Fresh, local ingredients, prepared with care. Excellent wines that reflect the quality and character of our region and work in concert with the cuisine. Warm, inviting ambiance, service at a relaxed, leisurely pace.

Santa Barbara ‘Wine Country Cuisine’ means we source our ingredients using an ‘as-fresh-and-as-local-as-possible’ approach, with fish from the Santa Barbara Channel and produce from the surrounding countryside. We then take into account how these flavors can be presented in concert with our local wines. I believe you’ll taste the difference and see how well they work together.
the wine
We believe Santa Barbara is producing some of the finest Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah. Other locally produced varietals will surprise you with their quality, variety and approachability. Please ask your server for recommendations on how any of our 40+ wines by the glass match up with your selections. Bon Appètit!

"My wife and I travel to Santa Barbara pretty regularly and on the whole are a little disappointed by the restaurant scene. BUT in a city where restaurants regularly over promise and under deliver, Bouchon is the real deal. We had an incredible meal and enjoyed the service we received. They have become an instant favorite of ours in Santa Barbara."

"Bouchon definitely is a place to be to celebrate those romantic special occasions. I especially like to mention that their Seared Local Pacific Fresh Fish was exquisitely tasty. The tarragon cream blends perfectly with the yukon gold potatoes, baby carrots, rock shrimp and leeks. They also have an array of wine selection both locally made and from outside Santa Barbara."

"The scallop trio appetizer was outstanding. Rack of lamb was cooked perfectly and the side of brusselsprouts with pork belly was delicious. My husband had the duck which he loved. The waiter' s wine recommendations were great! Unfortunately we were too full to try dessert-maybe next time!"

"Fantastic spot in downtown SB. Friendly, knowledgeable server that helped us explore new choices in the mainly local wine list. Probably the deepest selection we've found in any restaurant in the area. From the moment we arrived, the sights and scents from the open kitchen offered a perfect backdrop for the evening. The beet salad was fantastic as was the braised pork shank. Highly recommend this spot as a must-do for a weekend in SB."

"Anniversary dinner with baby. Salad w/ pear, gorgonzola, candied pecans was good, as was seared fish of the day (sea bass). Duck breast & confit was excellent (waiter said it has been on the menu for 15 years). Large selection of local wines and our waiter was happy to have us taste as many as we liked. Service overall was very good -- friendly, attentive, informative, not at all rushed. Price was very reasonable for the food and experience."

"We had an early reservation do to a performance at the nearby Arlington Theater. Bouchon was already bustling. The space is intimate, yet not crowded. Our waiter was knowledgable regarding the menu and the wine list. Both the duck and the pork shank were divine. The salad special which included beets and burrata cheese was very good, and large enough to share . This dining experience was flawless, due to an efficient staff, team effort, and modern local cuisine."

"Our first experience dining at Bouchon was a pleasant surprise as we hadn't expected so wonderful a restaurant nearly hidden off State Street. Nice wine list featuring some real California gems. Shared appetizer and desert, and enjoyed 2 different seafood main courses: all were excellent. Of note, the fish was prepared properly: the sea bass was moist in the middle and the ahi was correctly rare. The flavors blended well: the emphasis on fresh and local shines through. Would strongly recommend for dinner, and will definitely dine there again on a return visit to Santa Barbara."

"Overall, a really nice experience. Byron, our waiter, was exceptional. His knowledge of the food, wine and pairings, was perfect. The food was good, not as amazing as I'd hoped, but still enjoyable. My boyfriend had the lamb, I had the fish of the day, and my daughter had the salmon. All nice, not amazing, but nice. The desserts, blueberry/lemon cake, and apple crisp were lovely...again, not out of this world, but nice. Overall, a nice experience, just don't sit by the door in front of the hostess station, like a wind tunnel from the front dining patio. All other tables seemed really nice though. Oh well, now I know..."

"Ate at Bouchon last week on our honeymoon and found it to be a very good meal. Our server was very polite and prompt and the atmosphere was semi-energetic, despite it being a quiet wednesday night. I had the crab cakes for starter and the rack of lamb for entree, both were quite tasty. The braised brussel sprouts w the lamb were awesome. My wife had a beet salad to start and the fish of the day for her entree and enjoyed both as well. We also had a nice bottle of local syrah which was good. All in all, a nice meal at a nice restaurant...wouldn't say it was spectacular, but definitely enjoyed it and would return if we're ever in Santa Barbara again."

