"Absolutely loved our visit to Jacques when we visited NYC from France. It was recommended to us by someone that had been. We had brunch there and it was a lovely atmosphere. Service was excellent. Would definitely recommend it to everyone !"

"Great service, great music and decor. Food was very good. I had salad Nicoise. The tuna was cooked perfectly. My only critique was that the dressing was too light and lacked character. Bread was warm and freshly baked and yummy. My friends enjoyed the onion soup and croque Monsieur. I would visit again if in the neighborhood."

"Love this restaurant. Although in my neighborhood, I'd hop a cab to go there. Excellent cuisine and service. I prefer the front room. The decible level in the back room is quite high when crowded, which it usually is."

"We have been coming to Jacques for years - its a favourite of ours in the neighbourhood. The atmosphere is easy-going, the food is always good, and the prices are reasonable. I almost always have the moules and they have never disappointed."

"My husband had dinner here a little while ago with a friend and said how much he enjoyed the meal - so naturally I insisted we go there. We found a typical Brasserie style French restaurant with brasserie type foods - I was reminded of the many places I dined while living in Paris. I had the mussels with Dijon Mustard and garlic which was delicious but my husband found his salmon with lentils to be a bit overcooked. Service is - uh, relaxed. Pleasant personnel but very casual, to say the least. Still, not a reason to forego a meal - just don't be in a hurry!"

"We had a very quiet and civilized meal, with outstanding attentive service. The food was very good--outstanding: we three all had fish, prepared different ways, and all agreed the fish was tasty and fresh, good portion sizes. Gracious service, good value for quality of the food."

"For dinner the main diningroom was terribly noisy even at 7:00. The bar room was much quieter,it's where I usually have lunch. Food is quite good, well prepared.Service was not at all attentive this time, hard to ever get a waiter's attention."

"I live in Brooklyn but am willing to travel to the Upper East side in the 80's to eat at Jacques. I have eaten there twice already and highly recommend it to my friends. Food is always delicious and the menu is varied enough to satisfy almost everyone. My most favorite appetizer is the goat cheese and onion tart and I'm not even a cheese person! If you want good hearty French food, Jacques is the place to go."

"Celebrated my mother's 82nd birthday here. Very attentive and no problem bringing our own birthday cake. The food is great but the waiters and service really are the best."

"Jacques is a neighborhood staple that never fails to deliver. The mussels, tuna tar tar, frisée salad are our favorites but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu."

"Such a pleasant surprise - authentic brasserie with delicious classics and attentive staff. We loved the music and the crowd felt just right, not too young or old. We loved the music too - classic, jazzy, french standards. The front room is quieter with music more audible, which we chose of the noisier, more densely filled back room. We're recommending it to friends and look forward to being back."

"This restaurant used to be a very good spot when it was small and the owners were ther. Unfortunately thise days are gone. My wife had two appetizers and no main course. Both were adequate but uninspired. My duck was awful. I order duck like a many french do as "medium rare". The first time it was served well done. The seond try was cooked nearly correctly but so badly prepared otherwise that it was nearly inedible. Thankfully the french fries (ordered separately) were good as was the wine. With poor service and poor food, there is really no reason to return."

"the service was a little slow to begin with but we were very well taken care of in the end - and the ambiance is always terrific - my only quibble is that there were not enough apple slices on my Jacques Burger which is what i always order because i thought the combination of blue cheese and apple was scrumptious but the last couple of times, i have hardly tasted the apple - there was one very small slice"

"A really European ambiance -- could be in a modest residential Parisien neighborhood. The food is also along these lines and very tasty . Genes or dressy. Your choice. It meets all needs, and the moules are great!"

"Classic french atmosphere in the front dining area adjacent to the bar. Honest place, honest space, honest food. Always a nice night out. We went again for valentine's day, as we were looking forward to a nice night out without the crowds or hype. Jacques delivered again."
