"One of the best dining experiences I recently had in the city. From the moment, we pulled into the valet stand the hospitality of the staff blew me away. Our server was incredibly helpful in menu selections and the manager stopped by the table to check on us several times and wish my mom a happy birthday. For a shared plate concept, the server and kitchen staff timed out the plates perfectly in the right sequence to create the perfect dining experience! Ordered...bacon wrapped dates, spaghetti squash salad, mushroom risotto (on special), braised short ribs, chicken & waffles and dark chocolate soufflé."

"Loved the ambiance of Sable. It was clear to see that the entire staff has a passion for quality service and attention to detail. Even at 9:45 on a Friday night, everyone was cool and collected, despite being busy. Our server, Larry, gave us plenty of time to choose from the extensive cocktail and dinner menus, while offering great suggestions. If you're looking for a true dining experience, Sable is a great choice. Notable favorites were the cheese board (6 cheeses along with fruit, crackers, and nuts) and dessert (Banana Cream Tart)."

"Sable NEVER disappoints! The cocktails are numerous and inventive. If you are overwhelmed by the drink menu, just ask one of the mixologists to recommend something to your tastes. As for the food, do yourself a favor, order numerous small plates so that you can try more items. And let your server be your guide for what is awesome and what is amazing. Angela took great care with us, and made our celebration memorable."

"Absolutely one of the best dining expierences I've had. The menu is so unique, it compares to nothing else. The 1/2 portion aspect and the sharing aspect make the whole dining expierence VERY special. The drink menu is also fantastic. Things you've never heard of or tried before.
NOTE: VERY different places between the bar in the front, and the tables in the back. The bar is hip, fun, crowded, but lout. If you want quite and conversation, be sure and sit in the back at the tables."

"Sable is one of my favorite restaurants. I also love staying at the adjoining Palomar Hotel. The servers, front desk staff, and especially the bartenders are some of the most friendly people you could meet at a restaurant. The chicken and waffles, truffle deviled eggs, blueberry pancakes and selection of creative omelettes puts this brunch/lunch menu above the rest.
Mike Ryan and Alex Renshaw are brilliant mixologists with hundreds of new, fun, and creative recipies in their heads. Be sure to stop into the adjoining Sable Bar to experience their expertise."

"My wife and I went for mother's day brunch and were very pleased. We've never been here before and I would highly recommend it. They have an option on their menu to order a small plate or a large plate which (as they suggested) gave us the opportunity to try a few small plates and share them. Chicken & Waffles was perfect, Shrimp and Grits was a flavor and texture masterpiece and the pork belly sliders were tender and succulent. We had mentioned in our open table reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary as well and the chef made a point to come to our table and personally greet us. The entire staff was very down to earth and friendly. Everyone there went out of their way to assure we had a good experience. I highly recommend it!"

The small plates actually had much more generous portions than I was used to from this type of format, so that the two of us ended up with more food than we expected. "Sable is one of our favorite restaurants. We have enjoyed many fantastic meals and evenings in the restaurant and bar since it opened. We recently dined there for brunch on a Saturday and were disappointed with the service. It was extremely slow and our server seemed to be covering the entire restaurant. This happened to us on at least one other occasion when we were there for lunch in the past few months. The evening service always feels flawless. It's like a different restaurant at lunch/brunch. Our server was working hard, but was with other tables or off the floor for large gaps of time. Bus service was excellent, but more servers are needed. The lack of attention negatively affected our experience."

"Read Open Table reviews...out of ALL the choices...I picked Sable...WRONG!...Food was interesting and very good!...but the premise os sharing plates in a restaurant with a noise level that was just a little more quiet than a live music venue...made it very difficult to chat with my husband who sat just across the table from me...service was great to start!...then she just forgot about us...if you are in the mood for a memorable evening with professional ambiance...professional service and better food!...go across the street to Benny's...they were truly happy to have us there and did EVERYTHING they could to make our evening truly special for my husband and I !!!"

"Went with my sister, who was visiting from out of town, on a Friday night. Our server, whose name escapes me at the moment, was fantastic. I have Celiac disease, so it's important to me that the people I speak to in a restaurant seem aware and knowledgeable of gluten containing items on their menu. Our server went over the entire menu with me, pointing out what I absolutely couldn't have and what could be modified. The small plates option makes it easy to order several items to share. We had kale chips, the cheese board, the crazy-good sweet corn creme brûlée, short rib sliders, South Indian vegetable curry and strip steak. One small note, the menu differs slightly from the version online, several items I wanted to try were not available."

