Experience the romance of France in Chicago. The taste and feel of Paris is right here in the Gold Coast, one of Chicago’s oldest and most beautiful neighborhoods.
The name Bistrot Zinc is derived from typical French bistrots where the “zinc” bar is a popular meeting place for good food, conversation and camaraderie.
Moderately-priced classic & contemporary French food is served amid the ambiance of tile floors, tin ceilings, and the beautifully handcrafted zinc bar. The feeling of French authenticity prevails throughout as you step into this lively Parisian atmosphere.
The lunch, brunch and dinner menus include many French favorites in addition to the monthly specials. Also offered is an extensive selection of French wines by the bottle and glass, plus French aperitifs and liqueurs.

"We chose this place to celebrate Father's Day (None of us are Father's and none of us have kids but we have dogs so we figured that counted in some small way!). Brunch was the order of the day.
We had never been to Bistro Zinc. Always drove/walked past it but never had stopped. But we thought being in the Viagra Triangle would be a good way to spend a Sunday Afternoon.....and we were not disappointed.....by either the ambiance or the quality of the food. Great find. Brunch was fantastic. We will definitely be back to try lunch and dinner."

"They also will help me pick gluten free from the menu. And had a delicious chocolate cake I could eat and 2 other choices. Unfortunately, the chef puts bread crumbs in the escargot with garlic and butter which means I could not eat it! All six of us liked what we got and we all chose different items!"

"This is a really great bistro that has been around for a long time, with a great reputation. Everything is as it should be: food very good and consistent , service always warm and knowledgeable, management is always present and walking around. I love the interior, and when the windows are open it's awesome. The owner is funny and warm and she plays really great music."

"In the crazy, pulsing Rush Street restaurant scene, Bistro Zinc is a little oasis. I come to Chicago often for business and always eat here. it's a quiet but interesting typical little French bistro, and is great for groups as well as for dining alone. The menu ranges from conventional bistro food to dishes with creative touches. Love this place."

"The restaurant was nice but the food was not great. After reading some of the other reviews I was expecting more. The chicken I ordered was served in a flavorless sauce. The mussels we had for an appetizer had a strange taste about them. The others in my group seemed to enjoy their meals however I was disappointed. The dessert was definitely the best thing about the entire dinner."

"We had a wonderful dinner here last Saturday night. They were prompt on our reservation time - our table was ready when we arrived. It was busy, but we had attentive service and were served very quickly. In fact, I suggest taking your time ordering in order to slow down and enjoy your meal. The escargot was fantastic - one of the best I've ever had. We also shared the special beef short ribs and both got a different crepe for our main entree. All the food was fresh and prepared perfectly. We were too full to share dessert. The only drawback was our waiter never officially introduced himself to us, but it didn't matter because he was attentive and thorough. We'll be back for more escargot!!!"

"SO GOOD! Can't believe I have never been, but I plan to return many times! Had the Veggie Moroccan couscous, and it was amazing in flavor and portion size! Ordered the grilled asparagus as a side as well, and it was more than plenty to share with 2-3 ppl. My friend ate the salmom (special entree) and she loved it as well. The service was exceptional and ambiance was pleasant. Great for a Friday night dinner out!"

"A pleasant suprise in the Rush Street area. Very good French Bistro fare. Went with a business partner, who is French, even he liked it! Really nice not to deal with the attittude at the front desk, which is now so common in this city's dining scene. If you just want good food, a nice, and reasonably priced selection of wines, and friendly place to enjoy the evening, this is your spot."

"Our server was amazing. He was genuine, personable, and knowledgeable. He steered me toward tasty cocktails and later helped me decide on a dessert. We got the soup (potato soup with haricots verts that was spectacular) and dunk confit for appetizers and both really hit the spot. For our entrees we got mussels and chev salad. My salad was delicious but the mussels and fries were not so good. They seemed to be low quality and over cooked. The fries were nothing special - not even seasoned. We got chocolate mousse and almond cake for dessert. Both were delicious. Nothing really set Bistrot Zinc apart from Bistrot Margot except for the service. We need to visit B.Z. more to decide."

"cordial & professional maitre'd, smoothly accomodated our change from 8 to 10 people. Waiter was harried, stressed, no drinks menu offered, he had only fundamental knowledge of basic cocktails & what bourbons were available from the bar. Food was good for a bistro, but not memorable or worth a return visit. Prices were fair for the value & their ability to seat 10 was a plus."

"A special friend was in town for the weekend and we wanted someplace elegant, quiet and quaint for our last night together. We set up the reservation 15 minutes before we arrived and were promptly seated. My date commented how nice it was and how it reminded him of the restaurants in Paris. My veal stew was amazing...so much so that my date ate half of it! I don't know why I've waited so long to try this neighborhood gem."

"We felt like we were in the countryside of France. This place is a gem. Service excellent. Our server took his time to make great recommendations on food and wine and gave us space to enjoy our time there without ever feeling rushed. Duck pate, mussels, eggs benedict and omelette all delicious and the French bread is outstanding. Ambiance and decor warm and inviting."
