Caffe Amante is located on the second floor of Fifth Avenue Place, nestled between the Golden Triangle and the Cultural District. A private room is available with an interesting view of the Triangle, great for lunch, dinner meetings or rehearsal dinners. Main dining room reservations available online, please call for private functions. Full bar and wine list available. Free parking for guests after 4PM daily.
"There are several reasons besides good food that I would recommend this resturant but most of them are not on the checklist for this survey. They are as follows: The price of the food is very reasonable and the portion size is just what I like, not so big you have to take half of it home with you but still enough to fill a big eater. They validate parking which makes dinner and a show in town very attractive. The tables are spaced out so you can have a conversation without screaming at each other. They have an area separate from the rest of the dinning room that would accommodate a larger group and would not interfer with other dinners. The bar area is also separate so it does not interfer with dinners who do not like a noisy environment."

"The Salmon salad is always a winner. Was having a business lunch and only had 1 hour. That was no problem. Service was prompt and food was very good."

"My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Cafe Amante. We had our pre-race meal there prior to running the Pittsburgh Marathon. We had a reservation and we seated immediately by the friendly hostess. Our waiter was enthusiastic, attentive and very professional. The food was excellent, seasoned perfectly and served promptly. I would recommend Cafe Amante to antone who enjoying a quiet dining experience."

"Great for pre-concert dinner. Great food at unbelievably great prices. Efficiently, friendly, and professional service. Relaxed atmosphere. Try the Veal with peppers or the Virginia Spots. Highly recommend."

"Caffe Amante is a nice restaurant to go to prior to a show or concert in the Cultural District. They validate your parking, so you can park for free. The food and service is good, nothing special. The prices are appropriate for what you get. The service is a little off -- we had appetizers, salads, and an entree, and they brought the entree before we were done with our salads. The wait staff sort of crowded the table with the food and made no apologies that our table didn't have room for everything and that we were being rushed. The food quality was good -- not gourmet, but adequate."

"Overall disappointing experience. The convenience of this restaurant was that we could have a liesurely dinner, then walk to the opera. The menu offers basic choices, nothing extraordinary, and somewhat limited. The food was ok, but again nothing spectacular. Also, our server complained about her "hot flashes" everytime she appeared at our table. Initially comical, but eventually annoying. This restaurant's saving grace is it's extraordinary view of the bridge and river, which was especially fine on a spectuacular Spring evening and as I mentioned above, it is convenient to walk to a downtown event such as the opera or symphony. Would not recommend."

"Being a resturant frequently used by theater goers, I was pleased to find protion size one that would not overload, and cause me to snooze before the end of first act.
Friendly wait staff, did well with the rush of hungry diners."

"The included salads aren't anything to write home about, but they aren't bad either. Overall the portion sizes are very reasonable, as opposed to some of the finer dining establishments where they sell you an entire steer. I shall return!"

"The food was very good! Our waitress was very nice, but could use a little support in wine education. My only disappointment was the decor. It was very dated and the chairs were awful. A facelift is needed. The cost for our meals was very reasonable (surprisingly so for downtown). Will probably return."

"We went here on a Saturday night before a show at 8:00. We thought our 6:30 reservation would be plenty of time & we were mistaken. The restaurant was fairly empty & it appeared that only one waitress was on duty which made for extremely slow service. The food was average but fair for the price paid. This is a very nice restaurant & I would consider returning again but with so many choices to eat in the Cultural District might choose someplace else next time."

"We were quite pleased with Cafe Amante. The food was good and at a very reasonable price. I loved the portion sizes. They gave you an adequate amount of food that fit the price. The atmosphere was nice. It's a good place to go when seeing a show in town. We will frequent Cafe Amante again."

"Had high hopes on a hearty Italian dinner before the theater, but service was extremely slow and food was mediocre. We had the crab cocktail, which needed some more seasoning, veal piccata (small portion, but tender and tasty), and chicken Alfredo (okay, but nothing special and small portion). Prices were extremely reasonable though."

"I love the fact that you can park free in downtown Pgh and walk to Heinz Hall. It is so handy. The food is very good, wide selection, plenty of seating, low noise, reasonable pricing, and not oversized portions. Overall, an outstanding find!"

"This restaurant has a very basic menu, but they will allow you to mix and match. For example, I ordered a basil pesto with salmon, which were both on the menu separately. There is nothing innovative or creative about this menu, but it suffices. If you really want to talk and be heard, this is the place to go."

"This was a perfect place to eat on an evening when we were going to a show later at Pittsburgh Public Theatre. The food was good, the prices were reasonable it was nice and quiet. Wine list was not expansive but adequate and was also reasonably priced. It was a short walk to the theatre. Parking was equally convenient as it was in the same building as the restaurant and therefore also close to the theatre. Parking was also validated and therefore no added cost to the evening. The restaurant has reserved parking spots."

"Although our server (Robert) was also responsible for attending to a private party as well as our table, his attention and service was outstanding - our orders were served in a timely manner and we we allowed enough time between to enjoy our dinners and company. While I can look out my office window directly at Caffe Amante this was my first experience dining there - I'll definitely recommend it as our next choice dining downtown."

"We've chose Cafe Amante several times for our "pre-symphony" dinner and we've never been disappointed. The staff has always been very friendly and conscious about getting us out in time for the show. The food is great!"

"Good experience. Staff was helpful and polite. Only issue with food was that my wife had ordered salmon and asked that it be slightly seared on both sides. Was overcooked and a little fishy tasting according to her."
