West on Centre is an 80 seat restaurant and bar located on Centre Street in Boston's West Roxbury neighborhood. West features a main dining room with open kitchen, classic mahogany bar, and relaxing lounge area. Their goal at West is to create a neighborhood meeting place that combines style, friendliness, great food and drinks that makes it the perfect night out with friends, neighbors, or just the two of you. Featuring a private dining area, chef's table, and open fireplace, West serves up casual American food, creative cocktails, and offers an affordable wine list.
"It's a good local place to grab some food, but it's not exactly a foodie's dream. The food is consistently fine, the service the same. Not much to say other than I'll go back again next time the location works to meet a friend for a bite."

"We enjoyed our recent experience at West on Centre for a nice Mother's Day brunch. The food was excellent and the service was very good overall. It was extremely busy due to it being Mother's Day, and the only option for brunch was the buffet; you couldn't order off their regular menu. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time though. We didn't find out it was buffet only until we walked in the door. However, thankfully, the food was top notch and we were happy with it. Somehow though, I believe it should have been made clear to diners ahead of time that Mother's Day brunch was buffet only so that we weren't surprised by it when we arrived."

"We had an early dinner at West on Centre on a Monday afternoon. The service, food, and ambiance were exceptionally good. The fish was perfect and the soups and salads were delightful. Very friendly staff and very attentive service."

"We had a reservation and had to wait a few minutes, no big deal, but the hostess was super apologetic and we were offered free apps. Of course we partook:-) We loved the pulled BBQ tacos! Everyone's dinner was very nice. All the portions are very generous. Nice night. We'll be back."

"This was my third time at West on Centre. The service and atmosphere are splendid and the ambiance is pleasant. The food is above average, in general, however I ordered the Chicken Picatta during my third visit and despite the waitress enthusiastically describing the chicken in this dish as particulary moist, mine was very dry. I was unable to eat it and luckily my husband was kind enough to share his fish and chips with me. On prior visits I had the steak tips, their signature dish, and it was wonderful. The fish and chips, on my second visit, was very good. After my most recent experience, however, I would hesitate to recommend this place to friends."

"Food was great. Excellent service too. Kitchen was a little slow but made up for it with a free dessert for my sons birthday. I had the bolognese and a glass of Malbec. Great. Others had burgers and loved them. Also great wings for an app."

"The menu is small. Generous portions but not a fit for foodies. It is the typical everyday restaurant. Though the facilities looked like a upscale restaurant. It is a good hangout spot to grab a few drinks"

"Nice experience. Attentive service, good food, reasonable prices--tables are situated nicely in the dining room so no-one is crowded. On street parking a bit difficult to locate but not impossible."

"My wife and I have been to West several times. This time we went with 2 other couples, one of which went for the firsty time. Server Sarah was fabulous as was manager John. Food was outstanding and we had a full evening with our friends as well as the staff. We had 6 bottles of wine and enjoyed each of them."

"West on Centre is an all around gem. Good food, friendly but not intrusive service, good ambience. The only reason that I marked the food down is their potato options. The french fries are string fries. String fries are almost impossible to cook perfectly. Even if they are done perfectly, they cool quickly and become soggy in the presence of any liquid. Too, they contain too much fat and too little potato. The fat content (tasty) may be the reason for West's use of string fries. That strategy fails because of the sogginess factor. Emulate McDonald's french fries without the excess salt. Secondly, the potatoes au gratin are served in a cake presentation. Easier to prepare, but fail miserably even to remotely compare to the real thing."
