Max Brenner, Chocolate by the Bald Man, the first restaurant entirely devoted to chocolate, provides a “chocolate mood:” a person being surrounded by huge bricks, candles, pralines, colorful toy tins and crates filled with cocoa beans. Each person’s chocolate experience is exclusive to the individual as it brings out different emotions in each and every person. This can be experienced at our retail shop and dining room.
In addition to our unique chocolate, we also offer delicious savory foods. Whether it is our famous Brenner Burger or Mac & Cheese, there will be something for everyone in the group!

"This is our only must visit restaurant in the city. Over the last four years they've added many wonderful menu items. We've eaten here at all times of the day and night, week days and weekends. The food and service is consistently good. The choclate shop has been the source for many great gifts and treats. Now that my daughter has graduated, we won't be coming to the city as regularly. We will be looking for another city with a Max Brenner!"

"I've often wondered about the point of pictures in menus. It's become clear to the consumers that we will not be presented with anything that looks remotely close to the image. The food is where the problem is, As a chocolatier, perhaps Max should stick to just Chocolate... The menu is very limited, what food there is, lacks enjoyability. It's dry, bland, and stale, this includes the dessert. Going here is like going to a limited Applebee's with even high prices. It's not even worth the desserts.
If your goal is to bring a date here with the hopes of getting intimate afterwards, put the prophylactic back in the wallet, it wont happen.
Google "Top 5 Romantic Restaurants in NYC", you'll spend a bit more, but will def get your moneys worth."

"Went to Max Brenner's with my mother, who lives out in the 'burbs. I thought she would like Max Brenner's uniqueness - like I do. She loved it! The food was deeeelish and she absolutely loved her chocolate Martini. My only issue was were we were seated. We were crammed into a corner between two waiter stations and found ourselves shouting over crashing dishes or their conversations. It was busy - I mean, it is always busy at MB's - so it took awhile for us to get the check. We weren't in a rush and in the end, it was about the experience, so that overrides any minor irritation I may have felt for 5 minutes of our 90 minute brunch. Wonderful time, wonderful food, wonderful waitress! Will be back, for sure."

"Decent sandwiches, the waffle sandwiches they featured were fun. Service was unacceptably slow and waiters were frequently seen standing around, even drink refills were hard to get. Good for chocolate lovers, but don't expect to get out of there quickly."

"So I have to 1st start off with how freakin great the food is!! Jeez baby!!! The drinks are amazing!!! And lets not even talk about how perfect the desserts are!!! I love coming here, the staff is friendly but the food really does speak for itself! Make sure to make reservations so you don't have to deal with line or all the people crowding the hostess!"

"Now that this caught your eye, Max Brenner is quite the lovely restaurant. I came mostly for the infamous dessert, but was pleasantly surprised to be waited on by the most nicest waitors/waitresses I've every experienced. And the entrees were very good too! And of course, their dessert did not fail my expectations. But it is very very busy and packed, so the noise level is high. And I recommend that you make online reservations so you can get a seat, seriously their the best things ever, I didn't have to wait 5 seconds."

"I think it's very important to make reservations to this restaurant because it's always busy. It's better to be safe than sorry!
When I arrived at Max Brenner, the hostess greeted me with hospitality. The waitress was great too. He checked up on us to see if everything was okay, if we wanted anything else to eat or drink. He paid attention to us.

"I finally found a free day and an excuse to come here. It lives up to it's "sweet" reputation. The food was fantastic, the waitress was a doll! My s'mores dessert was pleasant to the eye as it was to my palette. My sweet tooth was very happy! I hope I can make there again very soon so I can shop the store and try another wonderful meal. "We went there for a Sunday brunch on Mother's Day and we had a great time. I accidentally made my reservation at the wrong time but when we got there, they accommodated us right away without any hassle. The place was vibrant and staffs were all very friendly.
The food and shakes were all great. The burger was surprisingly delicious. My wife felt little guilty after all the carbs and sugar but I think it was worth it. We will definitely go back again."

"I noticed Max Brenner the last time I was i NY, two years ago and have recommended it to my friends, going there, ever since. This time, when we booked our trip to NY, Max Brenner was one of three restaurants that we had to return to. Don´t miss the Tiramisu cocktail and the chocolate fondue. The only negative information that I have to give is that it´s a bit noisy but that also means kid friendly. Bottom line; I love Max Brenner!"

"We took our mum here for an early Mother's Day celebration and she absolutely loved it! We've been here many times before, but this was her first time here and we could not have asked for a better experience. The food was fantastic as always and our server was very nice and super accommodating to our special requests throughout the meal. "This is the second time that I've been here. Overall, I think it's ok, but not great. The food is good, not spectacular. Reason I went back a second time (and will be going back again) is that my girlfriend loves the place. Personally, I'd rather go elsewhere. That said, the food is good, but not spectacular. "The answer is, you can't. Max Brenner's does chocolate justice. I've been here many times before, but had never ordered anything but their desserts. This time, we ordered the 'Sliced & Diced Steak “Pillow” Panini' which comes with delicious waffle fries. Delicious. We shared this between two people to leave enough room for the 'Euphoria Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge Sundae' which is as peanut buttery as it needs to be. Completely delightful meal. Will come back again and again."

"This restaurant is amazing. My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary and we had so much fun. I read the Max Brenner story in the menu and it really is just how he describes. There is such a Willy Wonka experience- fun with food and chocolate! We laughed so much while making our s'mores and drinking the hot chocolate.

"Everytime I dine in Max Brenner, I always feel ecstatic and sets me in a good mood. The lovely music in the background adds the coziness of the place. My boyfriend and I loved your mood sunday pasta and fondue treats. This place is not only for lovers but definitely for friends and family, where every individual would feel relaxed, pampered and promotes bonding. "Worried it would be a crowded scene on a Friday evening we opted for an earlier dinner at 5:30. We made a reservation the same morning and arrived to find a huge event in Union Sq. delaying us by 15 mins. Nonetheless, we were greeted warmly and shown quickly to our table. The restaurant was busy but not crowded. Service was friendly, and helpful. Decor is great , food solid with plenty of non-chocolate fare offered so ok if you aren't into a 10,000 calorie meal. Everything was delicious and surprisingly not the cloying sweet, heavy meal I feared! Our teenage guests were giddy with the whole experience."

"I've joined coming to Max Brenner in the past when I visit NYC. This time the people at reception need to have better manners. We were a party of three with one person running late on a weeknight (because if work). I had a reservation and asked for them to seat two of us and the third person would join in. She tried to pull the 'we can't seat incomplete parties' line on me and I told her that most of the party is here and we're okay with a table for 2. She reluctantly seated us on a table for 4 but nor before rudely stating 'the third person better show up.' I get it's NYC but that gives them no right to be impolite!"

"Food was good - not spectacular but reliable and tasty and well seasoned. Had many things on the menu. The crux of this place is the desserts. My fave is the molten lava cake. It's a great place to take kids for birthday or special celebrations. Get a little loud but I think it's part of the charm. Try to get a seat upstairs where the noise level definitely is lower."