"I have eaten here before when it was busy & the food & service were outstanding.Strangely enough I had the same waiter as previous(Stephen)&he remembered me.As always his service is A-1.This time it was not very busy (weeknight&a concert at the SB Bowl-which I'm sure affected a lot of places in SB as almost everyone I ran into was going to the concert).I tried the Rack of Lamb this time with faro barley & brussel sprouts with pork belly & figs.For the most part, the food was excellent.My lamb had a lot of inedible fiber in it and 2 pieces were perfect and one was terribly rare. I sent it back for more fire and it came back a little well done, but it was delicious all the same.The faro & the brussel sprouts were also excellent."

"For a special birthday, we looked for a special place (comparable, say, to Lagasse's restaurants in NOLA, or Restaurant Nora in D.C., or even Greens, in S.F.). For Santa Barbara, Bouchon came closest to this level. The Scallops Three Ways appetizer was imaginative, and the one prepared with carmelized endive and grapefruit marmalade was tasty indeed; the salmon was quite good (though the pickled onions should have been left off the plate); and the beef was very very good, even though its presentation was peculiar. Dessert was a molten chocolate lava cake..not made in-house but still very yummy. The waiter took the news that we were not drinking alcohol with great aplomb, which was appreciated. If they work on the details, they'll soon be up"

"We were very excited to eat at Bouchon, based on all the amazing reviews. Maybe the hype increased our expectations, but we thought everything was "good, not great." Service in particular was the biggest disappointment. While we were promptly taken care of (with water order) by the hostess who seated us, it took another 15 minutes or so for our waiter to get to us. It probably took another 10 minutes to get our wine delivered. It was not a busy night (it was a Monday), so to wait nearly a half an hour for drinks was a disappointment. Food was good, experience overall just average."

"Good overall restaurant. My only issues were with our waiter: He brought the dessert and dropped the check at the table at the same time. He did not wait to see or ask if we would like anything else. After placing cash in the check presenter he scooped it up quickly and returning the change. Once I placed the tip inside he took that again, we hadn't even finished our dessert during this odd service behavior. As a result of this I reduced my tip from 25% to 18%, it cost him in the end. I would dine here again but as a second choice to Seagrass."

"Wonderful experience, everything was A+. The wine list was extensive and excellent, primarily consisting of Santa Rita Hills/Santa Ynez wines. And the food, now that was a joy. I just wish I could have worked my way through the entire menu. Ingredients were obviously fresh and well matched for great taste combinations. Service was excellent. Our server was very knowledgable and provided information about menu selections and wine choices at our request, but he was always unobtrusive. Loved this place and will definitely come back on my next Santa Barbara trip."

"This restaurant was highly recommended by everyone I spoke with. Now I understand why. Everything was exemplary, from the initial greeting, to the great service staff, to the food, to the locale.
The staff there are fantastic, and our server provided constant service, without once being intrusive. That's not always the easiest thing to get right. He was incredibly knowledgeable, and made a couple of good recommendations that helped contribute to the great evening.
The food was top notch. Appetizers through dessert; it was all memorable.
Easy to find just off the main drag in Santa Barbara, Bouchon easily lived up to the billing I've consistently seen given to this establishment."

"We had a fantastic experience at Bouchon recently. It was my 17 yo son's birthday and we had been to and loved Bouchon in the past. We decided to take my kids- 17, 13, 10 and 10 years old as well. The entire experience was fantastic. The wait staff were helpful and attentive. The food from appetizers to main course to dessert was fantastic. The baked brie was creamy and well presented. The steak with the potatoes was one of the most flavorful and perfectly cooked steaks I have had and the potatoes were out of this world fantastic. Everyone else loved their meal as well- including the lambchops and Kubota pork shank. One of the nice things was the splitting of a meal for my 10 yo daughters.I eagerly look forward to my next meal here!"

The fish as described on the menu was 'rare' to 'medium-rare', I asked for mine to be cooked through and it was done to perfection, not overly so.
