"Waiter was inattentive. Purchased a 43.00 Frenched Veal chop. Chop was great. Finished about 1/3 of the chop and was full. Asked the waiter to package up the chop to take home. Later the waiter came to give me the bill. I asked where the chop was and they said they threw it away. They didn't know that I wanted to take it home. I was upset over the overall service of a meal in the 180.00 range."

"Most outstanding dining experience yet! The food was absolutely incredible with service to match! I don't think our drinks ever even got half empty the whole night! Yes, the menu is quite pricy, but its more than worth it. You can't make a wrong choice on any of their dishes, it's all incredible. Definitely a romantic spot, also good for rehearsal dinners/special events. Won't go wrong dining here!"

"Food was good, but not great, certainly not great for price. Bella Napoli, within 2 minutes, has best Italian in Nashville, at 1/3rd the price. Main entrees were tolerably priced, but soups and salads are ridiculous. Lastly, we asked for three of the meals to take home as leftovers, but they only gave us 2, and the one they forgot was the only pasta entree we thought was really good."

"Food was very good however the service was terrible. Our table of 3 had to ask for menus, wine list and at the end of our meal we were not even offered a dessert menu. For every step of the meal we had a different waiter and no one seemed to be concerned with serving our table in a timely manner nor did they know what step of the meal we were in. This is an expensive restaurant and we expected stellar service. We did not get that service which marred our overall experience."

"The facility is very attractive. Live piano music was a plus - and quiet enough that you could still easily have a conversation even within close range. The service was truly outstanding. Appetizers were very good, particularly the salumi, which were excellent. The entrees were quite good, but less inspiring. We found the desserts lacking. Very limited choice of standard restaurant desserts, rather heavy handed, with the exception of the gelato, which was well made and flavorful."

"Giovanni's does a great job at classic Northern Italian food. All of the dishes our table had were perfectly prepared and the ingredients were fresh.
The Pasta is all made on the premises and is incredible. The Veal Chop was excellent.
Service was very attentive without being overbearing.

"As someone with a discriminating palate, I find myself continually heading back to Giovanni's for the best dining experience in Nashville. It's fit for almost any purpose...business lunches/dinners and/or date nights, but what is really special is the food quality and attention to detail. In a town where alleged "hot spots" are turning up left and right, I know I can count on Giovanni's for a great experience (food, wine, and atmosphere). I also do a ton of business travel and have been to all of the popular LA, Chicago, and NYC italian places and while many of them are great, you could put Giovanni's in any major metro and it would be among the best restaurants in town. This is easily my pick for best of Nashville across all categories."

"I had read mixed reviews of this restaurant but decided to try it anyway. The negative reviews were correct. The food was mediocre at best--the worst Caesar salad I ever had--a few leaves of lettuce with dressing that did not even taste like Caesar dressing for 12.95. I do not recommend this restaurant. It is way overpriced. The food was mediocre and the staff acted as if they could not care if we were there--except for the young man who filled the water glasses and took away the dishes. There are much better restaurants in Nashville--go to them."

"The interior of the restaurant is very nice and the hostess seated us quickly. We were given some water and a drink order was made. It took 15 minutes to have a menu given to us, 25 minutes before our waiter even came to our table. Basically the waiter could have cared less we were even there. In watching other tables, the same thing was occurring. Finally our waiter half heartedly asked us if we'd like to order. We ordered seafood ravioli ($29) and Veal Scallopini ($36.50). We then were left by ourselves for several minutes. We had to ask for bread and it was brought without olive oil or butter, the bread itself was cold. We had to ask for the olive oil to use with our bread. On the good side, the meal arrived fairly quickly, my wife's sea"

"I took my wife to Giovanni's on 2/15 for her birthday. We each had 1 glass of wine. We shared a fried calamari appetizer. We shared a Caesar salad. She ordered the plain gnocchi pasta. I ordered the linguini with white clam sauce. We shared a single desert, and each had a cup of coffee. $168 BUCKS, W/OUT TIP!!! The food was not worth that price. The calamari was chewy and what you might find at a chain. The Caesar salad ($16!) was a total of 4 romaine leaves - that was 2 for each of us, or $4/leaf! My linguini was more than al dente - it was flat out under cooked. The dessert was akin to a store bought Hostess cake, and the service was way below what you expect at that price. This is Nashville, not NY or Vegas."

"in fairness, it was VAlentine's day so there was a limited set menu.I had read the mixed reviews so I went in with my eyes open. They were crowded & did not appear staff ready for number of guests. Food was "OK", served less than warm. Although waiter was friendly apparent he was busy. "We started with the carpaccio appetizer which was light and flavorful, accompanied by excellently crafted martinis. We enjoyed the Caesar salad, carefully made with selected Romaine leaves and an excellent dressing and garnish of high quality Parmigiano. At the server's suggestion, I ordered the pan-seared filet of sole, which was delicate and flavorful, and in a nice touch filleted tableside. My wife was very pleased with the penne a la vodka, which was rich and flavorful. I was surprised at the quality of the house Chianti. We succumbed to ordering the tiramisu, a cliche dessert in many restaurants, but not here, where it is liquid and short of sweet with fine cocoa topping. Service: Billy was attentive, personal, and memorable."
