Panache Restaurant
There is no denying Panache's elegance. The walls are done in a soft shade of wheat, the bar is long and sleek and bouquets of flowers dot the dining room. The dining room chairs are bright yellow, 1950s style lounge artwork hangs on the walls and some weekend nights, the line to get in stretches down the block. It's a jolt of energy across the street from the quiet Mayflower Hotel. Panache serves a range of small plates that make up a gustatory tour of Europe and beyond. Diners can also order one of the larger plates, which include seared Ahi Tuna with a Mango Salsa and Rack of Lamb with Pommery Mustard and Whipped Potatoes. A Three course menu is offered nightly for $35. Additional features are added every week for lunch.

"We dined at Panache early on a Friday night. Our table had the tuna and the crabcakes. I've had better crabcakes out of the frozen food section at the grocery store. I've had better tuna from the frozen food section of the grocery store. Life is too short and there are too many good restaurants to waste your time and money at Panache."

"We enjoyed sitting at an outside table at Panache after work last Friday, enjoying selections from the cocktail and wine list and sharing some of the small plate dishes among those of us at the table. Grilled calamari is especially delicious, but we enjoyed all of the 6 or 7 small plate dishes we ordered.
If you go for drinks after work, the bar is lively and fun. One of the bar tenders who's there on Fridays, Ian, is a particularly nice guy. Remembers our names. Came over to chat with us when we were seated outside the bar area.
Panache is convenient to our office so we risk becoming regulars. The nice servers, happy hour drink specials, and very good food make it a good choice."

"The food was good but the menu was somewhat limited if you do not want tapas. The 3 course fixed menu is also limited. The service was very slow. The outside tables were full and a few inside were filled yet the service was slow (not enough staff)."

"tood was for the most part ok - some things were really good (fried calamari) whereas other plates were not so hot (cold anitpasti plate). Extremely loud and a real lack of anything appealing to look at inside. The bar in the back looked like it came out of a frat house - shoddily built and nothing to it. Service was pretty good though"

"The food will make you return. The inexperienced staff will make you think twice. Everyone was nice and they trued to please. yet, our empty wine glasses failed to send any message. As we started ordering desert, the, we were asked if we wanted to buy a second bottle of wine."

"Good food, fairly priced, great service by a friendly and courteous staff. Only weakness was the wins selection as they were out of several of the choices (we did find a nice Cab, but a bit pricey for a casual business dinner. We will go here again. "Let me start by saying that the food was good, and our server was very pleasant. The ambiance is nice as well. Now the negatives. The restaurant does not have its own valet parking. A parking lot next door charges up to $17, depending on length of stay. Despite having a reservation, there was not able available when I arrived. Then the wheels fell off. My drink order was wrong (jack and coke, instead of Jack and Ginger). Our entrees took almost an hour, and were cold when they arrived. One member of my party ordered a meal with fettucine, and got Risotto instead. For our trouble, the manager did discount our check by $50. First time at Panache, and most likely last."

"The ceviche and the creme brulee were both outstanding! Everything else was also very good. We had a terrific waitress - it was busy, but still she took the time to be very personable, make excellent recommendations, and accommodate every little request of ours. Overall a good experience. Only thing is, it's pretty loud in there - I had to lean over the table to hear what my partner was saying sometimes. Sitting outside in the summer would be fun."

"Love this place and go here frequently for work lunches, but had the oddest experience this time -- a companion ofmine ordered iced tea to drink and was told they were out and waiting for a delivery later. They are outsourcing the brewing of iced tea -- has the world come to this? There is a CVS around the corner where they could have purchased tea bags and brewed some right in the kitchen. Given the popularity of this drink, I found the fact that they were out of it andunable to come up with a Plan B to be truly bizarre, and kinda lazy."

"Not my best experience. Service was very slow (although it seemed other table with other waiters/ waitresses, did not have that issue. The French union soup was good, the sea food risotto lack sea food. It was incredibly salty and the peaces of sea food was about 4.

"We went to Panache after reviewing the restaurant here on OpenTable. Although we've never really gone the "tapas" route in place of entrees, we did it this time because they looked so great. "Had a TravelZoo coupon that gave us any 5 tapas dishes and 2 glasses of wine. We put together a nice meal from that--carpaccio di carne, calamari, salmon, lamb chops, and petit filet mignon,all of which we shared. The portions were just right for us -- but they wouldn't be enough for those with heartier appetites. Though it was early and there were tables galore, we got ushered to a table for two tucked way back in a corner, with a floppy curtain separating us from the end of the bar area. Thus, the hit on ambiance. (We had come directly from work, dressed in our business casual best, and with backpacks; definitely got the vibe that the host didn't want us at a table near the front. We could have said something; he could have asked.)"

"Panache is very conveniently located on DeSales Street in downtown Washington, D.C. The staff are friendly, the food is excellent, the price is just right, and the house red is amazing. "We went in with a coupon from travel zoo. The waiter, while very helpful, not very happy go see that we had a coupon. We got one additional item and I felt we were overcharged. Brought this to the manager's attention. She pulls out her phone and uses the calculator on the phone. Oops she says I shouldn't have added in my head. UNPROFESSIONAL. Realize too that this was after waiting near 20 minutes for the check. If you don't mind dealing with this kind of actions, the shrimp is awesome, and so is the filet mignon. The rest was pretty average."

"My beau and I had a travelzoo coupon for 5 tapas and two glasses of wine for two people. We both enjoyed our wine greatly, and ordered 5 vegetarian tapas (three cold ones and two warm ones). The buffalo mozzarella was amazing - it tasted incredibly fresh and delicious. I am slightly disappointed by the tomatoes (which were flavorless), but then again, it is the middle of winter so what should I really expect. The warm mushroom tapas had little flavor, but the mushrooms were good. We also got the zucchini purse, which was delicious."

"This little gem is tucked away behind the Mayflower Hotel and we are so glad we found it. Every dish was excellant, we wanted to lick our plates. The wines we ordered were lovley, the service was imbecable... not too intrusive but always aware of our needs. I can't wait to go back. What a lovely gem!"

"Great service. I told my daughter that if she ever worked as a waitress, our server should be an example of how to treat the client. She was very responsive to every need or request, but was not intrusive and came exactly when needed, but no more. The food was good; we appreciated having the range of tapas for light eaters. But portions are still generous - 2 tapas a person still left leftovers for lunch. The amaretto sauce on the shrimp risotto was very good, but they could have added another shrimp or two to the dish."

"We went for my boyfriends birthday, after having been here several times, I knew what to expect. Great food, great service, and a casual atmosphere that lends itself to sitting around and chatting for a while. I had put in my Open Table reservation that it was my boyfriends birthday, and they treated us to glasses of champagne and an amazing dessert. They sat us in a huge curved booth that was very romantic, and we had an amazing waiter!"
