"The food was magnificent - my husband and I haven't enjoyed such a wonderful meal in a very long time. The roasted asparagus and the Tabla Ravioli were specifically spectacular! We came for the Portland Dine Out event, but we became instant lovers of this restaurant. A meal to be enjoyed slowly, with intent on flavor and the experience of the ambiance. We are total fans!"

"Yes, it is Portland Dining month, but I would think a participating restaurant would be prepared for that. We had an 8pm reservation, sat outside (it was rather noisy inside), and we ordered at 8:15. By 9:15 we had not yet received our first course....salads. Then when they did bring them, they brought the wrong order! We were so hungry we almost left, but we stayed and the food was phenomenal when it did arrive. They did apologize with excuses, and offered money off our bill which was nice but I think if they wanted to see us again, it would have been better to offer a gift certificate for the next visit...I am not sure I would go back now which is unfortunate since the food is extremely good."

"Made our way here on a Thursday evening and loved it. Food was great - we had the fish and a pasta dish. We were seated close to the kitchen bar and watched the chef (owner maybe?) prepare the food. It was fascinating. We chatted with him as we were leaving and he couldn't have been nicer and gave us cooking tips."

"I have eaten at Tabla for years. The staff starts the experience out right every time with a sincerely welcoming attitude. Having a wine cellar, I always bring a bottle and the corkage situation is always handled well, not so at every restaurant. In fact the interest the staff shows in the wine makes one want to share. The wait staff seems very savvy, they know how to see the diner's pace and match it. They check back in at appropriate intervals. The food is always well prepared and of very high quality. The pasta is some of the best in Portland."

"We had a delicious 3 course dinner for a fair price. There were many intriguing options and it was difficult to choose. I especially enjoyed the gluten-free pasta. It was the best I have ever eaten and made "in house" with careful attention. This restaurant was a very good neighborhood place with much better than average food."

"Tabla was recommended by a friend and we were not disappointed! The table wine was very good as was the varied and very tasty crostini. The beet and fennel salad delightful and light. The pasta dish was so flavorful yet not heavy. The panda cotta was beyond wonderful. My husband and I will be returning soon!"

"Third time here and consistently everything great. The salads this last time stood out as they are now harvesting from their spring garden. Our kids are somewhat adventurous but do take some winning over and again each time they have enjoyed everything fas we ordered 3 of the three course dinner options so we could try a bit of everything. "I really thought the food here was outstanding -- and the $30 three-course dinner deal turns out to be a huge bargain. I was seated in the large-ish dining area near the kitchen, which is all chrome and gorgeous, and got to watch my food being prepared, and it was prepared as well as at any of the fine dining establishments in this city, with a great amount of care given to both taste and presentation. My server was accomodating and informative without being all up in my face, and I'm quite impressed with the balance she struck. I was made to feel very welcome here, and know I'll be taking friends visiting the city here as a showcase for what Portland has to offer."

"It had been about a year since my wife and I last dined at Tabla, so we did not know if it would still be as good as we remembered. This dinner was on Valentines, yet we were seated right at our reservation time and the waiter was able to attend to us right away. We ordered drinks and an appetizer which came immediately and both were delicious. There were several choices of salads,small plates and entrees , as well as a fixed price dinner option.
We ordered several small plates including crostini, roasted beet and fresh green salads, then a lamb pasta that was very good. We also ordered a crab stuffed pasta dish that was outstanding. I have never tasted a better pasta dish anywhere, including Italy."
