Las Palmas is a family owned and operated business with strong ties to the city. From East Rogers Park to Wicker Park, we identify with the strain of this urban metropolis and feel a vested interest in providing a communal place for the essentials of human activities.
Tucked into a tiny alcove in one of this city’s trendiest neighborhoods, Las Palmas remains one of Bucktown’s best-kept secrets. Upon entering the restaurant one’s senses are inundated with the vibrant colors of local and international artwork and the festive or melancholy sounds of live traditional music. Las Palmas serves spirited Mexican cuisine in a decidedly upscale, but refreshingly unpretentious environment. Chef Armando Gonzalez provides an exquisite selection of courses made from the freshest ingredients with solid roots in Mexican culinary heritage yet with a penchant for inventive whimsy.
"Visiting Chicago. Went here with 2 girlfriends based on the open table reviews. The restaurant was fantastic! Good value for your money. The food was delicious. The mojitos on the menu were beyond fantastic (especially the watermelon mojito). The restaurant has a cute and sunny patio which is great for out door dining. I highly recommend the ceviche and the strip steak. These dishes were especially to die for!"

"The food and service here are excellent. This is an upscale menu, so if you are looking for a place to get a burrito you are out of luck. The food is well prepared and sophisticated and the margaritas are great!"

"Las Palmas offers extremely tasty, and out of the ordinary Mexican food... as well as friendly and very attentive service. This is not your standard burritos/ tacos/ enchiladas place. I had skirt steak with Papas Fritas and Plantains, my husband had an amazing veggie "risotto" type dish served in an acorn squash, and one of our friends had duck breast in Blackberry sauce. All were extremely delicious. Great selection of wines, by glass or bottle, and fun drinks too. All in all, a great evening out."

"Very good food, our reservation was for 9:15p they got us in quicker then that. Very good skirt and guacmole was great! Margaritas a little pricy so keeps you limited but very good."

"Food is excellent. I have been here many times. We always have the picture of house margaritas. They are good/satisfying. The waiter this time was a little over energetic. He talked too much at first but then seemed to relax. It was a busy Saturday night. In my reservation, I asked for the outside patio. It was too cold and my girlfriends wanted to stay inside. They gave us a fantastic table inside by the window. It was great."

"Everything you could ask for. Each dish was fresh, well-flavored and smartly put together. The mole was outstanding. We came late on a Sunday. The owner was dining nearby and couldn't have been more cordial."

"The mood was perfect and the entire staff was incredibly friendly. Most importantly, however, the food was ABSOLUTELY scrumptious. I highly recommend this restaurant. The place seemed quite popular as well. The only minor complaint would be that there was a party being held in the back and it got quite noisy for about 20-30 minutes being there."

"I had some friends visiting from out of town & they really wanted Mexican, so I brought them here. The food was amazing! The only thing wrong was one of my party ordered a chicken dish & it was very dry. Between the steak entrees & the drinks, plus free guacamole! everything turned out just bueno!"

"We've gone a couple times and really enjoyed both the food and service. Guac was great and drinks were tasty. Little pricey for mexican but would still go back. Looking forward to trying out the patio in the summer!"

"My friend and I split the shrimp appetizers which was delicious. The salmon entree and fish tacos were excellent. Nice dining space with a gas fireplace at the entryway. The only improvement I'd make is to the seating; the booth cushioned seats are a bit worn and need more cushion! A great place."

"Great local Mexican food in a fun environment with excellent service. They also had live music, which was nice (not too overpowering or cheesy). Pitcher of margaritas was delicious. Staff was very courteous and prompt."

"I've been dining at Las Palmas for several years and have never been disappointed by the service, drinks or food. This time I had the stuffed chayotes and it was amazing. I would recommend this dish if you are looking for a great dish or a meat alternative."

"We went there with a group of 13 girls for a bachelorette party and we were very well taken care of. The waitress was helpful, attentive, and patient. Our food was delicious. And there was a man playing guitar and singing - which really set the mood."

"No wait for our 6:00 Sunday reservation. Food was excellent. Top-notch ceviche appetizer and freshly-made guacamole were perfect starters. Tilapia tacos were crispy and light. Fresh jicama slaw made it special. Lomo was an absolute treat! Pork tenderloin cooked just right on a bed of luscious Brussels sprouts with bacon topped with a perfect blueberry reduction. Tequila flight was a nice way to sample new flavors. I recommend sharing one if you also order the margarita pitcher like we did. Apple dessert with cinnamon. Ice cream was big enough to share. Service could have been better. We felt a bit ignored and waitress never check in to ask how things were. Luckily they were awesome!"

"This was my second time dining at Las Palmas and I was again quite satisfied. I love the drinks here, especially the margaritas. The food is absolutely delicious as well, and the service is great. Though its a small space, the atmosphere is fun and friendly. I would recommend groups of friends dining here for a fun and casual evening!"

"I've been to this place many times. I always enjoy it and get the butternut squash risotto with shrimp. I took a group of 6 on Saturday night. They had a table promptly at 8 pm and we had pitchers of house margeritas with dinner. My only minor issue is that I requested seating in the front room but they say at us in the back room. Once the entire group was seated, then they told me they had a table in the front = and I chose not to ask everyone to relocate. I think everyone had a great time and we will be back. Our dinner was reasonable about $50 per person."
