Long regarded in San Diego and abroad as one of the city's finest waterfront restaurants, Humphreys Restaurant features Modern Global Cuisine at its finest and overlooks the marina on beautiful San Diego Bay. After dinner, dance the night away in our adjacent Backstage Music Club to the finest live entertainment San Diego has to offer. Reservations made online are for the dining room only. Sunday Brunch: $43.95 for Adults and free for Children 4-12. If you want to enjoy the live jazz during your brunch, the reservation can not be made online.

"This was my first time at Humphreys. It was crowded, but thanks to open table I got right in with a reservation. The scenery was nice and the service was awesome. The food was very tasty and there was a great selection. I will definitely go to Humphreys again."

"went for the Sunday brunch, because we had heard about the Sunday Jazz Brunch on 98.1. What we didn't know is that if you want to actually HEAR the jazz music, you have to request a table in the bar area. So that wasn't a big deal, we'll know for next time. For those people who want the quieter ambiance of the water view, the good news is that you can't hear any of the music from the other dining area. The brunch itself is actually pretty good, although the dessert table was not as impressive as our wonderful server had told us. Neddy was totally awesome. great service, wonderful attitude and very attentive with the free champagne!

"A rarity: buffet with food that feels as good as restaurant food. None of the mass-produced feel which is quite a feat given the number of people this brunch buffet has to serve. The wait staff at the tables are outstanding although the front-desk staff feel more like they're running a busy office than a service environment. We had a great time and enjoyed our little birthday celebration."

"I have eaten at Humphrey's since early 1990's and have seen its ups and downs. Right now it is on a down cycle. The menu is more limited, the portions are smaller, and the decor is worn out with a stale smell. I believe they have taken to supporting the bar crowd and let their dinner quality subside. I was in a party of 4 and all remarked to the same points. I also noticed that, although the service was adequate, there were insufficient number of waiters."

"We were seated at a table with two heavy traffic areas on two sides even though two tables by the window were open. For the price, I would expect a better seat. "I think that the brunch was good, but overpriced, the food was not fantastic. Also I put on my reservation request that we were celebrating a birthday and requested a table by the windows. When we got there we were seated at a table in the back corner furthest from the windows and no mention was made about celebrating a birthday. Overall I was disappointed."

"It was my birthday celebration. This is one of my favorite restaurant. All staff were nice and everybody said Happy birthday to me. At the end, the waiter gave me a chocolate cake with a candle which was on them. I had a great birthday with my husband!!"

"The food was fair. We had the crab cakes, the calamari, and the steak for appetizers. I think the dip for the calamari was La Choy sweet and sour sauce and not made by the chef. The crab cakes and the steak were unmemorable. My husband and a friend had the filet mignon, and the sauce just overpowered the meat. I think that the sauce was also not a creation by the chef but made from powdered brown sauce. One of the fish dishes ordered by two from our party was salty. As mentioned, the food was not bad but not great either. We've eaten at this restaurant in the 80s, and now, I know why we never came back. The drinks were cheap, though."

The gray decor was very soothing and elegant; if only there had been a linen tablecloth, or some kind of tablecloth, to cover the formica-looking table. "Every time we visit San Diego we have Sunday Brunch at Humphrey's. The selection of food is excellent. My husband loves Humphrey's variety of seafood dishes. It is a nice relaxing atmosphere with beautiful views of the marina. We've never been disappointed. We will be back, as always, and would highly recommend it to others. The only reason our overall experience wasn't rated as outstanding was being told by our food server it was time for us to leave as there was a 2 hour time limit to allow others to dine. This was a first and considering the price paid to dine, it did not sit well with us."

"Celebrated my friend's 50th bday. We had 7 in our group. We were greeted and seated promptly. The service was excellent. The food was very good. I ordered the guava salad, grilled shrimp skewer and macadamia crusted sea bass and they were all delicious. I ordered a cabernet from Fallbrook. The only glitch was when the bill came out. We should of asked the waitress to separate the bill in advance to facilitate payment. Other than that, the overall experience was very good."

"After more than 6 years since my last visit, Humphrey's has proven that it's still worth the drive to Shelter Island. The redesgned dining room offered great water views and a terrific modern ambience. The space was truly comfortable...my wife and I easily settled in for a Valentine's Day dining experience that did not disappoint. Service was outstanding...the specialty drinks and cocktails were delightful. I enjoyed a petite filet that was perfectly grilled medium, and accompanied by white cheese grits and freshly steamed veggies. Such a pleasant alternative to standard mashed potatoes. My bride enjoyed the braised rib that simply fell from the bones. Creme Brulee' and coffee closed out the evening. Well done, Humphrey's...we'll be back."

"We (four adults and two grand children - 5 and 3 yr old) had a great time and appreciate the exceptional service for our family dining experience. My five year old grandson was excited about wearing his tie to a fancy restaurant. He was treated as an adult and had a great time. The diner was great too (Prime rib, New York strip, forest pasta, calamari, stuffed mushrooms, white chocolate cheese cake, apple bread pudding, lemon cheese cake and chocolate bon bon). A friend in Tucson recommended going to Humphreys and we are glad we did. It was a highlight of our short weekend trip to San Diego. I highly recommend them."

"Been here to eat once before some 20 years ago seemed a bit more party atmosphere then. This trip was on Valentine's Day nice quiet and romantic. The waiter was outstanding been there 30 years he said! WOW I'd love to have him in my Restaurant... food was very good not for those who can't bit the price though most I've spent for two."

"Restaurant was good but not great. Having to buy bread seems pretty chintzy. Servers both in the bar and restaurant didn't seem very happy or attentive. Mind you this was Valentine's Day so you'd think they or the restaurant in general would make a special effort, but not at all. Convenient when you are staying at the hotel but would not eat there again if I wasn't staying there."

"We had a nice brunch but I had requested a window table for a special occasion. The restaurant was not at all crowded and yet our request wasn't noted. The server was fine at best. The food was good (the omelet bar/chef was great). We noticed there were no scrambled eggs on the food line. Some of us were disappointed by this. I liked the atmosphere except it would have been nice to hear the music a little from the bar area or have some other music in our room. Almost too quiet."

"We ate in this restaurant, because we were staying at their hotel. The food was good. The prices were okay. I can't say it's the best place to eat in the area. But if you just need a good dinner, you can get that here. We were there more for the band that was going to play after dinner. It was an anniversary for us. I must say the desert we were given (without charge) for our anniversary, was better than our entrees by far. This restaurant has a FABULOUS pastry chef on site. We'd eat there again...."
