La Plazuela was the hotel’s original 1920s patio and it retains that sunlit Old World charm. Skylights flood the dining room with natural light and handsome carved furnishings, artisanal lighting, and our much-loved hand painted windows create a beautiful, inviting room to gather, to dine and to make memories in. The menu was crafted to showcase old favorites with New World influences and authentic New Mexican cuisine, and our award-winning wine list is exceptional. La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza is Santa Fe’s gathering place. Come dine with us!
"My Husband and I celebrated our Anniversary there, and it was incredible. The food was delicious! I recommend the Pork Carnitas Appetizer, and my husbands Barrel Cut Pork was incredible. The best part of the evening was our server Stormi, she was just perfect. Informative, great recommendations, and just pleasant. Ask for her if you can."

"Menu allows good choices of New Mexican and fine dining. Wine list and pricing is quite good. Our server was very attentive and helpful. A happy disposition. The four of us had different items and they were all great. The dining room speaks to the history of La Fonda and is a must place to visit."

"We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating our birthday dinners on Monday night! We were surprised at the number of people there on a Monday night, but service was very good regardless. The high ceilings, cheerfully painted glass windows makes for very pleasant surroundings without having views. The food was delicious and the presentation lovely! We have been to La Plazulea in the past and will continue our patronage."

"The fountain setting inside the La Fonda complex is lovely. The hand-painted windowpanes surrounding the room add a colorful touch. Try to get a seat near the fountain at the center of the room.
Food was nice, but not particularly impressive. Tasty tortilla soup. A well-prepared salmon. Nice service."

"It was great being back at LaFonda again. We were last there in 1990 and it was so memorable that we had to come back again. Fantastic atmosphere, superior food and service. Absolutely lovely place to dine and relax. We'll be back again, as it is always a highlight of our trips to Santa Fe."

"La Fonda is a great place to done...if you are over the age of 65. We were by far some of the youngest patrons and we are in our late 30s. The food was good, so that helped. Our waiter was shy and we had to drag recommendations out of him. Our drink order didn't arrive until we were nearly finished with the salad. There must be a hip spot in Santa Fe, but this is not it."

Review 10 for La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza
"Everything was outstanding except for one aspect. My wife had the chile rellenos and they were a little bland. Since one cannot sample each and every chile this is beyond the chefs control. However, the breading on the chiles was found in one big clump under the chile sauce rather than around the relleno itself. The crab cakes were fantastic and the butternut squash bisque was even better. I had the filet y enchiladas which was excellent. The accompanying pasole was one of the best I've had. We finished with the flan which was also excellent. As for service, Angel was a perfect gentleman and couldn't have been more professional."

Review 15 for La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza
"A classy, historic old hotel restaurant that delivers very good Mexican food in a very nice room, directly off the Plaza. Nothing spectacular or TV show worthy, just basic Mexican fare done well. We were looking forward to the table-side guacamole, but they forgot... the house margarita tasted like plastic, the special $$ marg was excellent."

Review 17 for La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza
"Overall the food was good but nothing outstanding. I had the tortilla soup very tasty, the prime rib was OK, the molten chocolate cake which my husband and I shared was excellent-not too dense."

Review 18 for La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza
"OK experience, but--considering the pricing-- it's not the tastiest food in Santa Fe. Being invited to my table by my first name was a clue. The medium rare steak was over-cooked. The wait staff were friendly and the environment is pleasant."

Review 23 for La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza
"Had to wait 15 minutes for the people to vacate the table reserved for us. I would have expected to be seated at a bigger table as the restaurant wasn't crowded. Although the waitress was very pleasant the salad ( 1st thing to arrive at our table) came with dressing on it while I asked for it on the side. Then I had to send it back. We waited 10 minutes for a new salad and then had to ask for ground pepper ( a given for salads in a better restaurant). The fajita was very good as was the black raspberry chocolate chip gelato."

Review 24 for La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza
"La Plazuela offers both Southwestern favorites as well as some nice gourmet selections, so it's sure to please all palates. We chose the fajitas prepared for two and enjoyed it immensely. The tableside guacamole was some of the best I've ever had and the posole accompanying the fajitas was outstanding."

Review 25 for La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza
"The setting is nice. There is a pretty fountain in the middle of the dining area which creates an ambient sound that drowns out the talking of other diners. The food is attractively presented, but it is secondary to the restaurant setting."

Review 26 for La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza
"The place was nearly empty and as a result the service was great. It had a good wine list. The entrees were good. The polenta with manchego was GREAT! The Caesar salad was awful. The flan so-so."

Review 27 for La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza
"Very famous and historic Santa Fe hotel. Nrecently remodeled dining room which maintains the charm of the restaurant, which is right off the hotel lobby. Interesting menu, food attractively presented. Service was slow. The waiter could have been more attentive, especially so because there were few dinners at the early hour of our reservation, but he was very nice. It's a great take in for any visitor to Santa Fe."

Review 28 for La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza
"We are from Colorado and once a year we visit Santa Fe with a group of friends. One of the main reasons for the trip is the great selection of outstanding restaurants. La Plazuela is ALWAYS on our must visit list. The dining room is charming, with small window panels painted by local artists. Our group of 5 ordered 5 different entres and all were wonderful. The tableside prepared guacomole is always a must, of course."

"I am a local and have never tried this restaurant always writing it off as a hotel place. I am glad I tried it as it was much better than expected. Everything was great for the price. From a drink to the fresh guacamole made at the table to entrees."

Review 33 for La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza
"Situated in the La Fonda Hotel, the La Plazuela restaurant proved to be an excellent dining choice during a recent short stay in Santa Fe. We've visited the famous Bell Tower at the La Fonda during a summer trip, so we knew that the hotel offered a very charming and historic setting. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service in the La Plazuela. The menu offered a more-than-adequate choice of American and Southwestern dishes. The setting in an old, now enclosed, courtyard next to the fountain was very romantic: just the right amount of light and not too noisy. We selected from a very good wine list. The service couldn't have been better. Our Southwestern dinner choices were perfectly prepared. We will go back."
