Bryant & Cooper opened in 1986 with big ambitions: to bring the top tier New York City "steak house experience" to Long Island. Not only would the very finest quality, hand picked prime aged steaks be served, but an ambiance would be created that makes everyone feel like they are part of a special private club. For membership...just make a reservation.
Founded by the three Poll brothers with two generations of restaurant ownership experience, Gillis, Dean and George learned at an early age that the secret of a great restaurant was to start with serving the very best.
That is why the steaks, chops and jumbo lobsters are selected on a daily basis, and only the freshest side dishes find their way to a plate served at Bryant & Cooper.
Over the years Bryant & Cooper has received superlative reviews for its entire menu. The New York Times has proclaimed it the "best steak house on Long Island."
"Food was/is great. (The fish is the hidden gem. Disappointed that there was/is no pork chop on the menu.) Side dishes, wonderful. Appetizers/Salads/desserts, good, but not as good as main courses/sides. Wine, solidly good, but not excellent or great, as the wine list should be, given how good the main course is. Wait staff was fine, but a little rushed (at the 7 p.m. Tuesday seating). Prices are, for a fine steak house, reasonable. Good for a celebration or business mtg. Bar dining scene looked like fun with a great deal of camaraderie. Place used to be, many years ago, Maneros, and the fun ambiance (from the patrons, including some kids all dressed up for, maybe, their first steak house visit) was wonderfully reminiscent."

"We've been coming here for many, many years & have yet to be disappointed. Great steaks properly cooked. Bryant & Cooper salad is always a treat. We were a table of 7, were seated comfortably & accommodated well. The seared tuna entree was good, but too well cooked at ends. They offer a mini filet mignon, a great option offering enough to bring home for a small second meal. Reservations on the weekends are a must. This is one of many steak-houses along an approx 10 mile stretch on Northern Blvd, & in our opinion one of the best!"

"I am not an avid steak eater butI must say that our porterhouse for two was delicious. The Caesar salad, raisin nut bread, and side dishes were great and our friends equally enjoyed their dinner. A great place for steaks!!"

"No one does Cajun steak better. I prefer the Cajun filet which isn't on the menu. Get the fried onions!! Skip dessert. It just isn't up to par in my opinion (although there are those who swear by the banana cream pie)."

"Food was great, very large portions. Very noisy, lots of hustle and bustle from the waiters. Very expensive. No handicapped accessible entry, lot of steps."

"Great food and service. They had about 7 waiters just on the side waiting for anything. However they were close enough to my table that I heard them talk about the female customers which should be done either after hours or in the back not near patrons."

"Always enjoy eating there. Delicious steaks...I think they put "the other place" to shame and besides a much broader menu. I had a steak, of course and my guest tried the Dover Sole. As good as it gets. Try the shrimp cocktail. I would love to try some of the other appetizers but I love shrimp and theirs are huge ,tasty and consistently good."

"Been coming for so many years!! great food!!! Never a disappointment. Greeted and seated as expected. Vibrant bar scene without being obnoxious! Steaks are great. "Card" salad is my personal favorite. Sides are amazing! Staff eager to help while retaining that certain steakhouse "attitude". The Cosmos are shaken and chilled to perfection, only problem being they ate not always a full meassure in the glass :( Once the bartender even gave some of MY cosmo to another diner for him to "try", leaving my drink really shy of a full meassure of the glass. It aggravated me. Aside from that, I return often and will continue to do so."

"My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time celebrating our one-year anniversary at Bryant and Cooper. Even though we come here all the time for regular dinners, this one was special. Particularly, we had an incredible waiter who was attentive, had a great attitude, and gave us a wonderful time. He accommodated all of our requests and we had a fantastic time."

"Always consistent but the kitchen always has an issue with "rare"---usually steak comes out medium rare at best. The food is pricey but dependable. Desserts leave something to be desired. Typical NY steakhouse scene."

"Tables on top of each other, Noise level was very very high much too high cause tables back up to each other, waiters brushed by my back, table behind me chair was so close every time she moved I felt it.Steak for two tee bone was very large @ 47.00 per head the meat was cooked rare as we asked but as beautiful as it looked it had very little taste in fact only the chared part around the outside of the meat had taste (the burnt Part) was good. Two good things the clames offered were either Cherrystones or littleneck a choice you very rarely get. They were great. Vegies were good, potato great. The wait staff very very good."

"Beware! This venue is not what it used to be!! They have been resting on their laurels and no longer pay attention to detail which in my opinion is a deal breaker. I dined here several months ago and ordered my favorite NY Strip. Ordered it medium (warm pink center) and it came out very well done. Foolishly I did not send it back only to regret it afterward as I did not enjoy it. Fast forward to this past weekend when I again ordered it medium and specifically told the waiter to order it between 130-135 degrees. Once again the steak arrived very well done without an ounce of pink showing in the middle. This time I sent it back and they cooked me a new steak. When it was served it was now red and bloody in the center Very disappointing me"

"For a restaurant like this, 2 hours to complete a meal is expected, regardless of the day of week. We were given our bill after just over an hour & the maitre' de made it known he wanted us out so he could sit the next group. We ordered 2 entrees, appetizers & sides + a bottle of wine (the waiter initially bought a French red when I asked for an Italian white). Pretty expensive night @this place, & we weren't rude to the staff.
Seating is very congested & noisy. Food was good, but I've had better service & more privacy at the local diner."
