"We go to El Chorro for a great getaway. The location is beautiful. It feels like we are away on vacation. Then the service is friendly and attentive without rushing or interrupting the dining experience. The food is always well prepared and unique. Love it."

"We went here for Mother's Day dinner. Party of 6. We all enjoyed the limited but delicious Mother's Day menu, the beautiful patio and the sunset with Camelback Mountain as a back drop. Service was good and we all thought the food was excellent. The Kale salad and Centre cut filet entree were especially good. We are looking forward to our next visit."

"El Chorro is an old-time Scottsdale restaurant landmark (dates to 1937) with a great history. New owners have extensively remodeled to provide outstanding outdoor dining and great open-air ambience in a beautiful setting with Camelback Mountain as the backdrop. Mother's Day brunch is arguably one of the busiest dining days of the year, yet we were seated promptly and received excellent service from Damien throughout our meal. We received our famous sticky buns (awesome!!) almost as soon as we were seated. The brunch buffet was extensive and, while everything served was excellent, there was no real "standout" dish. So, for $138 (including an 18.5% gratuity automatically added to my tab) for 2, good but a bit overpriced."

"It was the perfect place to celebrate perfect women. The intimate separate dining room for just our family. The servers were so attentive to every need, and the food was excellent. Always the famous sticky buns to the Eggs Benedict to the salmon and brie cheese were delicious in addition to many dishes on the menu. So many to sample and just so much room! The prime rib was the highlight of the 91 yr old great grandmother."

"Everything was great until our waiter Ron put our order in after a known large party ordered. The scenic view was awesome, we sat right by the outdoor fireplace. Noise level was moderate, it seemed everyone was having a great time but not overly loud. Otherwise Ron was an excellent waiter and gave us another glass of wine on the house for having to wait for our main course. All the food from appetizer to dessert was excellent. I will definitely return here again when visiting Phoenix."

"The tale of two worlds. Rachel was an absolutely lovely waitress for happy hour.
After seating, our table of 5 ordered directly from the dinner and it was obvious that our waiter, Eric, wasn’t pleased.
Upon delivery, all was just fine until I cut into my $44 strip steak and he took it away. He came back and asked if I’d like another glass of Cab – well, no, unless your manager is buying so I might have it with my steak. The rest of the table was done with dinner.
How’s my wife’s Birthday going? Did Eric bring the wine, dessert, or anything to enhance the experience? No. I spoke with Alec, the manager, and he simply could not have cared less. Alec was truly the manager of a restaurant that I would never want to experience again."

"We have eaten at the El Chorro restaurant since 1979 and this was the worse experience we have had yet the hollandaise sauce was terrible. The bloody Mary was too spicy and premade it too was awful. The only thing the restaurant had going for it was great outdoor dining, if you want bad food in a nice setting then go there other wise avoid. Will not ever go back. Very pricey for bad food. We even noticed that the crowd that used to come on Sunday was very thin which speaks volumes."

"I took my husband here over the weekend for a romantic dinner for two, and that is exactly what we had. The food and atmosphere was perfect, right along with the weather (we dined outside). There was a large group there that night as well, this is one of the many great things about El Chorro, you have have several things that go on at the same time and it never interferes with other patrons and never slows down service. Honestly, this is the first time I have been here since the new owners and remodel, I was in fear the charm would be gone, but it's still there - only BETTER now. Thank you for the great experience and I plan on visiting again very soon, the food is delicious and sticky buns are not to be missed!"

"The service was very good. Our wait staff was very attentive. We had the seasonal fish which was Halibut, a bit heavy on the sea salt but nonetheless was good. Generous portion size, recommend sharing the appetizer if you're ordering starters. Patio seating is the way to go."

This time we were a bit disappointed in the trout entree. We usually rate it the 2nd best in the valley - 1st being Roaring Fork, 3rd the Village Tavern. This visit we'd have to rate it the 3rd best. It didn't seem as fresh or expertly cooked. This wouldn't keep us from coming back; but we might not order that entree."

We had a variety of the brunch offerings, but all were underwhelming with the French toast being just hard and tasteless. "We were six for brunch, which was off the menu, on April 21 at 1-3 p.m., outdoors under shade umbrellas. The service was excellent and the food very good (especially loved the home fries). Except for the bacon, of all things! No smoke flavor, no salt flavor, in fact, NO flavor. The outdoor setting is lovely. When it's hot like it was when we were there, it would be nice if those misters were placed around the entire area, not just one side. We didn't mind the noise. I'd go again anytime--but would sit by the misters if it's hot!"

"It was our 29th Wedding Anniversary we had a 7:00 PM reservation. We arrived early for drinks at the outside bar. We were greeted warmly and checked in. The bar was great. Wonderful drinks, great service. After drinks we were sat at a table for two near a fire pit. The sun was setting, the weather was perfect. I had Steak, my wife had Enchiladas, both were great. We had let the resturant know it was our Anniversary and they provided a nice dessert with candle after our meal, very nice. Service was excellent.

"This restaurant has a beautiful patio for outdoor dining. I expected exceptional service but we had to ask to have our candle lit and for the famous sticky buns. My father requested a substitution of fresh tomatoes in lieu of his vegetables and we were told there would be an additional charge of $5.00. Considering the price of the entree's I found this ridiculous. I believe our waiter was embarrassed with the chefs decision to charge and in the end we were not charged."

"We had the shrimp appetizer... it was fabulous with the bread for dunking in the sauce. I ordered the fish special and it was tastey... my husband ordered the pork and it had great flavor but.... neither dinner was hot.... both were barely warm. The waitress did not check back until we were more than half way finished with the entree. We ordered the chocolate cake dessert.... not good at all.... it tasted like it had been made a day before and the 2 strawberrys were mushy.... we did mention this and we were not charged for the dessert.
This is out first visit to the "new" El Chorro.... and our last. They want to be a destination restaurant but they are falling short..."

"It's a decent restaurant. However, food there is really so so. I was not impressed at all. Had chicken liver, cheese meat platter, pepper shrimp, and beef short ribs. Only beef short ribs were good. The rest were like bar food. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant for special occassion."

"We love El Chorro! The service is fantastic...great bartenders who all seem to work so well together. It is truly refreshing to see a staff that cares about their customers and their fellow employees. We met the owner of the restaurant when we were there last weekend and we felt as though we had known him our entire lives...very down-to-earth. The food is very tasty and even though it isn't inexpensive, it is well worth the cost of the experience. Do yourself a favor and go to this great patio restaurant!"

"I love El Chorro because of the atmosphere/outdoor dining. The decor is rustic but nice. The service was impeccable..our waiter was very knowledgeable about what type of boat was used to catch the halibut and whether it had been frozen. The halibut was perfectly cooked but it did not have a lot of favor. This may just be halibut these days. The beef stroganoff was also fine but again not particularly interesting."

"Chicken quesadillas did not read as a spicy dish it was way to spicy for me i couldnt eat it, waiter didnt seem to care. The rest of our guests we brought enjoyed their meals.
