"There were 3 in our party, my friend had the eggs benedict and commented, they were the best she has had, I had the frittata, the blend of vegetables and cheese used was excellent. My husband had the corn beef hash plate and was equally pleased with his meal. The service was also great, never had an empty cup of coffee. Three happy customers and the price was very reasonable for our meal. Sitting on the patio with the waterfall just made the whole experience very nice. We will definitely return."

"We waited 25 minutes to order then another 1:15 to get our food. Not once did a manager come to talk to us. When I asked our server what was taking so long, he said they were a little backed up. No appologies, no can I get you a drink nothing. This was a huge disappointment."

"Went to Basils to celebrate a college graduation. It was difficult to enjoy the dinner due to a large group of about 30 extremely noisy high schoolers who were there for Prom night. It totally ruined the atmosphere. I'd suggest future groups like this be placed all in 1 room, so other diners can enjoy their dinner."

"We brought our moms here for Mothers Day. We thought we would be enjoying the 50th floor of the IDS but our reservation was changed to Basils on the third floor. The service was just terrible. We were not told that an entree would be ordered from the menu in addition to the buffet, had to beg for coffee refills, weren't asked how we'd like the meat prepared so it came cooked not to our preference....wouldn't go back."

"The food was far better than a typical buffet style brunch. Gormet everything from salads to cheese and baked goods. Also loved the prepared entrée selections. Only wished i could have picked two. Great service, was greeted by the chef and manager, everything about it was fantastic and a perfect way to celebrate Mother's Day."

"Nothing good to say about our visit on Mother's Day. I had to ask a manager on duty if anyone was assinged to our table, after that meeting still no one came. Food was cold and sent back long wait and it was cold again. A manager came by to say that is the way this meal is cooked. After that incounter we left."

"I really enjoyed a pleasant Mother's Day Brunch with my wife and daughter this year at Basil's. I requested a patio table overlooking the IDS coutyard in my reservation, and I had a lovely view of the waterfall. The reservation through Open Table was easy, and I received communication from the restaurant confirming my reservation. The brunch featured an omelette bar, salad and fruit bar, a dessert bar, and a primary entree from the menu. Complimentary champagne or Mimosas were also included. Food quality was excellent, and service was top notch. Although not cheap, it was a wonderful special occasion meal that was a hit with my family. I'll go again next year, and recommend it to others looking for a classy venue for Mother's Day."

"We expected something a little nicer. Our server was more what I would expect at TGIF. She was unfamiliar with the menu and actually misinformed us as to one of the items. My med-rare steak was well done the first time. The new one was better but had no flavor other than a lot of pepper."

"It was a great experience for us at Basil's...we really enjoyed the ambience atmosphere. It was our first time and we used our social living voucher. Quite romantic. The waiter was Ok. The food presentation was amazing. My bf ordered the steak, he loved it! I had the pork chop, taste ok, it was a pretty display, however, my chop's was at the tip of being overcooked. Our voucher offered wine which gave us one brand of wine, but in three flavors. We also ordered the lamb cannel...As our choice of appetiZer, and that tasted wonderful.
Don't park at the hotel, the parking is $20/day and $30/day using the valet service. We park in a nearby ramp and it costed us $6/day. We walked less than five minutes to our destination."

"The service was slow from the start. We had to wait a few minutes to have someone even recognize we were even there. Then once we were seated, long wait before some came to take drink orders. Then way to long in between courses as far as time was concerned. Our main course was cold. Very disappointed for the price value of the restaurant."

"We visited because of a discount voucher, and quite dissapointed. The host greeted us warmly. She told us that if we had parked in the hotel's parking, they could validate. We had parked in a nearby ramp that was advertised as less expensive since this information was not on the restaurant's website.
We enjoyed our starter (lamb canneloni); it was the best part of our meal. Our salads were good, as was my steak and our dessert. My husband's pork chop was dry and tough. He couldn't finish it. Service left much to be desired: our second round of drinks arrived when we were nearly done with our entrees, and our server was unprofessional compared to others at similar establishments."

