"Although the hotel here is very overpriced and not that great, the restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The food was very good and the service attentive. I was disappointed with the view. I picked it to see the ocean but there is very little view of the ocean. Instead you look at the back of what looks like their power plant or something."

Review 3 for Ocean and Vine at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel
"The room is nice and has a good view. Outdoor dining is currently not an option due to the building exterior upgrades currently under construction. No biggie.
Appetizers were quite good. But the entrees were hit or miss. The snapper that was served smoked was completely overpowered by the smoking process - it was almost inedible. Other entrees were just fine.
Service was good when we were one of a couple of tables in the place but faltered a bit as the place started filling up.
Worth a look again, but this was on vacation for me, so your mileage may vary."

Review 5 for Ocean and Vine at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel
"Very disappointed in all aspects of this restaurant. We were a party of four looking for a nice evening out. First we were seated in a table that had a view. Trouble was that the view was the scaffolding of their construction. We asked to be moved and were accommodated. The server was mia and not attentive for most of the evening. We had to repeatedly ask for water. Finally, the food was mediocre at best. I had the halibut which tasted fishy. I don't know where there pastry chef comes from because all of our desserts were a huge disappointment. I had the s'mores which was so dry I could barely cut into. I would NOT recommend this place."

Review 7 for Ocean and Vine at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel
"Delicious food presented beautifully. We had a 5pm reservation which we thought was for dinner. Turns out they don't open until 6pm. They did accommodate us however and were gracious. The setting is beautiful right on the beach."

Review 8 for Ocean and Vine at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel
"Our server (monique) wasn't too friendly. Maybe it's because I didn't go for the drink she suggested (I can't drink tequila and she suggested a spicy margarita) and we ordered two apps (a flatbread in addition to a malibu platter), but changed our minds after a few seconds and decided to just order the platter without the flatbread and I guess these things ticked her off because she didn't come to us again except to ask if we wanted dessert and coffee."

Review 10 for Ocean and Vine at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel
"Fantastic view of SM Pier from the outside patio. Muscle Beach omelette was delicious. French toast was deep fried, a little greasy with good flavor. Very nice waiter but service was slow."

Review 12 for Ocean and Vine at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel
"It is adequate to good. If you can get a table outside looking at the ocean its terrific. The buffet was fairly priced for the location. The food was nothing special, but it wasn't bad either. Presentation is fair.
Could the restaurant and the staff be better, no question. Initially the host wanted to stick us inside when there were 6 tables open outside. I am glad my friend really wanted to sit out there. It was a bit lazy on their part. Also, they offer unlimited champagne and draft beer, but they ran out of two kinds of beer. How does that happen? They ran out of Sam Adams and Budweiser Black Crown.
The restaurant had no buzz at 1 pm on a Sunday on an absolutely beautiful day in Santa Monica. Just my 2 cents."

Review 13 for Ocean and Vine at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel
"Haven't been to Loew's for a long time. The views are incredible! We both had the $49 buffet. Even though they scrambled to get us fresh Eggs Benedict because they felt what was in the warmers wasn't edible, they were lukewarm when we received them. We kept discussing how the kitchen must be in another building from where the dining room was, because - no joke - we'd ask for water, and wouldn't see our waiter again for 15 minutes. We'd ask for champagne - same thing. Then it took a long time to get our check. I'm glad we chose the buffet, as at least that way we could get our food when we wanted it. Sorry, but there was A LOT of lag time between visits to our table. We don't know what the problem was."

Review 16 for Ocean and Vine at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel
"My husband and I dined at Ocean & Vine restaurant twice whilst staying at the hotel. The first evening was beautifully warm after a glorious sunny day, we were seated around an outdoor fire pit to eat our meal which was so lovely and romantic. The food, sea bass & swordfish, were both delightful, and cooked to perfection. The second evening we both had the pork chop, highly recommend, you must try it. If you dine here only once HAVE THE PORK CHOP, it was so succulent and cooked to absolute perfection. We do eat pork often, but this was the best we both have ever had, one of those meals you don't want to end. The waiting staff on both evenings were happy and helpful."

Review 17 for Ocean and Vine at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel
"Dining on the patio at sunset affords a great view of the Santa Monica Pier. However, the inattentive and slow service made for a frustrating dining experience. There are many more professional staffs at other restaurants in the area. I will not return to Ocean and Vine!"

Review 21 for Ocean and Vine at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel
"We requested outdoor seating, but upon arrival noticed that the outdoor seating area was closed for renovation. The reservation was made in advance, but obviously not read by the restaurant. Had the request been read, I could have been contacted and would have selected another restaurant. When we arrived at the podium, we were not greeted as the host was talking to another guest, watching a profane video with sound on the other guest's phone. I mentioned that we had requested outdoor seating, so I asked for a table close to the window, of which there were several open. He seated us at the back instead. We had to request the dinela menus. The waiter was not attentive. We had to request water several times desite few tables."

Review 23 for Ocean and Vine at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel
"The food was surprisingly good! Having been there only once before about two years ago I had forgotten how good the food was! The smoked beef tenderloin was excellent - it had to be prime quality - very tender and flavorful; I had Sonoma Duck Breast - the duck was superb! Tendered enough to be cut by a folk and beautifully paired with just a touch of black current sauce! The accompanied wheat berries were perfectly cooked and intensely flavored. Did not have dessert. The service was very attentive but not overtly intruding. The ambiance however is a little lacking - a large space with only few tables occupied, bare tables, bright lighting - needs a few minor changes to improve the atmosphere to attract dinner crowd. Will definitely go back."
