"While it was an overall great experience, I was disappointed with the lack of a dress code. I realize we live in Austin, but I think men should be required to pull their pants up and cover their underwear. I don't mind spending good money for a great dining experience, but I don't think I should have to look at other's underwear."

"I have been to Truluck's and many other high end restaurants before and this time it just didn't make the cut. My wife and I both had Chilean sea bass and it was just okay. When I pay >$35 for a main course I expect it to be exquisite so it was a disappointment. Service was good and mixed drinks were excellent (my wife had Tiramisu Martini and I had a glass of Cabernet). In short save your money!!!"

"It was me and my husbands 8 year wedding anniversary, and we wanted somewhere romantic to eat and not be rushed. We have two boys, four and two, and usually when we go out to eat we try and get in and out as quickely as possible. My husband and I like to try new food as well and Trulucks was perfect. We had a reservation at 6:30 and we were seated right away, Bo was our waiter and he did an amazing job explaining things to us and answering all our questions about different options and combinations to try. We had a great, relaxing non rushed dinner! Thank you!!"

"All fish were very well cooked, although the plates should have been warmed up more. However, the quality of the fish was top spot and that made the entire difference.
Drinks are overpriced by 30% and not full glasses. The "shrimp under Bernaise" was a very poor addition to the Canadian Club; too small, lacking flavor and the sauce was not full, rich & creamy. Waiters need some retraining on how to load and unload tables."

"Who would have thought that Austin would have a really great seafood restaurant. We're from Florida and can't get stone crab. But at Truluck's, no problem. The oysters were perfect and the entrees hot and excellent. We were greeted with an enthusiastic reception and treated like valued coustomers. Couldn't have been better."

"I have been to this Truluck's before and can honestly say that it's a very worth while experience. This time I started with the Rhode Island oysters and stone crab claws. The claws were better than the oysters but I'm from Louisiana and its hard to beat a gulf oyster. For my entree I had the African lobster...not only was the presentation beautiful but the lobster was cooked to perfection and tasted like the most succulent piece of seafood from any ocean. I'll be honest, I'm not usually a lobster lover but since my fellow diners ordered a steak special, I wanted to get some thing grand also...and wow!!! Everyone at the table said my lobster was better than their dish. These people know how to treat wonderful ingredients!"

It was all basic seafood that was prepared and served to perfection which is what I expect of Truluck's and personally is the way I prefer my seafood. "What a fantastic restaurant. Went out for a rare special night out without the children and had read many great reviews of Truluck's. The reviews did not disappoint! We arrived a little early and were greeted by the very friendly staff and had some drinks in the piano bar. Great ambience and the piano player was fantastic. Inside the restaurant everything was perfect and the staff was spot on. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a nice night out."

"We had dinner at Truluck's downtown on a Saturday night and it was wonderful. We started in the bar for coctail hour which was terrific and even though we had reservations at 6:30, the staff was patient to wait for us to finish our drinks. After being seated in the dining room, we were graciously greated by our server who paid very good attention to our needs, what we liked, and even provided excellent recommendations. While I do enjoy Truluck's at the Arboretum, the one downtown beat it."

"After a few failed attempts at finding great food, we tried Truluck's and had probably the best meal of our trip. I agree with others that the prices were a bit high but I'm guessing it might have something to do with shipping in fresh seafood. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

"Very good food, but very small oysters on the platter. So noisy that we could bearly hear our waitress tell us the menu specials. I wish persons would keep their talking, laughing to a minimum since their loud behavior spoils the meal for other guests! I doubt if we will ever return because I felt like I was sitting at their table while these rude people babbled about with constant idle chatter!"

"The place was very alive but not overly crowded even on a Saturday night. We were seated immediately even though we arrived for our reservation early. The waiters were very attentive and the food was wonderful. The wine (a Ponzi Pinot Noir) was also very good.
The dessert tray looked fabulous although we didn't indulge. The pieces were more than enough for 3 or 4 people to share.
The only complaint i would have is that the order of Red Crab was $97.50. It was listed on menu as "Market Price". It was my mistake to not have asked, but I think at those prices the waiter should be telling you the price when he lists them as specials!! Otherwise, a very nice place to go in Austin on a Saturday. Conveniently located in downtown also."
