Blowfish Restaurant and Sake Bar was established in the Spring of 2003 when the doors were opened to this landmark dining destination in Toronto’s stylish King West district.
Mirroring this fusion of old with new, classic with modern, traditional with contemporary, the menu, wine and sake lists combine Japanese and Pan-Pacific with European and North American tastes. Featuring a brilliant combination of innovative gourmet sushi, complimented by a menu of hot and cold plates for sharing, these seemingly far flung influences and selections come together seamlessly in a memorable dining experience.
"Great food, great service and great ambiance. We got out of the cab and wasn't sure we were at the right spot until we saw the little sign. It was almost a little hole in the wall. Service was great - the waitress forgot one of our rolls but quickly put the order in and it was on the house which was very nice and unexpected. Overall a great place to eat and affordable (drinks are quit pricey but the cocktails are 3oz each).
Would recommend and go again! Thanks,
Jessica"

"Although, the food was very well presented and tasted good, the service at this restaurant was very rushed. I felt as i was picking up my last piece of sushi, my plate was being lifted from under me. Furthermore, as we were waiting on our last dish, the server was beginning to clear our whole table, so we asked about our last order and the server said he would check with the kitchen, several minutes later our original server informs us she forgot about it. We were not impressed at that point so we decided to forget about the order and leave. It appears this restaurant wants to rush you out so they can get more people in. I do not think i will ever go to this restaurant again."

"Great date place. Food tasted absolutely amazing - which was great since my date was a foodie. It is on the expensive side and portions are small - but it's the kind of place where you go for the taste and not to walk out feeling bloated. :) Definitely recommend this to anyone who likes great tasting food. Eat slowly and savour every bite for the full experience."

"This is possibly the best Japanese food in the city. I didn't like the pan-fried scallops - overdone. The black cod is delicious but it is better at Edo. The fish tacos, the Ebi shooter, the waygu gyoza - get out of town - they are sensational. The whisky sour - made with Glenmorangie - cosmic"

"Food was FANTASTIC! And as a cook its hard to find places where food is extremely well done. I've never had such fresh delicious flavour packed sushi in my life! I recommend the spicy salmon roll and the lobster shrimp spring rolls with the zesty sesame mayo. The nailed it good wise but it was loud and bar like around 930-10 so if you want a quiter evening id go for dinner at 7 or so. Service was great although it did take a while for our drinks to come but the explanation of each dish was great and informative."

"Our food was very good however our service was terrible. We waited over half an hour for drinks. I asked also for a tall glass of water and received it at the end if the night. We ordered a very nice wine but it also took over half an hour to receive. Our bill was over $1100. This is big money. We should receive incredible service when your paying this much money. I am very disappointed and dissatisfied. I'm sorry for this."

"First place we visited while visiting Toronto. Very trend space with house music and great lighting. Entertaining people watching with more than a few wannabe Kardashians seating around us.
Service was excellent. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. Her recommendations were spot on. Our one choice that she was tepid on turned out to be not our favorite. Should have taken all her recommendations.
The Hamachi in hot oil was wonderful. Spicy tuna with rock shrimp roll was the best we've ever had. I could eat that every day. Cocktails were good and wine was spot on.
To end the night our server gave us a recommendation of another place up the road on Queen St. We stopped there for dessert and had a wonderful time!"

"Consistently one of the best in Toronto! It is not for the bargain hunter for sure , but worth every cent! Let your server lead you through the menu for best results!"

"Great sushi and sashimi. Ordered two rolls both were outstanding and the tuna belly sashimi was fantastic. Service was great, this is a great place for a secluded meal."

"They definitely show it to your face that they don't want you taking your time there. They push you so much to leave right after you're done with your order. We were there for only 1-1:30 hrs and got quite a few things and drinks even, but the moment the food was over, the waitress clearly pushed us to leave much earlier than we wanted. It's sad you spend this much money and they treat you like this.

"We celebrated a friend's dinner and the atmosphere was perfect. The crowd was a mix of late 20s and older, the atmosphere was louder but there was still a ver calm and cool ambience about the place. Our group consisted of 15 people, couples and singles and we ordered a few dishes to share and a few different martinis. Drinks and food were both excellent. A great spot for groups, friends, and couples! Very chic and urban without going overboard."

"There was one waiter to serve an entire restaurant... terrible service. First main came before appetizer. Appetizer came before drinks...
Unimpressed for a $100 bill.
The location at Bay St. is much better.
A family came in mid way through our meal and was treated like royalty. Everyone's food stopped coming and it was obvious the kitchen was preparing their food instead. 30 mins between 2nd and 3rd course... ridiculous.
Left a tip out of pity and not for good service."

"Excellent food, freshest inggredients, friendly and very efficient service. Four of us ordered more than 15 different items and our waitress remembered everything without writing it down. Not a single mistake, quite impressive :)The best is to order many different items and then share since every dish is unique and delicious experience. Save some room for desert too - the green tea panna cotta and mango tempura accompanied with sencha green tea are a must!"

We were impressed, both of us work in the industry an can be very critical, however the food at blowfish was great, service attentive yet not intrusive. The restaurant was almost empty when we went in for our 7:00 pm reservation however on a Sunday night it was surprising to see the restaurant full up late, by 8:00 pm the restaurant was busy and bar also had a few guests.
If I want to be fanatical I would say my Manhattan was not the best I have had, my wife had the Bombay mash, which was delicious. The menu and selection of cocktails are great however the preparation missed the umph!!!
Overall a great experience and I would certainly return."

"Great ambiance, loved the purple lighting and ultra-modern feel. Drinks were okay, extremely expensive for portion size. Chose to have the pan-seared tofu steak, absolutely delicious - also tried the sweet pea, kewpie, and asparagus brown rice roll - this is a great saturday night meal for a couple looking to try something different. Liked the bowl of edamame they brought before our meal."
