"A lovely spot for a la carte breakfast (midweek) - not a busy extravaganza like Sunday buffet brunch - just a beautiful setting, exceptionally good service in a white linen, spacious setting, and excellent food. Just about every table inside and out has views of Diamond Head in addition to the water, given the full floor-ceiling sliding doors that are fully open. No need to get the outer-most row of tables on the covered lanai. In fact the outermost ring of elevated interior tables have slightly better views and are more peaceful. No hustle and bustle - just nice adult-oriented setting. You can see on the other side of the lawn the more child-friendly (relative) madhouse of a scene at the daily buffet in the House Without A Key."

"We've been dining at "Orchids" at the Halekulani Hotel for many, many years, and it never disappoints! We request (and, usually, get) a table outside on the lanai, within steps of the beautiful Pacific Ocean. The food and service are consistently excellent. And, it's hard to beat the view of Diamond Head!"

"Wanted to give my fiance a romantic Hawaiian dinner experience and chose Orchids. As you will be able to tell by my ratings it provided all that and more. The grounds of the hotel as you walk through is fabulous and the ambiance at Orchids just as beautiful. The service was great and i wish I could remember the waiters name who was perfect - not intrusive, yet there when we needed him. We enjoyed the food, the wine and the desert while listening to the gentle crash of the ocean waves."

"It was my second visit but my wife's 1st to this hotel's dining experience. Our group of 4 arrived at 5:30pm in time for the evening entertainment outside the House Without A Key. With great cocktails (Mai Tai's) and soaking in the last rays of sun spraying across beautiful Waikiki beach, along with the Hawaiian music and dancing, we knew it would be a night to remember. Attention to detail from the staff to the overall appearance is why I give Orchids a 5 STAR rating.
TIP - A must dessert - the Halekulani’s Signature Coconut Cake. All four of us agreed - the VERY BEST coconut cake.
The girls can dress to impress here and if you're in the company of elite - it's the place to meet and eat. Mahalo!"

"A more formal restaurant located in the Halekulani Hotel. I was politely asked to don loaner trousers since I was wearing dress shorts. (Dress code not stated on the Open Table page but was stated on the Orchids web site.) Food was certainly good, but not extraordinary. The views were good as well, but no better than many other places in the area. The bill was pretty hefty ($550 for 5) but not outrageous considering the venue. I had the Orchids Salad which was fresh but the dressing was a touch peppery. The signature Onaga “Orchids Style” was well prepared and enjoyable. I tried the Grilled Pineapple with chile ice cream - did not impress. A good place for a formal dinner; but there are better values to be had in Waikiki."

"Everyone was very polite. The service was excellent along with the food. I had only one problem. I paid the bill using my debit card and later when I checked my account balance I had noticed the money charged against my account was not what was written on the check. An additional 5% was added on. I left a $30 tip on a $165 lunch. An additioanl $11.62 was charged against my account."

"We decided to have dinner at our hotel this night, the Halekulani, since we had just flown in on an 8 hour flight that afternoon. Maybe we were tired but while we enjoyed the surroundings and atmosphere we were very disappointed in the food. I ordered Monchong and it was quite dry. The only saving grace was the sauce that accompanied the dish. My companion's dish was even less enticing. She ordered the Onaga which was dry and as bland as could be. The sides were not much better. The service was good, although there were times when the servers were overly attentive. Once or twice is enough to check on how we're doing but this was one continuous parade. I know any restaurant can have an off night but this was our one and only chance to enjoy."

"A memorable meal! We started by sharing the Ahi Crudo. Crudo is Italian for raw. The raw Ahi was prepared with horseradish and Daikon and dressed the Saki-Lemon. Next we shared the Orchids salad, greens and fruit dressed with pomegranate vinaigrette. What a burst of flavors! Our entrée was the Island Seafood for two. It consisted of a lobster, Onaga and shrimp steamed with lime leaves. It was accompanied by Aioli: Symbol, Samron Garlic and Miso. We completed our meal with an array of tasty sorbets. The wine list is extensive. We selected a Chardonnay to complement our meal. The service was outstanding. Our server was helpful and vigilant. All of this with the ocean right in front of you. The sky was magnificent at sunset. Oh yes,"

"Have eaten here in past visits to Hawaii and was alwways superb, but not this time. While the servic and ambiance remain, the food was disappointing. My fish dish was so salty as to be in edible. Within a few minutes like magic another plate arrived with the sauce on the side, far less salty. How did they prepare it in 2 or 3 minutes? Perhaps I am just spoiled by the excellence of previous visits."

"There were only 2 of us and we were given a table for 4 outside in the far corner under the canopy. the view of the ocean and the sound of the waves highlighted our experience.

"We are long time visitors and once were residents on the island in fact when the restaurant was with the previous owners....we miss that Hawaiian flair...but we are glad that some of the buildings remain....it still could have a little more of the island mood...we will be back...our favorite was Michels's but the traffic has become too much ...

"Every time we go to Waikiki we eat at Orchids. But this time was very disappointing. My husband ordered the veal--tough, no flavor, and not rare like he ordered it.
I had great scallops with corn and bacon as an appetizer and it was perfect. Then I had the most disappointing lamb -- rare not medium rare and absolutely no flavor!!! I even added lots of salt and still no flavor. The only reason I ate it and did not send it back was that we had important guests at the table.
Not the meal I expected at Orchids and differently not worth the price we paid. We will give them one more try."

"The staff is consistently excellent...from car park to host to waiters, etc. Especially the waiters: Genuinely adult and professional, which is rare in Honolulu. Food is fine. Nothing especially memorable, but basically okay. The ambiance, of course, is lovely and memorable. I have lived in Honolulu for more than 30 years and have certain places I take guests depending on the situation. Duc's Bistro in Chinatown for unexpected and friendly warmth, quiet,"local" tastefulness, plus excellent food. Vino in Restaurant Row for creative food and fabulous wine....and, if you ask for it, the best wine advice and service anywhere. And Orchids for lunch: Unbeatable location, professional and friendly service, and casual elegance."

"I chose Orchids Restaurant for my girlfriend's birthday dinner. It was 100% the right choice, and I can't fault it. Amazing food, outstanding service, and we were so lucky to have perfect weather to watch the sunset. I would highly recommend this restaurant and suggest asking if you can be seated outside to enjoy the view."

"All the staff at The Orchids from the hostess to the waiter to the food servers were all so friendly and always smiling! Water and coffee were never empty. Great selection of food. Even someone with food allergies, like me, can find more than enough to feast on. BEST bacon ever!!! Definitely a FIVE star experience!!"

"We went to the hugely popular Sunday brunch. It was an okay experience. The service was fantastic, very attentive. We just didn't enjoy it as much as we expected. The food was average. It was interesting to try once but we would of rather have paid a little more and had a nice dinner at Roy's Waikiki.
If you enjoy buffets then you will enjoy this. Please note it was $57 per person before tax and tips when we went."