"I love the concept for brunch that Sable is trying to promote. However, they tended to be too inflexible when it came to everyone at the table getting their food at the same time. The food itself also needs tweeking. I had the chicken and waffles with bourbon butter and syrup. The chicken was over salted and the waffles, although cute, where soggy from the syrup upon arrival. Get the syrup on the side. Also, all the bourbon did was sour the syrup. There was no real bourbon flavor. The gravlox was tasty but really over seasoned - really salty and the bread was hard to eat. Dinner is probably better."

"My date and I really enjoyed the cheese platter and the chicken poutine. I had duck sausage. It was not great. Dry and overcooked, while the sweet potato casserole beneath it was VERY oily, possibly that's where all the oil from the duck sausage went. Their sticky toffee pudding was soooooo good, altough could have done with an extra dollop of the delicious Whisky ice cream. The restaurant was nicely decorated, although it could have used more noise-absorbing materials--it was VERY loud. Not that big a place, but my date and I kept having to repeat what we said and the women at the next table were yelling to be heard. Our waitress forgot a few things, but her cheerful helpfulness made up for it."

"Thankfully we arrived a few minutes late for our reservation because we had to wait about 25 minutes for our table. The hostess was very apologetic and found us a table at the bar immediately. "This is a truly great place to dine. We had travel delays, and had to change our reservation several times, and each time, they were understanding and accommodating. The bartenders made great drinks, and the food was delicious. Really liked that there were 2 sizes of each plate on the menu. This gives you the opportunity to try many different items. We had the bacon wrapped dates, short-rib sliders, and chicken and waffles. All were excellent! We will go back next time we're in Chicago!"

"Really interesting menu and great small plates to share. My friend was doing a cleanse at the time so we didn't get to explore the amazing-looking cocktail menu unfortunately. Nice environment and everything was great, except the service. Our server was friendly and helpful, but there were huge gaps in service and very long waits in between the small plates. I would go again though."

"Sable is hands down my favorite restaurant in the city. I think the reason it is so outstanding is because it has balance. It's trendy without being pretentious, nice without being stuffy, and delicious without being intimidating when it comes to food. The service is always the perfect balance of attentive without being intrusive, too, which I especially appreciate. I took my mom and my sister here for a night out in the city and they were blow away. And the food itself is to die for, but the overall experience is what makes me come back again and again. Thank you, Sable, for an amazing evening, as always."

The wine list was extrardinary, with plenty of affordable, excellent wines. Our food was over the top. "I've been to Sable a few times after work for drinks with friends but this was the first time I tried their brunch. But I want to give a huge compliment on the service we received: we arrived 45 minutes before our reservation to a packed house. The staff did a wonderful job quickly finding us a comfortable table.

"Attentive service and a birthday bonus made this an enjoyable night for me and a friend. From the hostess to the servers to the waitstaff, everything was smooth and seamless. The server offered helpful suggestions and was very knowledgable about the drink menu. The wine recommendation was spot on and the food was amazing. They have 1/2 and full portions for most dishes, so even a twosome can try several. The poutine and pork belly were my personal favorites."

"Excellent Sunday Brunch. Went there based on other reviews and was NOT dissappointed. The Baked goods, ie: sticky bun and monkey bread were sinfully delicious. The jelly donuts were heavenly. Ordered a few of the "smaller" portions of entrees: the shrimp and grits, corn tamale and smoked salmon....ALL were fabulous. Great service, great decor. "So good! The food, drinks, and service at brunch were all so good. I do wish the waiter had warned us we were ordering too much food but that's my only complaint. He did a great job of pointing us to a good cocktail selection. That's important because the drink list is quite long and lists many ingredients that were unfamiliar to me. Food was good to very good. Started with the scones with the savory bacon jelly. They were wonderful. I had a half order of the tamale and a half of the brown rice/vegetables/egg dish. My friend ordered a full serving of the chicken and waffles that turned out to be four waffles each with a fried chicken breast on top. My favorite - the brown rice dish. Left quite full and definitely will return."
