I have had before. The ramen noodles and the aspaeagus were terrific, but uncharacteristically, the steak was a bit tough. Service is always exceptional. You can't bear the decor."

"Second time to Oya. Food - mostly sushi and chicken salad quite tasty; Service was prompt and pleasant. Place very hopping as it was Friday evening. Way too noisy for my taste as even seated in a booth in the back it was hard to hear what my companions were saying. I just don't get the appeal of yellling to be heard over dinner - which is the case in many many DC restaurants.

"Family graduation dinner. Beautiful ambience suited for all ages; ooh and aahed at the fireplace, waterfall and overall ambience. Service was attentive yet not intrusive. Delicious food; Asian-influenced sushi rolls and salads. Each member of our group ordered an entree and side. We were all very happy with the presentation and taste. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion. We have been here multiple times, and each visit surpasses the last!"

"Was in DC on business and looked for some place for a nice dinner for one. Found a number of recommendtions fo Oya. Went about 7pm on a Tuesday evening. The place was full of energetic well dressed people. Service was excellent and a number of fun original things on the menu. The food was good. Enjoyed the experience. Would recommend this place and would go again."

"The decor is straight out of 1979, or out of Vegas. The noise and the chairs, sofa seats were kind of off-putting for what my wife and I had intended to be a romantic anniversary dinner. Some of the food was quite good, but some just average. I was surprised, frankly, at how mediocre the calamari were. The hamachi nigiri was excellent, however. If I go back, I would probably stick with the sushi, and with small plates."

"Incredibly gorgeous ambiance. This place looks like a million bucks, very luxurious and romantic with a waterfall and long fireplace. The food is delicious. I did the prefix dinner with the sushi options. My favorite was the tempura tuna. The service was fantastic. Plates were cleared immediately after we were finished and each course was delivered right when the previous plates were cleared. Best of all, their menu is affordable and customizable. You could go more expensive (big plates, prefix meal) or just stick to the special sushi rolls which are typical DC prices ($10-13/roll).
Overall an incredible dining experience. I can't wait to go back to Oya!"

"Do not order the curried spinach or the short rib wellington. If you are looking to eat sushi, the soft shell crab and the eel are amazing. Also, the sticky ribs and the steak skewers are good. The wine was bland (riesling). The atmosphere was awesome. I would recommend sitting at the bar and ordering appetizers/drinks vs dining in (being seated)."

"Oya has a Vegas like interior, with loud music and a hipster vibe, very Un-DC. If that doesn't fit your style, there are plenty of other places. However, it is worth a try as the sushi is outstanding and overall the food is very good. Also, our server, Sean, had a good understanding of the wine list and gave us an excellent recommendation."

"The $36 prix fixe menu is a good deal, but I don't think it would be worth just ordering the pricey entrees. Some of the appetizers need work - the calamari was not fresh and my friend did not like the crispy tofu. The salmon entree was quite good and cooked just right. The desserts were good but are most likely not made in house. The cocktails are hit or miss and the prices are on the high end."

"our server was just right. i think her name was Yuko. She made good menu suggestions. The food came to the table just at the right time. She was there enough, not too much. It is nice to see a server who treats her support staff kindly and we could see that they like working with her.

"We enjoyed dining at Oya from the moment we entered the restaurant. The decor is striking with marble as the predominant theme. The service was attentive without making us feel rushed. Both our appetizers and entries were beautifully presented and were delicious. The noise level was a little high but not enough to make conversation difficult. "Although my reservation was for 7pm and that was clearly marked on my e-mail from the restaurant as well as left on my voice mail by Oya staff, and I confirmed this with staff by phone-- when we arrived the reception staff sniffed hautily at me and told me my reservation was for 8 pm. When I offered (calmly) to let the gentleman listen to the voice mail message stating my reservation was for 7 he refused, but made me feel like a peasant that didn't know how to act in the big city. This is not my first visit to Oya which I can recommend for the great atmosphere, good food and service and excellent wine list, but it was the first time I felt that had such a chilly reception. A little warmth at the front door please!"

