"First time experience did not disappoint. Prices were very reasonable, and the cuisine was a welcome change of pace from most restaurants. A unique dining experience."

"We live in Cleveland, OH but would drive to Ann Arbor once a month to eat at Shalimar's. We've had "Indian" food from San Francisco to Hamburg, Germany and a lot of cities in between. We ate it often in the two years we lived in Nairobi. Some were good, and we are not experts, but most were pretenders. Shalimar is real! From the Samosas to the Tandoori dishes, naans and ginger rice pudding, If you like Indian food; go to Shalimar!"

"Had a nice but not great dinner on a Friday night. Shalimar has expanded tables between the bar and the front door, and we were at one of those tables. Luckily, it wasn't too cold. The service was nearly glacial, though! The restaurant was really busy, in the server's defense. The food was good but not great, and the table (more bar table size) was too small for the food we ordered. Overall it was an enjoyable evening but could have been a bit better."

"I was super impressed by the food, it was delicious. However, our service was very bad, and our waiter never came around to our table to another kind waiter picked up our table and helped us order and got our food out to us quickly. There were only two of us, so I don't know why the waiting service was so bad, but it was worth it for the food. The portions were good and the taste was great."

"Shalimar is unquestionably the best Indian restaurant in the Ann Arbor area. The food is consistently good. Notable dishes include their shrimp pakoras, lamb biriyani, seekh kebab, saag paneer and baigan bhartha. Great for groups and meeting up with friends. The service is not bad but can improve. Shalimar is highly recommended."

"Another great meal and experience at Shalimar. This time we went for Valentines Day. We made a reservation and were sat right away. My wife ordered a Chocolate Milk Martini and she liked it so much she ordered 2. :) The saag paneer was the highlight of the meal. Excellent! We also tried a paneer and noodle special (cannot recall the name) that was on the menu; it was pretty good but the presenation was even better (panners were in the shape of hearts). We had our favorite samosas (of course). I would say the only downside to the experience - and this is not a reflection of Shalimar - but a couple decided it was a good idea to bring an infant to dinner at 7:30pm. Enough said."

"While I usually like the food here a lot, I was disappointed that during this visit we were served lukewarm entrees. You can't really enjoy an Indian entree that isn't hot (temperature). The naan was also on the cold side. I would go back again since I have had good experiences in the past but if the service and quality isn't good, it will be my last."

"Our group was seated on time and our waiter was very helpful in providing suggestions for our meal. Everyone enjoyed their meal and there was enough variety in the provided selections to satisfy all of us!"
