Collectively, we’ve been in the steakhouse business for as long as you’ve been craving a truly unique dining experience – maybe even longer. At Ward’s House of Prime, we learned what you wanted from a steakhouse and then we designed a restaurant where high-end entrees are served at a reasonable price in an atmosphere that’s upscale yet relaxed.
At our steakhouse, we want you to feel just as comfortable ordering full-plate entrees in the main dining room as you would ordering from the bar menu and watching sports in the lounge. While prime rib is our specialty (served every day), we also give special attention to seafood, chicken, veal and vegetarian entrees as well as our lighter fare of appetizers, sliders and stonefire flatbreads. And we offer a variety of martinis, beers, cocktails and wines by the glass – as well as an extensive list of 500 wines by the bottle, all at a fair price.

"I want so bad for Ward's to always live up to expectations... and the food always does... other things however sometimes get in the way. I've been to Ward's three times now and there always seems to be something. First time it was the HVAC that left us freezing (our server apologized and did a great job trying to make up for it) the second our sever seemed over taxed and rushed, though she had a great demeanor. And this time again it seemed the server had too much to worry about or maybe was a bit green. I spent years as a bartender in MKE and by no means have I ever had incompetent service at Ward's, just that I want it to be better. The food is amazing the design and layout well done the decor very nice. I will keep going back."

"The food was excellent, I think we just got a bad waitress. She didnt tell us anything about the menu-I heard the specials from another waitress at the table next to us. Also for two of us it took over two hours to get and finish our meal--slow dining."

"Why advertise you are a prime rib restaurant when you serve bad prime rib? We went to the Wards House of Prime for the Downtown Dinning Experience. We were celebrating my daughters 19th birthday. We all ordered the Downtown Dinning special. The soup was good but very small. The prime rib was very fatty and hard to slice. The seasoning was good but hard to enjoy the meat when every other bite was grainey, fatty mess! I asked mutiple times for extra sour cream but it never came. No one brought us more rolls when we ran out early in the meal. The dessert was a store bought cake mix. Nothing special. We never got to celebrate our daughters birthday since the restaurant failed to give us a candle. We won't be back ever!"

"Our waitress was pleasant. I had bbq burger and wife had steak sandwich. I would have tried their steak but it was pricy. I observed other meals being served. $12 salads, 4" baguettes with chicken salad. Tv's tuned to espn and sport news, although patrons we're on business lunch meeting or couples out for lunch downtown. I wasn't sure if they were going for the sports bar and grill type or an upscale premium steaks and burgers with extra large salads priced at $12+.
Ruby Tuesday's would be a better choice."

"Over the last 4 years I have attended Ward's 5 times. My first experience was excellent all the way around from host, wine, food and service which diffidently prompted me to return for another dinning. My second experience was good. service declined food was still excellent. My last two experiences recently May 2013 and June 2013 was just horrible with service. Waiting for an initial server was 20 minutes June 2013 during a non crowded lunch hour. May 2013 food had declined to fair. Salmon was over cooked, and brussel sprouts (which have normally been very delicious) was just horrible, burnt (not carmalized) and very oily."

"I was looking forward as to dining at Wards to try it out as part of Downtown Dining Week. There were great reviews on the web so was anticipating a good experience. I went off menu to standard; had the prime sandwich (namesake should be great); it was a salt lick; not toasted properly; the meat was horrible and more fat pieces than slices; I think they saved up all the scraps when carving and throw it on the sandwich. The potato salad was excellent though. The service good. The room was pretty.
Downtown Dining Week provides people a chance to try out restaurants so they can return with guests later. I'm won't be returning to Wards but found another gem that will be scoring my business."

"We were able to get in and out during our lunch (1 hour) and were even able to have dessert. Banana Foster was excellent as was the prime rib sandwich and the strawberry salad. Sandra L., our waitress, was excellent, very pleasant and efficient."

"My meal was a real hit from start to finish. I was a solo, late-night diner and sat in the lounge area. I started with the ahi tuna appetizer and went with the bone-in ribeye for my entree as the only prime rib that they still had this late in the evening was medium or past. Totally understandable. The appetizer was phenomenal and the steak was one of the top three that I've ever had. Even the house salad was creative, unique and distinct. My server Blair was a total pro. She was around when needed, but left me alone to watch the TV's and play Words with Friends on my phone when I didn't need anything. Blair rocks!"

"I come here often enough to know what items are gluten free. Just weird exchanges with my server made the evening awkward. I ordered my usual prime rib with salad and a baked potato, and told her I'm gluten free. She came back, and said that the prime rib isn't gluten free. I told her I come here all the time, and the chef said that it is. Then she said she would ask the chef. I asked her who she spoke to, and she told me another server. Maybe you shouldn't consult with a server, and ask the actual chef?... I asked for the horseradish sauce on the side, and she came out with horseradish....
I asked for a to go box, since I could only eat half of what I ordered, and asked for an extra horseradish sauce to go, and she didn't put a lid on it."

"I went to Ward's with family to celebrate my uncle's birthday. The bar area is really loud, but thankfully the section of the dining room where we sat was much quieter. I ordered the filet and pan seared scallops which were both delicious. The balsamic vinaigrette was a little bitter - maybe due to the garlic - I'm not quite sure. Banana fosters cheesecake was a good dessert, but it didn't seem to be made in house, which is disappointing for a restaurant like Ward's. However, the creme brûlée cocktail was delicious and reasonably priced."