"I have nothing but great things to say and share about this place. I have been to OYA many times before and I must say, every time the food and service has very good and consistent. They offer up a full and prix fixe menu. The prix fixe menu is a great deal for three course at roughly $36 for dinner. You can't be that!! It was late and I was starving....so I kept it simple and order from the prix fixe menu : Crunchy Spicy Shrimp Roll, Kobe Beef Burger and the Chocolate Molten cake for the dessert. My friend ordered the: Calamari Salad, Atlantic Salmon with Chinese garlic green beans, and carrot cake! "ERRRY THANG".... WAS GOOD!! Get out and enjoy this place...it's all inclusive to make a good night or day happen!"

"I had dinner at Oya for my birthday. As part of my celebration, I had a different wine with each course. The wines were all amazing and paired perfectly each dish. My absolute favorite wine was the one I had for dessert. It tasted just like chocolate. I was very pleased to see that the restaurant included local wines in their vast selection. If Oya's sommelier decides to offer classes, I would be the first one to sign up. It is very rare for me to dine at a restaurant and truly love every glass of wine. This was a first. The meal itself was excellent and the service was simply delightful. I'll be back again soon!"

"Oya is a neighborhood lunch spot that works well. it is reasonably priced, the wait staff is always exceptional, and the food choices are varied and always consistently appreciated. I have been for dinner once, and enjoyed it greatly, but it is a great business spot for lunch."

"This is the fifth time I have been to Oya. The space is breathtaking and is the perfect way to wow friends. The food and the cocktails are creative and delicious. As a vegetarian who loves dressing up and drinking martinis, this place is a wonderful treat. The staff is very friendly."

"We went to Oya for a special lunch celebration. We took advantage of their great price fixe lunch menu, and all of us were very happy with our meals. The variety on the pix fixe menu is great and everything was very well-prepared. We will definitely be back."

"The sushi was fantastic, as was the ambiance. We were seated immediately upon arrival, and the restaurant is gorgeous. The food came out lightning-fast.
The lobster mac and cheese, however, was odd, as was the birthday treat they brought out for my friend (it's quite fantastic that they do that, but it wasn't great). Also, our waiter disappeared a few times.
Overall, a great place if you stick with the sushi and order everything you're going to need from your waiter right off the bat."

"Trendy spot with great food. Smaller portions focused on lots of great flavor and variety. If you are looking for golden corral this is not it. Think Vegas vibe lots of white leather and sparkle with an Asian flair. Great for couples date night or break from the norm for lunch. Lots of value on the pre fix menu. Dinner for two less than 100 and lunch for under 50. Hip spot pretty people awesome food."

"I decided to try out Oya after purchasing their Living Social Deal. The restaurant is beautiful and thoughtfully decorated. However, they forgot to take acoustics into account! The mirrors on the walls are slanted and the wall tiles are marble causing the sound waves to bounce all over. The food was excellent. I had the BBQ ribs and my friend had the grilled tenderloin. The drinks are very pricy, $12 for a pear sangria which I thought was ordinary except for the slight pear flavoring. The chairs are also way to close to each other, so the wait staff kept bumping into me. I would return, but would choose a less busy night to dine."

"Oya has a very modern, white, elegant, and beautiful atmosphere. The servers were young, the audience was predominately people dressed to impress in their 20's and 30's. Interesting cocktails in the $10 range. For dinner, husband thought the salmon was one of the freshest and best he had. I had the steak which was good but not the best I have had. The seasonings seemed basic or very understated, no complex layered flavors. The molten chocolate cake was small (get 1 per person) but excellent with the vanilla ice cream. Oya is a beautiful restaurant but the noise level was one of the loudest I have heard. Great place to impress a date but you will have to talk loudly."

"Our party of 3 thoroughly enjoyed our meals and cocktails. The cocktails represented mixology at its best. We all ordered the prix fixe menu. Two of us had the salmon entree which was perfectly cooked. My husband had the tenderloin where nary a morsel was left. We would definitely consider returning here again. The service was also exceptional for this type of restaurant."

"I tried this restaurant for the first time and will definite be back. The staff was extremely professional and friendly; excellent service. The food was prepare in a timely manner and everything was prepared to my liking. The restaurant is in a wonderful location near Verizon Center making it easy to grab some tasty food and be within walking distance to catch a concert or show."