"This is a lovely spot right downtown that overlooks the Crystal Court in the IDS Tower. We dined using a Living Social coupon which was a great deal because the prices otherwise seem quite high for what you get. Our server was great and the food was very good. Our steaks were the best we have had out in some time and the presentation was interesting as well. However, the pace of the meal was so slow it was a once and done experience for us. They were not even very busy when we were there. Unless you have lots of time and like a very drawn out dinner, don't go to Basil 's. There are plenty of other spots in the Twin Cities where you can get a good steak."

"We had the prix fixe menu, and most of the food was fantastic. The seared tuna small plate was prepared perfectly, and had a great sauce for dipping. The beet salad was refreshing and delicious. My companion's steak au poivre was juicy and flavorful, while my pork chop was slightly dry, albeit tasty. Overall, a great meal!"

"The service was great, the food was great. The only downside came was when it was time to pay the bill. We had a group of 17 and the server didn't ask if we wanted separate checks and when it came time to pay, it was a lot of work and frustration on the server's part. Usually when we go out ot lunch as a big group, the server asks if the checks are separate or together and it hasn't been a problem in the past."

"Basil's served excellent food and the service was great. This restaurant was well prepared for our Living Social coupon and clearly explained what was included. The choices were excellent and I loved that they had a separate menu for people with these offers to make decisions easier. I didn't feel like we were treated any differently. The person serving us was very attentative, knew the food and made suggestions and was very enjoyable. We will come back and would highly recommend Basils."

"Overall very good. Had overcooked pork chop for dinner and server went to replace right away. Took a bit but came back cooked right. Manager even came to check on us. Appreciated that they sought to make things right. Location overlooking IDS courtyard is excellent."

"Although the food was really good, the service was not. We waited 7.5 minutes for the host to show up to seat us, and the restaurant was fairly empty. The lack of service continued with the waitress who was not attentive and disappeared for extended periods of time. We most likely won't go back based on service as we can get great food and great service at many other places."

"Reserved a table on the balconey at Basil's for our 33rd anniversary and were not disappointed. It was a fabulous couple of hours ... a real 4-star experience. My wife and I shared an appetizer (Ahi), enjoyed our own salads (Pear & Beet and Chopped), and loved our entrees (Filet for her and Sea Bass for me). The courses arrived at a leisurely pace as we sipped our house wines and sampled the very tasty bread. The service and personal attention we received from all employees was outstanding! We turned down the dessert offerings, but they looked gorgeous. We will return ... sooner than later."

"Beautiful view of Crystal Court from balcony tables. Service: perfect, right level of attentive, useful recommendations. Food: good, but not outstanding. Beet salad: very few beets, purple ones hard, orange ones mushy, otherwise great composition of ingredients/flavors. Steak au poivre: was discouraged by server for asking for rare, so sure, ordered it medium rare, and darn, it came out medium. Nice presentation though, on top of bed of very flavorful mashed potatoes & perfectly cooked (tender-crisp) asparagus. Tiramsu: charming presentation w cup of espresso on plate(we poured over cake, yum!) but lacking the rum that normally the cake soaks in. Given prices they need to pay more serious attention to details, up the quality."

"The service was great. The appetizer, salads, and entrees were quite good. However, when I got to the last quarter of the Chilean Seabass, it had an ammonia taste and smell. I lost my appetite after that... The head chef, Tim, came to our table and said he would inspect their fish inventory and asked if I like another fish entree. I declined."

"We used a living social coupon for our dinner, and that seemed to be a big turn off for our waitress. It took her about 10 minutes to come back just for our drink order, and by that time we were ready to order our food as well. She also was unable to answer more than basic questions about the menu or give an suggestions. The food itself was wonderful, no complaints at all. Had crab cake appetizer, coconut chicken salad, pear and beet salad with salmon (nice large piece of salmon!), and steak au poivre and the steak and shrimp entrees. All well cooked, good vegetable sides, salads were probably the favorite."

"Basil's has always been a downtown favorite of ours and we were unhappy when it was closed for several months. We were very happy to see it re-opened and that the food and service is up to the same high standard it always had. It's hard to beat great wine and food and be able to overlook the waterfall in the IDS Crystal Court."