"Came for Lunch. Onion Strings were good. Could make a meal of them alone. Lobster Ravioli was very good and tasty. Prime Rib, cole slaw and a side of the Cajun Mac and Cheese was over the top. Took home the Mac and Cheese for a snack, but the grandson gobbled it up and proclaimed it a keeper.
Coffee drinks after lunch was relaxing with no "hovering" by the staff. Timing was placed just right and friendliness of the staff was over the top. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a good meal."

"I go to Wards after work ALL THE TIME because we like the happy hour martini special. Specifically made my reservation for 15 minutes before happy hour ended and they wouldn't give me the special I always get just because I sat in a different place. Nice way to treat a regular customer. There are plenty of steakhouses in Milwaukee and I'll never go back to Wards."

"This restaurant makes its name for their various (large) cuts of prime rib and they sure do know how to cook this meat to perfection. My husband ordered the 16oz prime rib. Came out a wonderful medium rare and since he let me take a few bites, it was probably the best prime rib I have had (I seriously love prime rib). So silky, buttery and full of flavor. I on the other hand ordered a special; 6oz filet accompanied by mushroom ravioli (3). My steak was also cooked to a perfect medium rare and the ravioli had a very earthy mushroom flavor; delicious. Our server Meghan was great and made our first experience at Ward's very personable and pleasant. The chocolate cake for dessert accompanied our bottle of Cabernet well. We will be back!"

"The food was excellent and the ambiance suitable. However, take care to protect your credit card. My card was not brought back to the table after being presented to the waitperson. Both the waiter and manager were informed of this issue, and neither seemed to have much interest other than suggesting that I "check my pockets". About ten minutes after making it clear that we would not leave the restaurant without the missing credit card ,it was suddenly "found" by the waiter and returned.to me.

"This restaurant was recommended to us by one of my husband's coworkers and we finally had a chance to go. I'm so glad we did. My husband loved his prime rib. I had the sea bass (a very generous portion size) and it was the best I've ever had! Their double baked potatoes were delicious also. Our server even gave us free dessert because it was our first time there. The service at the table was a bit less attentive than we had expected though for a restaurant of this type. Our server had several tables and one larger table so she didn't check back with us as often as we would have liked. Still overall a nice experience and we would definitely go back when we're in town."

"Dinner at Ward's is always very nice. I've never had a bad experience there. The prime rib is as good as you can get anywhere and the filet is top notch. Quality wine list by the glass. Upscale dining room in appearance. Service is very attentive but not hovering; just the way one would hope. Worth the trip every time."

"We arrived 20 minutes prior to our reservation so we could enjoy a drink at the bar. The bartender was nice and talkative, our drinks were good. As we were seated at our table I noticed an unpleasant smell in the dining room which I mentioned to my husband. He said he didn't smell it. We'll it was there all through the meal and it was terrible. The food was just OK. Salads were noting special, onion rings were not good and my filet was not good. We split a piece of banana cake for dessert and the frosting tasted like paste and the cake was dry and unflavorful. It took 15 minutes to get a drink ordered from the table. Milwaukee has many very good steak restaurants. Skip Ward's. It's just not good."

"I had the "famous" prime rib and was very dissapointed with the VERY fatty cut of meat I received. In fact, the cut did not even have the appearance of a piece of prime rib. I was using this visit to identify a potential new place to take business clients and needless to say I will not be back."

"Perhaps the best prime rib we have ever had!! It was "like butter" and the seasonings were fantastic. The restaurant was perfect. The tables were ideally spaced so that you weren't right on top of the person behind you, and the chairs were very comfortable. Our servers were very friendly. We will definetly be back to Ward's House of Prime."

"love the food but the couples side-by-side booths are kind of weird. i'd prefer a table over this booth. it's awkward to look at the whole restaurant and have all the other diners looking at you. the food is amazing though. service this time was great but not as great as the first time we were there. would definitely recommend."

"The prime rib here is very good. With that said, on this visit we felt that the vibe at Ward's has changed and it no longer feels like an upscale steakhouse. There was a much more casual feel to the restaurant on this visit, which conflicts with the menu and wine list prices. Even though Ward's is a bit less expensive than other area steakhouses, we feel that it should still try to cater to the steakhouse crowd. We're not sure if we'll return."

"The only negative was a 14 yr oldish kid sitting sideways with his legs
extended out so far that when walking by the table you had to be careful
not to trip over him. He sat this way for the entire meal and could not have
been any more obnoxious.
Hard to believe anyone would go to an outstanding restaurant like this and
allow their kid to behave like such an idiot.
Otherwise the experience was incredible, can't blame the restaurant for anything.
I look forward to going back soon."

"I did not like the noise from the bar area, we could hear it all the way in the dining area. The Brewer game was on, not a place for the Brewer game. We were out for a romantic dinner for my husbands birthday. I did not know that Ward's was a sports bar.

"The bar is not only beautiful to look at filled with a wide assortment of various delights, but also has televisions to view the game and cheer on your team! The two dining rooms provide comfort, relaxation, ambiance, and romance. The staff goes out of their way to ensure you have the best service and work hard to meet your every need. The selection of food fits everyone's appetite from the perfectly breaded and cooked calamari to the delicious warm bread and perfectly cooked steaks and fish. This was my second visit to Wards and was as amazing this time as it was the first."
