A couple enjoying each others company tucked into a banquette late in the evening…a group of girlfriends people-watching from the sidewalk tables over brunch…two neighbors stopping by to grab lunch at the bar.
These people all have one thing in common as they enjoy a meal here on Fillmore Street in Pacific Heights- Chouquet's. Whether inside our warm dining room or outside under the heated protection of our large awning, diners come to Chouquet’s to enjoy fresh, seasonal French bistro fare in a casual yet refined environment. Join us for lunch, brunch, or dinner and let us satisfy you with signature dishes such as our grilled Ahi tuna with fennel ratatouille and Dungeness crab salad or with bistro classics such as steak frites, moules marinière, and our famous Iles flottantes for dessert. To complement your meal, we offer over 12 wines by the glass from our eclectic wine list of smaller producers.
"The Special Wine Dinner with French Wines paired with the different courses was an especially pleasing event. Few places do this and we are so fortunate to have been there. Each course was beautiful to see and the taste was exceptional...very special event. Hope they do this more than once a year...but the food at Chouquet's is outstanding every day but this was something special."

"My experience here was amazing, staff and kitchen were definitely at the top of their game! The escargot was perfect, burger was heavenly, and their deserts looked as amazing as they tasted. Definitely recommend highly!"

"We ate at Chouquet's after seeing a film at The Clay. Great to have a restaurant that stays open past mid afternnon with more than a bar menu. Both of us had a french wine and the salmon with fennel & spinach. It was the perfect amount of food and well priced."

"We wanted a quiet place to meet two out of towners. We needed to have an important conversation but also show them a good time and thank them for their help with a major project. Chouquet offered good food and nice ambiance and - that elusive ingredient - quiet! The wine suggestion was excellent; the food was good with the exception of my entree. The boef bourginon was way too salty, so they offered to take it back and prepare something else. My husband (who loves salt) ate my entree and gave me the rest of his scallops with black rice risotto (delicious). Chouguet did not charge us for the boef bourginon. Classy. We shared two desserts and I thought the apple tartlette was divine."

"Had reservations ahead of time, but were not seated until after other people who just showed up...and some of them after us. We were left standing in the rain with a new baby (who was sleeping and was never a bother to anyone). Once we were seated we were offered a drink gratis for our wait, so we thanked wait staff for that (who were not responsible for the problem). Food was so-so. Salad Nicoise should have more flavor and taste less fishy."

"I just tried Chouquet's again after a 2-year hiatus. Their food had gone downhill a couple of years ago so we stopped going there. Sad to say, it hasn't much improved. The soup of the day was quite good, but the Boeuf Bourguignon was over-salted and the pork medallions were OK but not very flavorful. The recommended wine by the glass was from a bottle that had been opened the day before - really not very good.
For the price, go elsewhere."

"The quality of the smoked salmon on the benedict was pretty good, but the portion size was very small. We were hungry about an hour later. The charm of the atmosphere and the French waiters makes for a fun experience and pleasant brunch, but I wouldn't recommend it for the food."

"Prices were also very reasonable. I wish I lived closer to Chouquet's, because I'd probably eat there more often and check out some of the other dishes on the menu."

"The food at Chouquet's was quite delicious and presented quite well. It was a delight to see the food, let alone to eat the delicious meal. The outstanding part of this visit were the waiters. Each one was so accommodating, polite, kind and considerate. We were celebrating 3 birthdays, but did not mention that to the waiters. One apparently overheard and brought to us a wonderful cream bule. We were so surprised and were happy to receive this free dessert. I would definitely go back and try out brunch and dinner."

"We wanted to reminisce about our trip to Paris with neighbors last year so we chose Chouquet. None of us had been there for years and we were all pleasantly surprised with the food and the service. The butter lettuce salad with champagne dressing was light but favorful and the moules marinieres with frites was better than Paris. Three of us had the boeuf bourguignon that had a rich sauce with tender beef and vegetables. We all had different wines by the glass from a very good wine list. Our servers were friendly and attentive. We will be back soon."

"Our coq au vin and pork medaillons were both quite flavorful, and the service was quite good. We were the only diners at 5:30, so that 'deadness' plus the big picture windows looking UP at passersby on Fillmore created a "fishbowl" effect that is unpleasant while dining, which is why the ambiance was marked with only two stars. The outdoor area might be quite charming on a warm night, though. My wine pour was miserly for $9, which was a turnoff. I would never PLAN on returning there, but if I found myself needing to eat in the area at prime time, I would not hesitate to return."

"Service was very slow - they had only two servers attending to a full restaurant (lunch took 1hr 30mins!). Their credit card machine was broken, but they did not tell patrons as they sat them, and instead waited until the end of the meal. The meal was not what I expected for the price paid. The burger was anemic and the meat portion small in comparison to the bun. We ordered the meat cooked medium, and it came out medium rare. It's a great location with a quaint patio, but with so many other superior restaurants in that area, I won't miss not going back."

"Great dinner spot - especially during the Dine About Town specials. Reservations are highly recommended. My favorite was the smoked trout with mache salad. The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wine. I will definitely come back."

"Really cute little cafe in an adorable neighborhood. Parking was difficult but that's kind of a given in the city. It was just like a friendlier version of a Parisian cafe. The menu included some of my favorite French dishes like croque Monsieur, salads lyonnais, salads nicoise, flammenkeuche (a specialty of the Alsace region), and kir (my favorite aperitif. White wine + creme de cassis). There were also some American brunch staples as well like eggs benedict and create your own omelettes."

"The restaurant did not honor the Dine About Town promotion. Wasted my time going there. With so many wonderful places to eat on Fillmore this place seems like a waste of time."

"ESCARGOTS DE BOURGOGNE:Was a little too bitter on the sauce and the bitterness of the sauce was lingering in my mouth. I guess people who are use to the sauce might like it but if you're new to this garlic, parsley, and white wine sauce then you might not light it. FILET DE BOEUF: This was probably my favorite dish of the night. The kobe beef was cooked just right (medium rare) and it goes very well with the sauce. The sauce had a very settle wine taste that blends perfectly with the kobe beef. The gratin dauphinois was fantastic too, very creamy and cheese. For those who love cheese taste, you'll love the side to the kobe beef. Also had the Grand marnier crème brulée: a bit sweet but the egg was silk smooth."
