"I love going to Biella! Every bite is absolutely wonderful, the wine list is excellent and the service is so warm. The price is very fair, especially for such creative and delicious combinations. "I always enjoy Biella's. The menu items are mostly unique to this restaurant which makes it a special dining experience. The service is always outstanding. In our opinion this is hands-down the best restaurant in the western suburbs. One has to go downtown to find a restaurant of equal quality."

"Our server was friendly, but but not helpful: "Everything on the menu is good." "We sell lots of that, so it must be good." He placed our appetizer order but forgot to place our dinner order and came back to see if we'd like to order. The food flavor was good or better, but nothing to make me "have" to come back. The fingerling potatoes were under cooked on both of our orders. Inconsistent quality. I expect more for the premium prices."

"We have been to Biella a few times and consider it to be a very good restaurant. It's located in beautiful Excelsior on Water Street. We had a great dinner there for our anniversary recently and really enjoyed the mussels and the scallops (a perennial favorite) as well as the rib eye and the penne bolognese. It can be a little noisy because of the open space and the plaster walls but it's definitely a charming atmosphere and delicious food. Our waiter, Raymond, was also very professional and attentive."

"Biella has a limited menu, but I appreciated the half-order options, so we could try a few things, and I could still order a glass of wine; all under $60. The salad was great, and my husband enjoyed the shortribs. I opted for 1/2 order of lobster ravioli, with 2 large shrimp, which was delicious. For those wishing to share a larger portion, by ordering an entree, but want to skip potatoes, the restaurant could offer a salad option. Biella's house red was as good as a valipolcella, and was only $5. Though our server was very pleasant, she was disappointed that we didn't order a bottle of wine or an entree each. At the end, she agreed 1/2 orders were a good option, when I said it was our 1st visit. A comp taste of sorbet wd be apprec."

"It is a great little restaurant with one significant drawback. It is just horribly noisy. Too loud to carry on a conversation. Why do all the guests think they need to yell at each other? This is a problem with lots of restaurants. Biella is not alone. I sometimes wonder if the restaurants encourage this as a means of "turning tables" more quickly. We ate the wonderful food and got out because we could not talk."

"I was expecting great Italian as I have heard so many great things about this place but it has so many other great selections. A nice array of seafood (the sea bass the best I've had in a while)! A couple men in our group had the steak and commented it was better and like half the price of the steak at the downtown steakhouses! Pastas were great as expected! Desserts homemade as we could tell. Service professional and attentive! Great selection of locally brewed beer. Decor right from the Old World! We will be back very soon! "The appetizers were great, but the entrees were not good, overooked and over seasoned. Our hot molten cake was not even warm. To top it off another guest was over served by the bar and fell into our table. This person was also sampling food from the plate of another diner they did not know as described to us after this person fell into my lap. Not what you would expect from a restaurant described as upscale. We had wave down the mgr to talk to someone on staff about this."

"We have been here a few times and have been less impressed with each visit. We have decided not to go back. The food is good, but the ambiance is loud and not the romantic spot we are looking for (and it could be). Their lighting is all on the side walls with nothing in the middle of the room. All of the 2-seat tables are on the side, making them too bright. The larger tables for groups (and kids) are all in the more dimly lit middle. Odd."

"From the minute we walked in this place was it! Greeted by the owner and service was professional and non rushed. Scallop and Mussel appetizers were perfect and fresh! We even had a third as I had to try the Beef Tartare. It was right on the money. We split the Caesar and it was perfect. The Seabass melted in my mouth and the Ribeye was as good or better than any Steakhouse! Desserts are made in house they said and I totally believe it! A great place for a date as we had but also would be good for friends or clients! We will be rushing back to Biella! We heard they have a great Happy Hour too!"

"Another fantastic dining experience at our favorite restaurant west of St. Paul. We fall more in love with the place with every visit. My wife and I started with the mussels and scallops..AMAZING! She also had the chicken ravello and I had the bolognese. We cant wait to bring our friends with next week. Our server was accommodating yet didn't rush us (I cant stand it when a server hovers trying to turn the table). The owner stopped by our table to make sure everything was perfect (He even recognized me from previous visit..:).

"Overall Biella was okay, the food was good, but nothing outstanding. Also, the corkage fee of $25 is above average and only one bottle allowed per table, no matter how many couples at the table. We probably won't be returning, I can have good italian at a lot of other locations at a much more affordable price."

"After reading the reviews I expected so much more from Biella. Both my husband and I were disappointed in the subpar food, small portions, high prices and rushed service. In fact we went elsewhere for dessert. We will not be going back again."

"My wife and I enjoyed a terrific late, Valentine's Day dinner at Biella. The mussels as an appetizer were amazing as was my wife's sea bass and my scallops (the peas were so fresh I thought it was summer time). Plate presentation was beautiful without being too "artsy." The flourless chocolate cake for dessert was perfect. Thank you for an excellent dinner Biella."

"This is the second time I've gone to Biella and had atrocious service. The first time I hadn't had reservations, and this time I did. We were seated promptly and then...nothing. After thirty minutes, someone asked if we'd be helped, and then there was some confusion if we even had a server. We had a mish-mash of servers over the night, so it was hard to know who to flag down during the long breaks between service and there was no body to check back on how we liked our food, if we needed more wine, etc. Our primary server seemed to be the bartender, who had more than enough on her plate to have to shoehorn us in. In the meantime, the owner was seated at the bar, eating and chatting to other patrons."

"Our visit to Biella was the first time. We had heard about it from friends and Open Table reviews. The dinner was excellent and it was as excellent as everyone said it was. The owner stopped by our table, visited, made the experience feel welcoming and we were important. Customer Service was excellent. Food was wonderful!"

"Busy place day after VDay. Waitress needed to be asked for bread, like if they serve it, I also asked for anchovies on my salad after it came, I was told they are served on request. I do not like that, maybe just me. If I order lobster, I expect it to be served with butter, I do not feel I should have to ask for it. Food was great!"

"Biella's was a very pleasant surprise, especially since our first visit was on Valentine's Day. The service was outstanding and the menu quite varied. My braised beef was delicious...moist and tender while my wife's sea bass was superb. A real sleeper was their delicious coffee and their creme brulee was probably the best we've ever had. Definitely will be re-visiting."

"So sorry to report that the wonderful fresh tasting meals we once had there have gone the way of the carelees chef. Everything was oversalted. I can't bleieve how overly spiced and salty the mussels were and how salty the sea scallops were (a chef really should be careful with scallops cause they are naturally salty right out of sea), and the fish was crazy with citrus zest and salt so that it completely overwhelmed the fish. So sad. I will say that our wine was reasonably priced and perfectly chilled and my husband said his martini was amazing. Go for drinks and happy hour snacks as the location and atmosphere is great."
