Chef Michael Psilakis introduces his award-winning Greek-inspired cuisine to Westchester with the opening of MP Taverna, a modern interpretation of a traditional Greek tavern.

"I have pretty high standards, and wasn't expecting much after a horrible dinner at Half Moon a few days before. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, and the care of the waiter. Excellent meal: crab croquettes, lemon chicken and amaretto ice cream (could have had more crunchies though!) I would go back in a heartbeat! Only negative is VERY UNCOMFORTABLE CHAIRS AND BOOTHS."

"Our group of four visited MP Taverna for the 7th or 8th time. We have tasted and shared almost all the items on the menu. to our amazement, there seem to be few if any duds. All of the food is freshly prepared, nicely presented, and very, very good taste-wise.
Our favorites are the grilled octopus, pomegranite salad, sea bass, and even their hamburger is great. This trip the calamari was slightly undercooked, hence I witheld a star.
My only complaint is the busboys are overly aggressive about removing plates. My colleague had his fork poised in the air when one came by and started trying to grab plates. We shooed him away, but another one came by only a few minutes later and tried the same thing.
Highly recommended overall!"

"This was the first time we were at MP Taverna, and we were very pleasantly surprised. We were warmly greeted at the door, and seated promptly. The restaurant was busy, but not noisy and it was easy to have a conversation with our guests. The waitress came over right away to introduce herself, explain the menu and take drink orders. When she returned to take our order, she was very knowledgable as to what was on the menu, and how each item was prepared. She made several suggestion that were absolute delicious. Service was fast, the food was excellent, and the price was not over the top. We will go back to MP Taverna many times, and will recommend this restaurant too all of our friends. Thank you,"

"The food and service is always very good. The only exception I would raise is that the portion size of entres is a bit skimpy. I usually have the skirt steak and sausage which has two tiny pieces of each. All the appetizers however, are plentiful and tasty."

"Food is always good. Unfortunately wait for the food is unacceptable. This is not the first time we waited close to an hour to get our main course. And when we asked the waiter he stated the kitchen got slammed. Amazing as it was a weeknight and wasn't crowded. The manager walks around and says nothing. Again food is great but the wait ridiculous. Probably won't be back again. Needs new management."

"We had a very nice dinner - we were 4 people and we sampled quite a bit of the menu. The food was tasty and mostly very well prepared-and the room is very nice. Overall it was fine- but there was something just a little bit impersonal and distant about the entire experience. Perhaps it was just the end of a long week for the staff but the pace was off, and it felt very rote. Will try again though."

Fabulously light (almost downey) with a slightly spicy tomato bases sauce with lamp sausage.
Had the gyro-beef sliders which were served with a mid-eastern style yogurt sauce or a spicy feta spread.
The "Greek" salad (I think it was called "MP salad", was perfect fresh produce with just the right amount of lemony vinegarette with a decided olive taste...from the generous blend of different olives cut up in the salad.
Really first rate from the bread and olive oil, the the salad, the appetizer and entrees.
Heard that dinner can be super busy. We went for lunch @ 1PM on a Saturday and it was wonderful.
HIGHLY recommended."

"The octopuss appetizer was the best I've ever had. Tender beyond description and flavorful. The three dip appetizer was a highlight and the greek sausage was a stand out, as well. The branzino entree was delicious. The greek paella was generous with shellfish, but the sauce for the orzo was not as enjoyable as I would have expected considering how outstanding everything else we had was. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely return!"

"While the food and ambiance were both very good, there were several disappointing aspects to our experience. First, the service was incredibly slow; we had to ask for drinks, and dinner took about 45 minutes to come after our first courses.
The restaurant was out of two of our wine choices by the glass, and the espresso machine was broken. The exact same thing had occurred when we were there two weeks prior, and we had requested different wines. Additionally, when one of us asked for a substitute vegetable for the potatoes, she was told that would be OK but she wouldn't get the tomatoes and olives that came with her dish. it will be a long time before we return."

"We went as two couples to MP Taverna and enjoyed our dinner. The four of us ordered two each of the tuna special entree and the branzino entree. The MP Salad, macaroni and cheese appetizer, octopus salad were very good. The tuna entree special was a little disappointing- -slightly overcooked and not seared on the outside. We liked the Montepulciano wine. The waiter didn't ask if we'd like more coffee, and we had to wait somewhat long for water refills. Otherwise, we had a very good experience."

"Our 2nd visit, and the food and service was once again outstanding. Friendly vibe, not too formal, reasonably priced, perfect when you're in the mood for something Mediterranean or Greek. A hundred times better and more creative than your usual Greek restaurant."

"Loved the food. Atmosphere....not so much. It was very crowded, very noisy and not particularly pretty inside. The bar scene was wild and the entrance way is poorly planned so that parties trying to get to their seat are pushing past people waiting at the bar as well as people trying to leave. The waiter was solicitous, the food was prompt, and the wines were very good."
