"Unlike dinners in the past, we felt the quality of the food varied greatly between diners. The ceviche and Ahi tuna salad were spectacular but the green dinner salad and walleye were a disappointment.

Even though the restaurant was far from full we felt rushed by wait staff and dinner was delivered before we finished first course."

"Crazy slow for a Saturday night, especially considering they have half price bottles of wine on Saturdays. Food was good but not great. I had the risotto and scallops. Risotto was excellent but the scallops where overcooked so mixed bag. Let the manager know and he promised to let the kitchen know. Nice wine list that we explored with the manager's help."

"My reservations were for a business lunch and time was tight. The resturant was aware of my time constraints and had my table served promptly. We ate a great meal, paid our bill and were out the door 10 minutes ahead of schedule. I will eat at Mission again."

"I had the Beef Tenderloin which, despite being a nice cut of meat cooked to my specifications, was totally bland. The pureed potatoes and broccolini did not improve upon the meal. This entree begs for seasonings and a sauce; bernaise or a drizzle of aged balsamic would provide a most welcome spark of flavor. Our party did enjoy the cream cheese wontons served with a vinegar reduction and my husband was happy with the duck prepared two ways."

"The salad of mixed greens was simple, fresh, and good. The bread was very fresh. The Pork Porterhouse was bland, accompanied by not quite tender green beans and delicious roasted potatoes. The Halibut portion was minuscule and overcooked. It was the smallest and thinnest piece of halibut we had ever seen. The bottle of wine was quite nice."

"we had seating outdoors in the IDS center by the escalators. was expecting the noice volume to be bad, but no, it wasn't. it was very pleasant and actually more lighted than inside. we really liked the ambiance. the food was very well proportioned and i loved the steak that i had...it tasted really good. only wish i wasn't so full so i could finish my entree. the brocolli with it tasted perfect, not too soft, not too tough. the mash potatoes tasted great. the desserts were declicious...the red cake didn't taste too sweet. the bread tasted soft and went very well with the butter. i wish i could get more. only thing i could say i didn't like was the ice in my glass of water. too much ice, i couldn't drink out of it at all."

"My friend and I love to come here for lunch. The walleye is our favorite. We were celebrating her birthday on Monday and we were treated to a piece of complimentary red velvet cake! "This review is not about the excellence of mission, but rather to complain about Open Table service and the reservation process. Please pass this along to that organization.

I will not use this service again. At 2 different vendors, my reservation which had been confirmed by email was non-existent at the front desk. Both times I was embarrassed and inconvenienced in front of clients. I will not have my reputation impuned like this again. The old fashioned phone will have to suffice."

"Very good for lunch. Made the reservation online w/ Open Table the night before without a hitch. (Attempted to do the same with Restaurant Max, which replied that it needed more lead time. I would have called them if I really wanted to eat there, but I wanted less of a scenester place and more of a businesslike place, so the opentable denial was all I needed.) We were seated quickly, attended to well. All of which may have been due to our 11.30 reservation, which seemed relatively early. Restaurant was very well and professionally staffed. No waiting around. Food was great. Water glasses promptly filled. I asked for a quiet table and was given one, and there seemed to be plenty available, which was great. Fantastic service."

"The food was great. Their duck was out of this world, and my husband is still talking about his rack of lamb. Usually when we go out for a fancy dinner we go to small bistro sorts of places (like Barbette), we really enjoyed the totally different kind of service that we found at Mission. The Maitre D' and the waiter were very knowledgeable and attentive, and they really added to the whole experience.

Also, one other great thing, we brought our own bottle of wine and were pleasantly surprised to find out that they have NO corkage fee. They did, however, give us great wine service, even with our own bottle. They decanted it and served it, coming back throughout the meal to refresh our glasses."

"We went here for my wife's 30th birthday. We ordered the Cream Cheese Wontons to start, and they were fabulous. For the entree, I had the Prime Rib and swapped out the mashed potatoes for the "fries with four sauces." The four sauces were interesting, but the fries were not my type. The prime rib was average, and the sauce mingled with the fries, but that was my fault for not ordering the mashed potatoes. My wife, on the other hand, had the pistachio crusted walleye, which was ridiculously good. Mainly we both ate that. Very, very good. The vegetables that came with it were pretty good - I don't usually like veggies that much, but they had a good quality to them. Choc. cake for dessert disappeared very quickly!"

"It had been a while since I had been to Mission and I was very glad to be back. Seeing some welcoming and familiar faces from the defunct JP’s Bistro was a great way to start the evening! The restaurant was comfortably busy and the stream of Crystal Court holiday shoppers was wonderful people-watching. The attentive server brought me a glass of a crisp, dry Malbec and crusty bread along with the Soup d’jour: a Roasted Butternut Squash Bisque with a hint of coconut and spicy heat. My entrée was a perfectly grilled Center-Cut Beef Tenderloin on a mountain of Roasted Garlic Potato Puree and Bacon-braised Broccolini. To cleanse my palette, I chose Vanilla Ice Cream and Raspberry Sorbet…perfect with the last sips of Malbec. No coffee needed."

"Mission has long been a favorite of mine, but it's slipping. The food was ok, but not noteworthy. And there were relatively minor but very odd glitches. We were there on a Saturday night, but the restaurant was only moderately busy -- so we should not have been completely ignored for fifteen minutes after we were seated. We received apologies for that glitch, but then there was confusion about who was going to wait on us. When no bread came with our meal we were told that it was still in the oven but would be ready shortly. About fifteen minutes later the waiter told us that the bread still wasn't out of the oven, but he brought toasted old bread and promised the fresh soon. The fresh bread never came. Overall,a little disappointing."

"We had forgotten just how good this place is. The oysters were plump and juicy (Malpeques); the filets cooked perfectly and the deviled eggs are to die for. It might be time to take the bacon-and-tomato salad off the menu, however; Minnesota tomatoes in November are a bit of a disappointment, no matter how you dress them up."

"Good managers - very customer oriented. Good server. Chef came out to deliver our food - I don't think that always happens but did for us! New improved menu - we liked it a lot - will be a popular menu. Very nice bar. Good location downtown."

"Fantastic! My favorite restaurant in Minneapolis. Great atmosphere, knowledgeable and attentive staff. I was a little disappointed in the Ahi tuna appetizer this time, pretty small portion for the price and slightly overcooked. Lamb chops and the filet were outstanding. Half bottles are not on the menu, but just ask. Steele chardonnay was a great starter and half price full bottles on Saturday night! Can't beat that."
